Were they all real or were some just AI candidates?

There are two problems with that view, GSM. Public opinion isn’t particularly in agreement with Farage now, and when Labour are seen to be effectively managing the issue of asylum seeker smugglers, are processing applications in a timely fashion and are changing the narrative that all immigration is bad (even Farage has said that a net migration rate of 600.000 is necessary) then Farage and his ilk will have even less relevance.

Public opinion was very much in agreement with Farage on 4 July!

Interesing poll results here showing a clear difference between reform and tory voters.

It really doesn't look as though there is much public feeling behind Farage.

I'm linking to the original I found on X because images don't always reproduce very well

What fascinates me about that graph is just how close Labour, Lib Dem’s and the SNP are on all these issues. The only positives for Reform are the internet and capitalism.

what would you expect? Reform group can join the tories in being cheats liars and totally untrustworthy. Pity Farrage didnt go to usa and perhaps some mad american could have polished him and trump off!

I agree Siope.

They won’t ignore the boats issue. They won’t pander to Farage’s ego, which will be all to the good.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 10-Jul-24 21:34:55

They won’t be able to ignore the strength of public feeling which is behind Farage.

Not only within, but outside Parliament - as I have said many times, Farage knows exactly how to get maximum publicity.

He could have done that without being elected. In fact, he’s probably more limited in what he can say now. And, honestly,. I can’t imagine this government paying overmuch attention to Farage and his client media, let alone feeling accountable to them.

NotSpaghetti Wed 10-Jul-24 21:29:50

No, MayBee70 - not new. This most of us knew.

...But my interest in the party was just if there was any AI going on - or fake candidates. Was just adding that mine (ie in my area) was a real person.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 10-Jul-24 21:03:49

I neither know nor care.

Casdon Wed 10-Jul-24 21:02:59

In the event that the boats are stopped I wonder what will be the point of him?

but I want them to be a constant thorn in Labour’s side regarding immigration

How do you envision them, within Parliament, doing that?

MayBee70 Wed 10-Jul-24 20:16:11

NotSpaghetti

I have no interest in him.
I was just amazed that some of the candidates might be fake.
My own turns out to be an ex- UKIP candidate. He is real - not AI generated.

Well, they aren’t a new party are they. They started off as the BNP morphed into UKIP and reincarnated into Reform.

Casdon Wed 10-Jul-24 20:08:50

It won’t be long until they are laughed out of court if they don't have a viable policy. Yvette Cooper is excellent at turning the tables, and I doubt if it’s a skill she’s lost in the last week. The current Reform plan, as I thought previously, is for Farage to physically walk on water and turn them back from the middle of the channel by waving his arms about.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 10-Jul-24 19:16:41

I know they don’t. Even if they did, they are not in government so it’s irrelevant. I don’t support them but I want them to be a constant thorn in Labour’s side regarding immigration. They don’t need a viable policy to do that.

Wyllow3 Wed 10-Jul-24 18:23:46

But they have no viable policy as regards the people arriving in boats however loudly they shout.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 10-Jul-24 18:18:39

I don’t support them but I believe the pressure they can bring to bear as regards people arriving in boats can only help the situation.

varian Wed 10-Jul-24 18:15:56

I have heard Reform' policies summed up as "the economic policy of Liz Truss and the foreign policy of Vladimir Putin"

LizzieDrip Wed 10-Jul-24 15:33:02

Fair enough GSM - that’s your view.

Thanks for the responsesmile

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 10-Jul-24 14:11:41

Yes Lizzie. I believe they need to become more right wing.

LizzieDrip Wed 10-Jul-24 14:09:55

The Conservatives will be well aware of the number of votes which Reform garnered. I fully expect them to appoint a leader who is pretty far to the right

GSM if the Tories do lean to the right and become more like Reform, will you still support them (the Tories, that is)?

LizzieDrip Wed 10-Jul-24 14:03:48

Nigel Farage is not a racist. Some of his followers may well be but he,personally, is not. Some of the Labour party followers are racist. Some of the Conservative followers are racist

nanna8 I’m interested to know how you know this? I see WW has also asked you the same question.

Would love to know your answer nanna - you seem very sure about your claimhmm

Namsnanny Wed 10-Jul-24 13:49:59

Another genuine question. For those who seem to think that Reform hold all the answers to the countries problems why are they opposed to wind farms because they can injure birds but agree with a party that want to scrap net zero even though global warming is far more of a danger to wildlife and the world in general?

Or perhaps another question a bit more pertinent to birds would be 'Why worry about birds at all, as they support hunting, and shooting birds?
Or am I wrong? I havent bothered to read up on anything they stand for really.

My guess would be they're like all the others - say one thing and do another.
