In what world is this OK? I despair really.

It's important to make it clear in posts the difference between criticising the current regime in Israel and its actions, and anti-semitic statements. Out there on parts of social media there is anti semitism just as there are other "hate" posts as we've seen in the UK.

In many cases, it was always VERY clear- but deletes and even bans continued, providing several members complained of anti-semitism re that poster, thread or post.

He will not stop until Palestine is completely wiped out, then he'll extend Israel onto that land...and the awful thing that all nations will have on their consciences is that no=one stopped him..

And until now, anyone saying this on social media, has been deleted and even banned, because of systematic reporting and accusation of antisemitism.

well of course Fleur and that is the very reason they have been allowed to continue.. but those of us who are part of the Palestine solidarity groups have been watching this encroachment for years

That was before people understood what was anti-Semite rhetoric and what wasn’t.

The Holocaust museum is a good resource for that. It is explained in easy detail.

A PM is not answerable to parliament?
A citizen is generally answerable to the rule of law, but not in Netanyahus case apparently.

Bribery, fraud and breach of trust is all avoided as long as he clings onto the seat of power, which he does by being aided and abetted by the most hard right government Israel has ever had the misfortune to have.

A government voted by the people

Definition of genocide means any of the following acts committed to destroy in whole or in part a national, ethical, religious or racial group such as

Killing members of that group

Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of that group

Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction, in whole or in part.

Imposing measures to prevent birth within the group

Forcibly transferring children of thst group to another group

Yes, genocide. And Netanyahu is entirely responsible.

That some still want to 'excuse' what is going on now- is shocking beyond belief. As is the total refusal to accept that this conflict has been going on since the Nakbah- and that Palestine were robbed of their land, livelihood, dignity and so much more, ever since, and not just in Gaza.

As leader he directs it with the approval of parliament who can depose him anytime they like, that’s how democracy works. We may not approve of that, however if there was an election are the voters in Israel really likely to vote for submission to Hamas?.

Unlike Hamas who rule Gaza by dictatorship, you live or die by our command - 40000 have so far.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 12-Aug-24 08:41:10

The entire conduct of Israeli actions these past months has been entirely directed by Netanyahu.

He is the PM

He carries the responsibility.

David49 Netanyahu is so unimportant that he was invited to address the US Congress on 24.07.24 . He's so unimportant that the ICC has charged him with war crimes. Really? Netanyahu is responsible for the way Israel is conducting this war which IMO makes him pivotal.

Personally he is unimportant, he represents the policy of the Israeli parliament, if he is replaced another will take his place. In the unlikely event of an election, policy may or may not change.

In WW2 we had a national government led by Churchill he had the support of parliament and was the spokesman,

I wish I had a simple answer but we all know there isn’t one. It needs an immediate cease fire and two state solution.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 12-Aug-24 08:00:33

Suggestion on media that Israel’s “iron dome” is collapsing under fire from Hezbollah.

There needs to be peace negotiated pdq

So what’s your answer then? What on earth do you think Israel should have done?
Bearing in mind that in the middle east and particularly amongst terrorist groups mercy kindness or no action is interpreted gleefully as weakness.More barbarism from hamas would then follow.

Good question. Of course no one’s happy about the situation and the fate of those people.
What do all the experts suggest?

I’ve seen no support for Hamas and plenty of blame for its actions. None of that makes the killing of civilians, the brutal bombing of schools and hospitals acceptable

David49 Sun 11-Aug-24 20:19:05

Netanyahu is not important, he is commander in chief his risk is only prison, his military risk death defending the nation, so prison should be no deterrent to his belief.

Anniebach Sun 11-Aug-24 20:14:47

All Israel’s fault No blame lies with Hamas

foxie48 Sun 11-Aug-24 20:09:50

I also agree Iam64 Anyone who bothers to read the Israeli press will be well aware of what is going on in Israel. Netanyahu is as guilty as Hamas with regard to keeping this war going. As long as the war continues , he stays out of jail! Israel won't "collapse" but it may take the area into a further and completely unnecessary war. Such a dreadful mess and innocent people are the pawns in this vile war.

Iam64 Sun 11-Aug-24 19:56:41

I’m angry that Netanyahu is leading a war of devastation that’s killing children and civilians. If Israel collapses, I wouldn’t see him as entirely to blame.
It’s an absolute nightmare and I don’t have simple solutions

If Israel collapses, it will be entirely down to Netanyahu

I agree and he is very tenuously holding onto power.
