Smear Keir - desperate Tory tactics!

14 years of Conservative corruption, scandal and ineptitude is enough of a smear for me. I suspect nothing they can dig up about other parties can match that.

Smearing is probably all they have left. I loved Paul Merton's comment on HIGNIFY the other week - Tories promising wonderful changes is good but why in in 13 years haven't they already done them?

I dislike Starmer as he was head of the CPS when many allegations about Jimmy Saville were made and ignored. He was challenged about this in parliament by Boris. Instead of apologising and saying they got it wrong with hindsight- which I would have accepted- he denied it was nothing to do with him and up to another department. I won't ever vote Labour while he's part of it.
Rishi is very close to being a dictator imo as he is unwilling to negotiate with strikers. It's basically his was or the high way. That attitude is unsuitable for a democratic country.
So really they are not great party leaders imo

Surely your postal delivery shouldn’t be down to whether the post person ‘likes doing it’ or not. If there’s post to be delivered, they should deliver it!

I’d be on the phone complaining to Royal Mail and, if necessary, the Electoral Commission. Your daughter’s right to vote should not be decided by the whims of a post delivery person!

I have been emailing back and forth with Royal Mail, I am now corresponding with their escalated complaints process. It's been going on since before Christmas. I'm not giving up.

My daughter is working abroad and has asked me to do a proxy postal vote for her. The council have stated that postal votes will not be posted to me till 26th June, when received I must fill it in and post it back. The postman/woman allocated to my road doesn't like doing it and we are lucky to get a delivery once a week, so my daughter who has strong political views is very likely going to be unable to vote at all.

I understood that you can hand a postal vote in at a polling station. Are you able to do that? Or ask someone else to hand it in for you.

From the link I posted:

From which I assume that it's fine to hand in a proxy postal vote. The only restriction is on the number of postal votes you can hand in if some of them are proxy PVs.

I'm sure you could ask for advice from your local electoral officers if you're not sure about this.

sazz1 my understanding is that this allegation made by Johnson in the HoC was actually discredited, and Johnson was forced to apologise to KS.

We handed in our referendum postal vote because we wanted to actually see it go into the box. And when I voted at the recent council elections the lady at the polling station told me that postal votes can be handed in at the polling station but a lot of people didn’t know that.

I'm clear one can do that, (it says on the form) but maybe people aren't sure if voter ID is required (I can't recall as form sent)

MaizieD Yes I saw that, but I wasn't sure if they meant I could hand it in at my own voting station or if that refers to handing it in at Haringey where my daughter is registered. There is no way I could get to Haringey from where I am. Perhaps I'll ask the local electoral officers as you have suggested, thank you.

I worked in Electoral Registration (quite a few years ago) and unless things have changed, I think you would need to hand in the proxy postal vote to the constituency where the absent voter you are proxy for, lives (the return envelope will indicate this) . Once the ballot boxes are opened at the count, there is no arrangement to transfer postal/proxy votes to their rightful constituencies if they have been handed in to the wrong area.

But as suggested, to make sure, give the Electoral Registration officers a ring to get up to date information.

Just had my new Labour Councillor knock on my door, when I questioned him about starmer recognising Palestine, he waffled, when questions asked about tuition fees, he told me it was the Tories that brought them in, it was Blair, private schools, he said we had to get extra nursery money from somewhere.
He wanted me to vote for a chap who I'd never heard of, when reading the leaflet he was more interested in the towns 20 odd miles away, since boundary changes we've lost our sense of belonging to our nearest town, 2 miles down the road. He was arrogant and pushy, said it was a two horse race, if I voted for anyone else it would let the Tories back in, I said I'd heard it was the other way around. He wasn't amused, thanked him shut the door, leaflet in the bin. I will not be told, by anyone, who to vote for.

Just a wee note: James Daly MP who made allegations against Angela Rayner, (although he was embarrassingly tonge-tied on Daytime TV and couldn't remember exactly what they were), only had a majority of 105 at the 2019 General Election. The most marginal seat in the last parliament.

What do you mean "doesn't like doing it". He has to do it its his job. Have you contacted the local office re this, as I jolly well would.

After Meeting my newly elected Labour Councillor yesterday, his arrogance and his two horse vernacular, no thanks. He put me down as a NO.

Labour attack Rishi Sunak personally on all levels, very underhand. They can’t answer questions clearly if at all, too evasive and untrustworthy. People forget that the country has gone through a very tough time, Rishi was there for them then so support him now, his policies are working. If Labour get in then the country will be ruined, after all last time they left government they left the treasury completely bare!
