French police stand by and watch the boats leave for Britain. Now you are in charge Yvette Cooper what's your plan after you cancelled the Rwanda deterrent?

In 2024, a total of 14,759 people arrived in the UK, external on small boats.
Over the same period, the EU received 79,665 people by boats, external crossing the Mediterranean.
The majority of them arrived in just three countries:
Italy: 29,485
Spain: 26,863
Greece: 23,117
All three have populations smaller than the UK: Italy by 14% and Spain by 29%, while the population of Greece is more than six time smaller than the UK’s.
They received the most people in previous years as well, including last year when 263,000 arrived via the Mediterranean - the highest number since 2016.

And did they stay in those countries or travel through Europe, many in order to reach the UK?

And what is the point you are trying to make WWM2?

Is it a competition?

If the problems are here, housing, hospitals, dentists, child poverty, foodbanks etc. why is it important to you to say how many other countries take?
They are, if you read/listen to the news from other countries, equally concerned for their own population, and I haven’t heard of them saying, “Do stay here. Don’t go to the UK.”

I can only speak about Spain and migrants.
They love them, why? They harvest all that lovely fresh fruit and veg that all of Europe want.
But, there’s a catch.
These are the conditions you have to live in.
I know this to be true as we have driven down this road many many times as a quick cut through to a campsite.

That’s a highly inflammatory statement.
It applies only to a very tiny minority of thuggish. brainless morons.
The collective ‘we’ does not apply to our country as a whole by any stretch of the imagination.
