Appaling.
I sincerely hope they are getting the best care.
Nothing more to say 😔

Report on the incident:

Hats off to the rescuer who held down the attacker:

*Abdullah, 29, who works at TWG tea in Leicester Square, said he intervened to stop the attacker who had blood on his face and chest.
"I heard a scream and I just went outside and saw one guy had a knife," he explained.

"The moment I saw it I just jumped on that guy and grabbed his hand... and put him down on the floor and kicked the knife away from him."
He said a couple of other men also came over to help and held the man down for "four to five" minutes, adding he decided to take action because "I had no time, I just didn't think*

Brave man here.

Why after every attack is there the assumption/speculation that it’s down to mental health ?

Is it any wonder that there is still a stigma in admitting that our mental health is actually unhealthy?

The attackers might just be evil human beings…

maddyone Tue 13-Aug-24 14:40:18

I don’t know GG. I do believe that there is such a thing as pure evil. The man who did this looks utterly normal, but must be evil. Possibly it’s because we can’t imagine anyone actually going out with a knife and trying to kill a little girl, that mental health issues are so often cited.

Anniebach Tue 13-Aug-24 14:44:52

Mental illness is acceptable if one hurts one’s self but not if
others are hurt

maddyone Tue 13-Aug-24 15:01:48

Yes Annie, mental illness is a terrible thing for the sufferer and their family. I just can’t get my head around mental illness being trotted out when a murder or attempted murder has occurred.
I do actually believe some people are just plain bad. Ian Brady is an example.

It’s reported the little girl will need plastic surgery. Poor little girl. My heart aches for her.

Anniebach Tue 13-Aug-24 15:12:00

Maddy the Nottingham murders ?

Can it be mental illness cannot be the cause because one feels one should have sympathy but not if called evil ?

maddyone Tue 13-Aug-24 15:17:01

I know Annie. You’re right.
I watched the BBC Horizon documentary last night about the Nottingham murders. It was a horrendous attack. I could never feel sympathy for him, I feel sympathy for the victims and their families, and also for the murderer’s family, but not for him. Jesus said forgive, but how do you forgive such evil?

Well done to ABDULLAH for tackling the man with the knife and holding him down until others helped 👏👏👏

Boz that’s how incorrect rumours do the rounds you have no idea and there’s absolutely nothing to suggest they were known to each other at this stage

Why shout the name, we ali know who this brave man was.

Stabbed by a white man and an Asian intervened. Tommy Robinson and his mob have gone quiet.

Oh dear, making political gain out of the innocent victims. How many on here poured the same scorn on others for do8ng the same after those Murders. Shameful.

All. Before anyone comes for me!!!!

The attacker is reported as a Romanian National by SKY and the BBC.

Hopefully he will be found guilty and deported to spend the rest of his days in a Romanian prison cell…

Freya5 Tue 13-Aug-24 15:30:49

No mention of the stabbing in Manchester though, man arrested thank goodness.
Another shocking brutal attack.

Sarnia Tue 13-Aug-24 15:33:25

I hope this tragic incident doesn't reignite the Far Right. I don't know his background but police have named him as a Romanian of no fixed abode. I hope social media doesn't embellish those few facts by suggesting he has arrived on a boat. Providing it doesn't affect any court case the Police need to give all the information they have to quell the rumour mongers. I have given up taking my grandchildren to London. At 76 I would be no match for anyone hell bent on violence and I certainly would not want to put them in danger. Sad world, isn't it? I hope the little girl and her Mum make a full recovery in both body and mind.

maddyone Tue 13-Aug-24 15:34:36

In Manchester?
When did that happen?

Casdon Tue 13-Aug-24 15:53:14

Yesterday the 13 year old Welsh schoolgirl was charged and remanded in a Youth Offender’s institution pending sentencing, following her stabbing of another pupil and two teachers earlier this year. Unfortunately these incidents are randomly happening all around us. It’s very hard to see what remedy can be put in place.

There should be more mental hospital where people on medication should be if they refuse medication, they should not be out in the community. There needs to be daily supervision watching them take it if they are in the community, shame if its an infringement of their rights, if they are that bad they cant see right from wrong they should not be in the community.
Prisoners should have rehabilitation and only incarceration in exceptional cases. They shouldn't have free access to mobile phones and restrictions should be put on what they access. Pity if that doesn't suit them , they do the crime they take the restrictions its not as if they are having hard labour.
We don't give victims support they should have, its changed their lives for ever ever..The suffer for life not a few month's or years.

Let down by Royal Mail.
The husband of a good friend died recently. Nearly two weeks ago I sent her a gift: Royal Mail First Class. It still hasn't arrived! I am really annoyed about it, to the point where I will use a different carrier in future angry

Thanks Freya.
It’s just been announced that the little girl stabbed in Leicester Square is an Australian citizen, on holiday here with her mother. What a terrible thing to happen to a child on holiday.

Oh no, that is so sad, poor little girl, poor family sad

If the Nottingham killer is mentally ill and obviously he is, he cannot be evil. Paranoid schizophrenia (if that’s what it is) is an illness of the mind, no different from illness of the body.

MH services have been cut to the bone and what is shocking is that when such mentally ill patients with violent tendencies don’t keep appointments they are discharged. It really is criminally negligent.

Mt61 Wed 14-Aug-24 17:08:27

Thank the lord for Abdulla, very brave, young man 😊

BlueBelle Wed 14-Aug-24 18:51:36

Why not Freya can’t you find something relevant to have a go about FFS yes that’s in capitals too
If you d just saved someone’s life I d probably put your name in capitals too umm ….maybe not seeing as you’re so critical about such a tiny thing
