Labour got in as usual where we are.
I’m hoping that that means an end to excuses that a Tory government means they can’t do x, y and z.
My DGS, voting for the first time, asked me

“They all tell lies. How do you choose?”

I told him to read the manifestos, listen to the propaganda, watch the TV and know that nothing good that they say, is written in stone once they get into power.

He told me he voted Reform.

i posted earlier about a young lad who did the same. They are totally disillusioned with all other parties and he says Reform are now the most followed party by younger people.

I’m going to do that. We are off to Whistable for the week (it was actually a holiday booked when our dog was alive😥😥) I’ll be too tired to bother to go out to eat so M&S will be my go to😵‍💫😵‍💫

I’m hoping for an improvement in the NHS and a decent pay increase for the doctors.

Well done Labour. No not happy, but now forgetting the scrum, will await to see what occurs, not holding my breath. Awaiting more tax on my pension.

Maddyone. I was so distracted by all the Boris Johnson style stunts starring Ed Davey that I completely forgot to read the LibDem’s manifesto. Also Daisy Cooper and Ed driving around in a pink car didn’t help with spreading information.
Still wondering where all the extra workers will be found for the Labour Party’s various policies…. The numbers are huge.

Ed Davey is proud that he was part of the Tory Lib Dem coalition, he did it once , so ?

Just seen Scarlett MccGwire on TV. She has been Labour all her life and was a Labour advisor. She says she is not jubilant or triumphant today because she recognises that Labour has a massive job to do in fulfilling all their promises. Never thought I would hear her say that as she has argued for months that Labour should and will win and will make sweeping changes.

In the meantime I am going out to buy candles and fleece blankets as I remember what Labour’s Winters of Discontent were like! ❄️

I do too. Bottles whisky to keep us warm whilst working by candlelight in the basement of an antiquarian book sellers in Mayfair. A fun time was had! Plus the occasional Black Forrest gateau from Jacksons.

Interestingly Rees Mogg would have won if Reform had not split the vote. Now we can have dual carriageways converted to cycle tracks - I kid you not, but it will cause a riot.

Starmer’s vote was actually down in his own constituency- he had fewer votes than Corbyn. Not so much voters want Labour just they’ve had enough off a Tory government that is totally incompetent amongst other things. Covid and Ukraine didn’t help the economy of course. I fear for the future under Labour.

I am delighted that for only the second time in 40 plus years in this town my vote has actually counted and not only do we have a change of government 😊 but a change of MP too. What’s not to be happy about.

Overall great result. Happy to see LD will be playing a major part, more Green Party too. Delighted to see Truss, JRM and others out.

Crikey the SNP were annihilated, my family living in Scotland will be delighted.

Congratulations Labour. Good riddance Mogg, Coffrey and Truss. I’m hoping for a government with compassion and an interest in helping those who need it rather than a government only interested in helping themselves. I know it’s not going to be easy. There are no quick fixes. The damage to the country done over the last 14 years runs too deep. But for the first time in a long time I have hope.

I hope that the young people continue to follow Reform because they will soon find that Farage's wings will be clipped. He won't get the opportunity to self promote once he's in parliament. He is of course one of 650 MPs and will only be able to speak when called to do so by the Speaker.

I suppose he'll get a chance once a week at PMQs and I don't doubt that he will be complaining in all the right wing media about being sidelined. The other 3 will have less chance to speak.

Labour have won, I now wait and see what they intend to do and how they will do it.

A worrying thing for me is four Independents got elected on a so called Gaza ticket, I find this just as worrying, if not more so than four Reform MP’s being elected.

My older grandson said he wouldn't vote as he didn't understand it properly, but would vote reform if he did, probably.

Congratulations from me to Labour too. A resounding majority. I truly wish them well. Of course I do! It’s in all our interests as a nation that we thrive and prosper - in all sections of society. We need the NHS to work better. I hope they don’t just throw money at the behemoth. It too needs change and reshaping.

P.s. I’m glad Reform Uk got 4 seats - same at the Greens.
And I’m glad the Lib Dem’s (nice as they are - I especially like Daisy Cooper) are not the opposition party.

I think Lammy, Butler and Ashworth lost their seats. Yvette Cooper too. I’m glad about the first 3.

I'm fit for nothing today, I'd already said I quite like the MP for our area, so I'm not worried.
I think, though, that my litte corner of the world voted for independent candidates?

I cant believe that he will be speaking any less overall, than he is now. All in all.
