........but it would have been more impressive if "Our God" had prevented the assassination attempt in the first place.
Just where was he when the would-be assassin pulled the trigger?

Oil drilling his pals . He doesn’t give a hoot about global warming . He likes the oil rich donors, though .

Yes 👀
“Donald Trump dangled a brazen “deal” in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign and vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Biden’s environmental regulations and prevent any new ones, according to a bombshell new report.”
Yes, HousePlantQueen of course I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion. But any “opinions” that have been directed to me have most certainly been condescending.

'Surely, by now you must have noticed that both Biden and Trump, like a lot of Americans, are not at all hesitant about mentioning God, prayers, etc.?'
An American friend, who is a Republican. said to me:
'You are a foreigner and you will never understand the American Dream. We were built on the bible and the gun'
Interesting!
I find it impossible to understand why Trump can possibly be so unquestionably adored by his crowds of supporters. Especially by women and those who appear to have a brain.
At least if he does win he presumably will be too old to go onto a second term.
The man is potentially dangerous, a liability, but it’s up to the good people of America to decide if this is who they think should represent them in the world and be their president.

I do not like Trump, BUT, his policies are what we need right now. Unfortunately, under the Biden administration for the last four years, people are struggling financially. Homelessness is at an all time high. The flow of illegal immigrants coming into the country absolutely needs to be stemmed. There is no perfect plac to live, we all know that. All our family still live in the UK and we visit at least once a year. When I sometimes mention the idea of returning to the UK to live, they all, without exception, say it would be madness on our part to return. So many of them have visited us here, and they know what our life is like here. I have to say that there is no comparison, and believe me, I am English through and through.
What policies are you speaking of ?
Trump said nothing of substance in his speech at the RNC.
Just the usual vague remarks and rambling contradictions.
It was very boring and much of the audience reflected the same.
Some of the economic proposals he has recently proposed have been highlighted by the conservative FT newspaper as likely to cause recession and possibly a depression.
Trump has no policy to solve homelessness. None.
His wall was never even close to completion when he was in office. There are thousands of miles yet to complete. What was built has become broken and rusty.
He left the country in an economic mess.
His now VP Vance was the author of the 2025 proposal which is very scary proposal !
Let us not forget that January 6th was a terrible day in American history. Unprecedented!
Also unprecedented is having a presidential candidate who is a convicted felon.
I am an American who lives in 🇬🇧 Britain. No way would I think of moving back to a country so awash with guns and gun violence that can literally happen ANYWHERE.
I will be voting for Biden.
I live in the US. Yes, Trump did contact the widow and the family.
He made a speech last night and had his fireman’s uniform there. He kissed his helmet and also is raising millions of dollars for the families affected by the horrible assassination attempt.
There is too much hatred. Please stop posting hateful comments.
He was visibly moved by this tragic event. If you don’t like him fine, but be respectful and kind.
Urmstongran
Trump’s relief must be huge. I can understand his relief it must be immense.
I cannot believe he won’t have contacted the widow (? source)and the family of the man who lost his life in the shooting. In fact I’d go as far as to say that family will be well supported by DT.
B****ks! Donald Trump cares for Donald Trump only …NO ONE else, not anyone other than HIM. and yes as of today as far as I know hasn’t contacted the family of the man who was killed ..but Biden did, tho the stupid people wouldn’t speak to abide cos they were Trump supporters!
He doesn’t believe God saved him cos despite his heady rhetoric he has no religious belief! His God is Himself! Horrible, immoral, grifter. He’s a Shyster and a Showman…that he’s good at! He’s a Carnival Barker who persuades you to buy his Snake oil! Heaven help the USA if he gets back in. If you look at the pics of him bloodied after the shooting… his whole ear is visible ..there may be a tiny tip gone? But nothing more and you can see that …Always Lies, Lies, and more Lies… Trump Jnr said initially half his ear was gone! He retracted that later. But the whole lot of Trumps are corruption incorporated!

Trump is NEVER respectful and kind! Unless it benefits him!
If he has now been in touch ..it’s great PR for him.

Agree, but this will be his second term… but he’ll load the Government and legislative with his cronies and no doubt at least try to change ‘only 2 terms rule’ so he can be like Putin and keep in power in perpetuity !
I’m a Brit btw, but I have followed all that is going on in the US avidly…and can see all this with no bias.
Sadly respectful and kind is not a phrase which immediately springs to mind when I think of the mood in USA, although I am sure individuals there are.
The politics just now seem to bring out the worst in people. As indeed it does in U.K. but we don’t usually drag supernatural beings (ie god) into it.

👏👏👏
What about the firefighter who was killed? Was God saving him?!
Of course I meant a second term if/ after he gets elected this time. We all remember his first time. It was really quite frightening wondering what he might do or say.
I hope the Democrats can sort themselves out and find someone intelligent, articulate, honest and honourable to stand if Biden does not.
Yes, this was explored on the first pages, as Trump had said
""“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening,” he [Trump] said."
Ie he, apparently gods chosen one, was saved, and the unthinkable averted, when in fact the "unthinkable" had actually happened to 3 families in the crowd (one dead, to injured
Emleten6, you and I would do well to remove ourselves from this discussion. There is so much hatred on here for Trump that we are wasting our breath.

Interesting that you totally evaded coming up with any facts to prove your assertions about Biden.
I really think if you come to tarnish the reputation of a well respected President Biden who has done so much good that you could at least have answered my question . It is not hate its looking for facts in a very scary political year. No one has done more to create hate than Trump has. So it’s very ironic you are proposing to leave a conversation on those grounds.
Hate is a very strong word, I think what is going on here is a discussion which is heated.
Obviously anyone who wishes to stop posting on this or any other thread they are at liberty to do so.
Artois you said yourself you don’t like Trump, many of us feel the same.

Some of the rhetoric used by Trump against his opponents equally matches what you call "hatred" on here.
His comment about the American war-dead when he cancelled his visit to the cemetery near Paris in 2018. "Suckers" and "losers". Oft used phrases of his when describing people for whom he has no liking or respect.
I won't list all the diatribes, or litanies, filled with very unpleasant comments from him - they are all there to be found if people care to look for them. Donald Trump is a very divisive personality.
So it's a bit rich to talk about hatred on here. Apart from the fact that discussions are bound to be heated on a P&N thread.
It's an easy cop out though - to accuse those who disagree with you of hatred, it completely avoids the need for reasoned argument and, by implication, makes all criticism of the person invalid.
I dislike Trump and all he stands for. But I do not hate him, and neither do I rejoice in the fact that an unstable lunatic tried to kill him. Hate is a very emotive feeling, and a very emotive word to use against those, like me, who are highly critical of the man.
Every politician of every stripe has to be accountable for his words and his actions. Donald Trump doesn't get a pass on this.
I like Trump. 😁
👍👍
Yes let's be respectful and kind. Suelld has just described the family of the man who died protecting his wife as stupid. But let's be kind.
👍👍 for Dickens.
That was indeed out of order, Galaxy.

Respect has to be earnt.
I cannot understand why anyone would support or like Trump after his arrogance on the matter of the Georgia election result (to chose just one incident of many)
Its the one in Georgia that really matters, and the Capitol.
Trump attempts to bully Raffensperger (who was himself a Republican to swing the election result.
Trump told Raffensperger, "What I want to do is this. I just want to find, uh, 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state
During the call, Trump falsely suggested that Raffensperger could have committed a criminal offense by refusing to overturn the state's election results
All recorded phone calls.

Hear the phone calls and also see how Trump accused Raffensperger of accepting votes from 5000 dead people.
