She talks such common sense. (I am looking for something to duck behind now!)

Just because a persons political affiliation is different does not make them vile or bad
I m afraid it does if they are part of a political persuasion who preach race hate, division of the country, mysongeny , (the Andrew Tates Nigel Farages of the world) people who want to divide the country and put hatred in peoples lives who want to destroy temples and mosques who want Britain to be white and women back behind the kitchen sink
Reminds me of Enoch Powell, Hitler spreading hate and the people followed and probably at the time a lot said he’s not bad just wants the best for his country

BlueBelle You have gone straight for extremes.

Isabel Oakeshott is not comparable to Andrew Tate, Enoch Powell or Hitler.

Nigel Farage is not comparable to Andrew Tate.

Well, in my eyes Farage is comparable to Tate. He just does the same thing but in a more subtle way and with a grin on his face.

MayBee70 I think you need to do a bit of research on Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan…

There’s more than one way to be an influencer.

I am just so over all of the mud slinging and abusing of anyone who isn’t in the same political bubble as our own.

One of my lodgings in Oxford was at the house of a famous psychology professor and his wife. When there was an election, one of them put up Conservative posters and the other put up Lib Dem posters. They stayed married and were very civilised.

We are the same in our house.

Does that get a bit boring?

😁

Andrew & Tristan Tate are a dangerous duo.

They incite Incels who then go on to physically abuse and sometimes kill women.

Their misogyny knows no bounds.

They owe £’s in tax to HMRC, so unlikely to set foot in U.K. anytime soon.

No I mean we are different!!

I don't find Isabel Oakshott nasty, when I have seen her on programmes like Jeremy Vine she just comes across to me as a bit vanilla, she does not stand out and many women have her look.
Prime minister no, unless it was a joke.

charley68 Fri 02-Aug-24 17:34:53

You have got to be joking.

Sorry, I thought you meant in complete agreement 😁

I sometimes think it would be lovely and peaceful but someone once said if you never have a row it means one of you is a doormat.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 02-Aug-24 17:38:26

Oh we never argue about it. One of us is Green/Liberal depends on how he’s feeling.

I’m obvious😄

Whitewavemark2 Fri 02-Aug-24 17:38:48

We always put up two posters

Fleurpepper Fri 02-Aug-24 17:52:12

This must be a wind-up surely. She is vile, on speed, and so is her lover boy, Tice.

winterwhite Fri 02-Aug-24 18:08:22

Wasn't Isobel Oakeshott who 'helped' Matt Hancock with his book and then sent all his WhatsApp messages to the Daily Telegraph on the grounds that they were in the public interest?
Apologies to her if it was someone else.

grumppa Fri 02-Aug-24 18:27:21

Yes it was, winterwhite. If she became PM we would indeed be following in the tradition of Johnson and Truss.

eazybee Fri 02-Aug-24 18:47:30

Isabel Oakeshott.

I’d forgotten that.

Honestly there is so much that goes on!

Galaxy Fri 02-Aug-24 18:49:06

Surely that was a public service.

Elrel Fri 02-Aug-24 19:03:43

Oakeshott for PM.
About as likely as Markle for Queen of the UK - frequently mentioned by her deluded supporters on Quora.

I would say that the worst misogyny feminists have endured in the last few years has been from the left. It has been breathtaking. I know people keep talking about Andrew Tate (who I loathe) but honestly ask any of the feminists who have spoken out on single sex spaces, prostitution, surrogacy and you will find story after story of misogyny from the left.

Galaxy, I'm honestly not being goady but the Tories were in power for 14 years. The whole trans debacle was under their watch and they did nothing. They had 5 prime ministers and constant cabinet reshuffles too, so it wasn't as if they were stuck with one ideology. The only thing they managed to do, (nearing an election) was utter the words "we know what a woman is". That was it. A short sweet vote catcher and utterly meaningless.

Then there were the cuts to public spending which have driven more women and children into poverty than pre war times, the dangerous and unaddressed endemic misogyny in the police force and god knows how many sexual assaults by Tory MP's this year alone. Please don't try to tell me that right wing politics (and the last government in particular) has been the natural friend of women.

Galaxy Fri 02-Aug-24 21:14:11

I am not. I absolutely agree that all the single sex spaces debacle happened under the Tories watch. Penny mordaunt holds a special place in my heart for her utter uselessness on that issue. I think it's dangerous to think that misogyny is specific to the right, its universal. I was thinking specifically about the online misogyny that women have experienced which was certainly many left men absolutely cheering on men in womens spaces, and prostitution. And being deeply aggressive towards those women who disagreed.

HousePlantQueen Fri 02-Aug-24 21:32:14

Ms Oakeshott betrayed Vicki Pryce over the speeding ticket business, purportedly her friend. She also leaked embarrassing comments by Lord Darroch (about Trump) and a decent man lost his job. She is not the scoop revealing journalist She likes to portray herself as. Also ghosted/co-authored several unofficial biographies including the one of Cameron. Not a particularly loyal individual

MaizieD Sat 03-Aug-24 06:40:40

Oakshott perpetrated the story of Cameron and the pig's head.

She's not a serious writer.

Perhaps some posters should listen to this. I agree*Liz 46 * she does talk common sense and the truth unlike some of the nonsense posts on here about her.

No but I do love June Slater on YouTube

On speed 😂 You have obviously never been in the company of anyone on speed. Speed wouldn’t be your drug of choice when speaking publicly.
