Dyson - Brexit hypocrite

Let’s not forget that, at the start of the pandemic, the government wanted him to start manufacturing ventilators even though he had no experience of making medical equipment. Even during the referendum he was relocating abroad.

I wonder just how many wealthy funders of the Leave campaign have homes and businesses outside of the UK and what was their motive in inflicting so much harm on our country?

Whatever or was, it was not patriotism.

Just like Sir James Radcliffe, new owner of Man Utd, who has today announced 250 jobs are to go there. He is a tax exile, resident in Monaco, supported Brexit, but has now admitted it has not gone well (hollow laugh emoticon needed)

James Dyson lives in the UK and pays a huge amount of tax here. £156m last year. He lived in Singapore for a short while when setting up his operation there.

I agree with you, keepingquiet about the overpriced hoovers. We had an early one which was fine, and was designed to fit securely on the stairs. The one we have now doesn’t do that, so is more awkward to use on the stairs and is obviously more cheaply made. The cordless one is pathetic. No more Dysons for us!

Henry for me too.. though they are rather heavy..

My first Gtech was brilliant until it conked out, I bought a new one and it`s nowhere near as good as the first one.

The above is a link to an article (8 months old) which explains where his earnings come from. The companies are privately owned by the Dyson family.

Of course we don't how much of the dividend was paid to him but just assuming that he received the total amount the tax of £156 million was 0.13%

If you assume that he has a 25% holding then the percentage of the tax paid (of the £156 million) would be 0.52%.

It's not as bad as GSMmakes out. Just saying!

Remember years ago Oprah was interviewing a British star, can’t recall who, and the lady spoke about ‘doing the hoovering’.

Oprah had never heard of this activity. Upon being told it was another word the Brits used for ‘vacuuming’, she was so taken up with this novel phrase that she decided she would also speak in this trendy new terminology!

I doubt if the fabulously wealthy Oprah did her own vacuuming/hoovering, whatever she called it.

You don't have to be fabulously wealthy to avoid hoovering. In our house my OH hoovers. It is his sole domestic accomplishment. I do (almost) everything else.

I 'treated' myself to a Dyson cordless vacuum a few years ago. It is, without doubt, the worst hoover I have had. These days I use a reliable, good suction, Henry hoover which cost a fraction of the price Dyson charged. This is now demoted to hoovering the car.

My son persuaded me to buy a Henry when my previous hoover stopped picking up. I wasn't convinced but it has changed my life! It is so easy to use, and is British designed and manufactured. I love my Henry!

I try not to say it Calendargirl since my various vacuum cleaners are all Dysons.
Unfortunately they all need a human operator.

I find Dysons too heavy for my arthritic body.
