With the greatest of respect, that is not what your post said. You were going to ask your DiL about the Princess.

With respect GMs you have no idea what it was I was going to ask,neither do I and neither does anyone else. I find it insulting that anyone should thing for a second that I would ask my DiL for any personal information on the Princess. She would be shocked and I have better manners then that.

The cause of the injury has not been confirmed, a horses head OR a kick has been mentioned, a horse swinging its head sideways, or possibly down is the much more likely cause.

As others have said a horse has to rear right up to kick that high, if it did she was very lucky indeed.

Consistent with contact with a horses head is a great clue.
Horses heads are heavy, they wave them around a LOT. It wouldn't take much for her to be caught unawares and sent flying.

What a blessing Anne was not taken to the Shrewsbury A&E featured in Channel 4's Despatches.

Most of the rooms in the hospital are single ensuite rooms. It is a lovely hospital. Wishing Princess Anne a full and speedy recovery.

It has been stressed on the BBC that Princess Anne was walking, not riding. She was taken to an NHS hospital in Bristol where she is expected to stay for a few days.
This is why I love our NHS. It treats everyone from the poorest to the royals.

My thoughts exactly, but I must admit the thought crept in that I bet she didn't have to sit in A&E for hours before she was seen like a lot of people. She's probably my favourite Royal too.

Yes, agree, Redrobin51. She's probably the one most capable of working and earning her living - as a professional horsewoman as well. I admire her for putting her royal duty ahead of her love of all equestrian, European medals, Olympian etc. Hope she's ok.

I don't know a lot about horses but I went to an event once where Anne was riding a very 'mind of its own' black horse called Binky. Even with two ladies in waiting riding either side, Binky would go nowhere near that ribbon so Anne could cut it! Maybe a very beautiful but spirited horse got a bit playful in the fields while Anne was making a fuss of him? I don't know, but I do wish her a very speedy recovery - we are the same age so I can understand perhaps what a shock it has been to her. Like others posting, she is one of favourite royals too.

A colleague was tending to her horse, a huge but gentle animal, and the next thing she knew was waking up in hospital with her cheekbone broken and concussion. He had swung his massive head around to be sociable - she was found some time later by a stable hand, with her large equine friend standing over her anxiously.

Princess Anne is in hospital after suffering minor injuries to her head and a concussion after it is believed she was kicked by a horse on her Gatcombe Park estate. The Princess Royal, 73, who competed in equestrian events at the 1972 Olympics, was walking on her Gloucestershire estate on Sunday evening when the incident happened.

Reported not riding a horse. Was out walking when the incident occurred.
