Am watching and feel for everyone in the parade with all this b…..y rain … thought some of the carriages looked like big old prams of yester year🤔
Looking forward to seeing the whole family and Kate and children in a carriage

She's not being bashed.
Working Royals were on the balcony.

Bashed by posters, here.

Not bashed by anyone apart from here, as far as I can discern.

Oh, I see, sorry I misunderstood. Apologies.

I thought you meant by the RF by not being allowed on the balcony.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jun-24 21:30:20

GSM* every story I have spoken of are on uTube, interviews with Loose Women, This Morning, American chat shows, her books, believe or not, your choice

OldFrill Sun 16-Jun-24 21:31:43

Anniebach, l don't think Fergie has spoken out of turn about the Royals. Her downfall was due to the 'Cash for Access' (to Prince Andrew) honeytrap. It was so blatantly stupid that anyone would think Andrew had dreamt it up.

Thank you. No need for the apology - I don't write well.

OldFrill, I have never said she has spoken unkindly, I speak of
her many interviews when she has spoken of them , seems I am alone with this opinion, the Queen died Fergie produced a photograph of herself with the late Queens dogs , I accept this is liked but not by me. Why do it ?

Jaberwok Sun 16-Jun-24 21:57:59

I seem to remember that the now Duchess of Edinburgh also behaved foolishly and indiscreetly in the early days, something to do with an Arab Sheik? A long time ago now and long forgiven, but it was dodgy at the time. I'm sorry but am I missing something? Why after the Queens death was a photo of Sarah with the Queens dogs considered inappropriate? The dogs were taken on by Andrew and Sarah and now live with them, so surely a doggy photo is harmless?

Anniebach Sun 16-Jun-24 22:10:09

Why the photograph? It’s all about Fergie in truth , was the country worrying about the fate of the dogs? So why publish ?

What she said at the time of the divorce is 30 years ago, her latest I have heard June this year

V3ra Sun 16-Jun-24 22:11:13

There had been comments from people in the press asking about the late Queen's dogs, and who was looking after them.
I don't think it was unreasonable of Sarah to tell people that she and Andrew had taken the two corgis in, it would have been comforting for some animal-lovers to know this.
Apparently Sarah and the Queen used to walk their dogs together.

Anniebach I think quite a lot of people were worrying about the dogs and pleased to see they were with someone they knew.

Trooping the Colour

Fergie wasn't there so why not discuss the thread title..

Exactly!

Lots of heartwarming stories appeared in the press after the Queen died. Andrew and Fergie looking after the dogs was just one of them. Nobody was cashing in.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jun-24 23:35:01

Who gave tv interviews ? Yes Harry but who else ? Paul Burrell yuck,

To move the discussion back to the trooping of the colour.

We were watching it when the commentator said they would now interview Major General X, with the same unusual surname as our next door neighbour. Up came the MG and his face, build and voice immediately showed the family likeness.

We were digesting this when out in the garden, we saw our neighbour, so went out and asked. 'Yes', he said,' my nephew'.

And then it struck home. Our neighbour is our age and if our neighbour is our age, his brother is probably only a year or two older/younger so the nephew must be much of an age with our children.

I come from an army family and for me Major Generals are much older senior officers. They are not meant to be young enough to be my son.

I was talking to DS later and commented on this and he promptly reminded me of a school friend who went into the army and had done well. 'I think he is a Major-General' he said. (he is, I checked)

I have now come up with a new definition of old age. It is not when the policemen look young enough to be your son. It is when the Major-Generals are young enough to be your son.

M0nica I wish there was a 'Like' button!

Jaberwok Mon 17-Jun-24 10:08:07

A like button would be useful, thumbs up will have to do!👍👍

Greyduster Mon 17-Jun-24 10:36:17

DH worked in MOD he ran the offices of two Major Generals and though the first one was nearing retirement and looked his age, the second was quite young and would certainly have had one or even two promotions ahead of him. I met them both. They were lovely, approachable people, good at putting people at their ease, but, as DH commented once, you can’t tell one senior officer from another. If they’re not in uniform, they all look like bank managers!

Bea65 Mon 17-Jun-24 10:37:17

oh dear thread derailed...smile

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jun-24 10:40:07

Again …

Whitewavemark2 Mon 17-Jun-24 11:33:46

I will just like to add my bit as I generally avoid royal threads because of the unpleasantness directed at people about whom we really know very little apart from what the drafted media print.

I would just like to say that I was very pleased to see Catherine, but I thought the poor little soul looked terribly frail. Absolutely everything crossed that her treatment works and she recovers for a long full life. Cancer treatment can as many people can testify be absolutely brutal, so her frailty should be no surprise really.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 17-Jun-24 11:37:15

Drat ted not drafted -

Grandma70s Mon 17-Jun-24 11:44:04

I thought Catherine looked absolutely fine, not frail at all. I was surprised how well she looked.

We like seeing all the planes going over our heads after they leave central London, Red Arrows at the back of the queue.
