He was fist pumping the air whilst surrounded by security guards that were using their bodies to protect him. I doubt if he was concerned about the fact that other people may have been hurt or will try to do anything about the gun laws in America.

Precisely. So many people are quick to criticise how others react in situations. Until it actually happens to you, you have no idea how you would respond. The sequence of events would be totally unrehearsed, even if you'd practised the given scenario.

Horrible. Just hope the politicians here and in the UK never have to cope with this sort of thing. So far they are able to be more or less unprotected when they mingle with crowds. So far. We have had incidences recently of their offices being trashed by the pro Palestinians which is bad enough.

They have had to cope with it, a woman politician was murdered.

I believe this assassination attempt will increase his support. The photographs are shocking, of course and to see him fist pumping, showing anger not fear will increase the admiration of his gun loving supporters.

I'm absolutely no supporter of Trump but I hate to think what would have happened in the US if he'd been assassinated. He has some crazy supporters who have already shown their capacity to arm themselves and create mayhem. I agree that his response to threat will play in his favour, it will be seen as strength and Americans like that in a president especially when the opposite is shown by Biden.

Political opinion should only be expressed through the ballot box, and I hope he makes a swift recovery.

But, he needs, perhaps, to stop the extreme polarisation and screaming rhetoric encouraging civil unrest. He might also wish to think about his stance on “guns for all”.🤷‍♀️

I don’t know what is going on with politics. Even over here, we had Jo Cox and David Amess murdered by those who disagreed.

During this election campaign, some candidates had to be given police protection and wear body armour - this can never become normal.

I think the gun lobby has twisted the original meaning. I learned this from a lawyer when we lived there. The history of the gun laws is interesting.
