We don’t know Annie. I don’t believe anything Hamas allow to come out from Gaza to be honest.
It’s been reported today that Hezbollah have been firing rockets into Israel every day for months. The report showed an Israel man whose car was destroyed by a Hezbollah rocket attack. He was lucky it didn’t land on his house. These terrorist groups are extremely dangerous and not only to Israel. It’s a possibility that war will break out in the region and as Wyllow says, the international interest and funding will not end because of this possibility.

Even the Israeli army spokesman doesn't think it's possible to eliminate Hamas. So where does that lead Israel?
(126 Posts)"Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari said "The idea of destroying Hamas is simply throwing sand in the eyes of the public…Hamas is an idea, Hamas is a political party…whoever thinks we can eliminate Hamas is mistaken," in an interview with Israel's Channel 13 News.
State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman said the Prime Minister's Office asked him to hold off on a probe into its conduct surrounding Hamas' October 7 attack, after the High Court of Justice ordered Engelman to halt his probe into the IDF and Shin Bet. Engelman said that the office's request "is indicative of a mindset which I do not accept," adding that the Defense Minister's Office cooperated with his inquiries.
Taken from today's Haaretz. It would appear that more Israelis cannot support Netanyahu
Hamas won't report on people who are too scared to speak up.
Neither could journalists who would need to protect the source?
The journalists who report from Gaza are all Hamas approved anyway.
It will be a proxy war between Iran and Israel.
The BBC and other news sources are all reporting from Jerusalem freely.
Hezbollah are based in Lebanon.
I found this very relevant article in the Jewish Chronicle
www.thejc.com/lets-talk/many-gazans-like-me-despise-hamas-but-are-too-scared-to-speak-out-xzneo8z5
takes a bit of a read.

Hezbollah are based in Lebanon.
Is that remark to me? Only if so - ask yourself who trains, arms, advises and gives continual support to Hezbollah.
Very interesting reading Wyllow. Thank you.
This article totally verifies everything I had thought about the situation in Gaza, but unfortunately there are some people who have refused to see. This is not only on GN, but out there in the population too. We have to recognise Hamas for what it is. The article makes clear that Hamas steal the aid sent into Gaza, that they hide among the civilian population, that they know that there are Israeli hostages in Gaza, that they have long prevented Gazans from having enough electricity and other commodities, that they only allow journalists to report what they want reported, that they rule cruelly and without care for the population.
No Whitewave, it was not to you, it was a general comment, because Hezbollah are firing into Israel from Lebanon.
I agree that any war will probably be financed and brought about by Iran, but how many other countries will join in and will the west be pulled in?
Going to war with Hezbollah would bring a huge shift in Israel’s war strategy.
The international community especially USA will find it harder to continue support, because Israel are taking this to a different level altogether.
I appreciate that Hezbollah is continually firing rockets into Israel, which has been stepped up since Oct 7, but they pose a much much bigger threat to Israel.
It will be an incredibly dangerous decision to make, Israel will feel the full force of a well funded, well armed snd fully trained military.
Imo Israel would be much better advised to pursue peace in Gaza, but of course Netanyahu does not see that strategy as being in his interest.
Other countries in the region will not support this expansion of the war front, and Israel will find itself isolated.
If however it does decide to go to war with Hezbollah, it will need to expand its military enormously, and the part timers snd indeed the Orthodox Jews may well be called upon to defend their country.
Their only saviour is to bring about the downfall of Netanyahu.
What well funded, well armed and fully trained military will Israel face Whitewavemark2 that you so confidently predict?
I very much doubt that Iran wants anything to do with a full blown war with Israel tho they will continue to support Hezbollah terrorists.
On one hand Hezbolah has a large stockpile of rockets and a mass launch could overwhelm defenses, on the other hand Israel has absolute air supremacy the US , UK and others will prevent interference from others.
Fighting on the ground will be tough going, unless Hezbolah forces can be weakened, losses will be high for Israel much higher than Gaza.
I hope that full war in the Middle East will not happen. The thought is quite frightening.
I wish that the hostages would be released and that there would be a ceasefire.
I also hope that war with Hezbollah is avoided it would be disastrous for the whole region and for the rest of the world. The article posted byWyllow is well worth reading as it confirms that many Gazans do not support Hamas, although some of course, do. Someone kept posting, "Hamas is Gaza, Gaza is Hamas" on previous threads about this war and it's not a true description at all and it's why the killing of so many citizens is so wrong. Apart from that it's dehumanizing and damaging for the young conscripts in the IDF. Reports today of an injured Palestinian tied to the front of an IDF vehicle as a human shield. What mother would want her children doing such dreadful things? This war is terrible for gazans and Israelis. It must stop!
We don’t know if the reports are true Vintagewhine
I guess the Gazan on the vehicle was a hamas fighter, who cares if he was a human shield, hamas have been making human shields of Gazans for the last eight months.
Anyway I bet they had captured him and didn’t want him inside their Jeep,I can’t blame them for that.
Links are posted here to newspapers, surely no different to
the Guardian and Times , Mirror and Mail
The IDF have accepted that it's true and commented on it.
Thank you

Do you really accept that the conduct of soldiers is of no consequence? Do you really believe that it's ok for soldiers to treat anyone suspected of being a terrorist in any way they want?
No Vintagewhine not in any way, as that covers way too much.
The IDF will likely say the soldiers weren’t meant to do that but nobody will lose any sleep over it.

So you think it’s OK for Hamas to murder all the Fatah opposition, and spend 20 yrs indoctrinating children to hate and kill Israelis. Effectively they control every aspect of life and you cannot speak out against them, pretty much like Nazi Germany.
I don’t see any prospect of lasting peace until Hamas is destroyed in Gaza
I've not said anything like that, did you read the article? It supports what many of us believe that not every Gazan supports Hamas, so the phrase is incorrect and unhelpful.
