I don’t know - I live in a true-blue area, with a lot of older residents, and the people I’ve spoken to here seem to be going from Tory to Reform.

None are thinking about voting Labour/LD/Green.🤷‍♀️

So, I haven’t got a clue about who might end up as our local MP.

Reform did not stand in your area last time DL so why don't you check out which party came second to the Tories and vote for them. Check out stopthetories.vote/ or tactical.vote/

Merion

The tactical vote in Clacton must be for Giles Watling to retain his seat - for the sake of the constituency and the work he has done there. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Does anyone really think that Farage would work hard IN the constituency for his constituents?

I'd never heard of Giles Watling a couple of weeks ago, but I really hope he keeps his seat. Nobody else stands a chance.

I agree growstuff. Clacton is the one and only place where you might recommend voting Tory, which of course I would never dream of doing anywhere else but I would like to see Farage fail for the eighth time.

I would, in that seat.

I live in a solid Labour area, which weathered 2019, and none of the seats are contested by Reform. The one "hot seat" is a Labour/Lib Dem showdown.
Each seat has 2 or 3 far left candidates.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 03-Jul-24 11:27:17

The Lib Dem’s are within touching distance of becoming the official opposition.

To do that it needs tactical voting in every constituency where it will rid ourselves of the Tories.

I think that the Lib Dem’s campaign has been fun, joyful and certainly brought the Libs to the voters attention.

I shall be voting tactically tomorrow.

Our man is getting desperate. He had called at the house and today a personal letter arrived. He has been very unpopular but his rival is someone I could never vote for. So undecided. Is a vote for greens wasted?

Ilovecheese Wed 03-Jul-24 11:52:06

The Tories will never win in my area but the LibDems have won in the past. I will be voting LibDem mainly because of their opposition to the two child benefit cap. I cannot bring myself to vote for a party that does not see alleviating child poverty as a priority.

The amount of money a party gets for electioneering depends on how many votes they get. So, looking to the next election it would help smaller parties with their funding. So, in that way no vote is a wasted vote. Also whoever does win in the constituency will realise that voters do care about green issues.

I’m astounded to see that my always Tory seat is now a marginal, if the polls can be believed. It may be true, as the Tories have been snowballing us with door-knockers and leaflets, even one of the letters from Rishi, and I don’t think they’d spend the money and effort if they were sure they’d win.

The challenging party is Labour, which is perhaps explained by a non-formal tactical campaigning agreement between them and the other progressive parties - we have had, or heard, nothing from the LibDems or Greens.

I’m not overly impressed with the Labour manifesto - it’s anything but inspirational and transformative - but I will vote for them tomorrow to hopefully remove another Tory.

You’re not alone. I will also vote Conservative. I’m glad you have raised the unprofessional dress of the Labour women in the HoC - I have long thought that if they want to be taken seriously they should at least try to look the part. Tin helmet on!

what a silly comment.

If you’re a professional person you dress accordingly if you want to be taken seriously.

so what is wrong with how Yvette Cooper dresses? Or Rachel Reeves?

Just who is it that you sneer at?

I shall be very glad to see Farage lose on his eighth attempt.

Same here, This is an ultra safe Tory seat, present incumbent 32 years. He is desperately popping up everywhere, campaigning on a contentious local issue and completely disregarding his part in the previous 14 years, plus the fact that he is an ultra brexiteer. He has made more constituency visits in the past 6 weeks than he has made in the past 32 years! I shall be voting tactically to get rid of him.

Or Emily Thornberry? She's overweight, but always looks well-dressed.

She doesn’t like Thangam’s voice ( can’t criticise her dress).

Who?

Jane71 Wed 03-Jul-24 17:03:51

It's one problem with our FPTP system of voting, that many people vote against who they don't want rather than for who they do want.
Yes I'll vote tactically to get rid of the Tories. In a fairer system I would vote Green.

varian Wed 03-Jul-24 18:09:40

Of course you are right Jane71

We need to vote tactically against the party we most dislike to prevent them winning in our constituency. That is the intelligent way to vote until we replace FPTP with PR.

Apologies GSM. It was montymops.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 04-Jul-24 01:37:44

Only voted tactically once and it didn’t end well. I believe it best to vote for whichever Party you really believe will do best for the country. That way even if they don’t win you will have shown your support.
