Still a good few months to wait, then.

It never ceases to astound me that a constant theme since the LP gained power has been to accuse them of “doing nothing”, “lying”, “cheating”, “being downbeat”.

What is it about the current state of our country that you don’t understand?

For pity’s sake at least give them a chance, 12 months, that’s reasonable, to do something tangible.

Believe me it’ll take far more than 12 months to right the wrongs of the last 24 years!

Starmer is a liar and a cheat. He will tax everyone to the hilt, take certain allowances away and we'll end up on our knees!! What was once supposed to be the people's party, is probably worse than the Conservatives. Him and his cronies are very sly!!

Is there any evidence whatsoever for these slurs (liar, cheat, sly - these are libellous words unless they can be proven) , or is it all entirely in your head?

And why would people fall to their knees? Church attendance has been falling for years.

So when did he say that? My take on Brexit which, I believe is Starmers too, is that I wanted a people’s vote because I believed the referendum was won deceitfully using lies and misinformation. But that the 2019 election resulted in people voting for Johnson to ‘get Brexit done’. Therefore the red wall were still very much pro Brexit. And Starmer, having regained their votes, will not turn it around. But what he will do ( and has been working towards this for years) is to rebuild our relationship with Europe. Remember Truss and her ‘Macron, friend or foe’ comment? We were never going to rebuild the ties with our nearest trading partners with PM’s like that.

Well said, cossy. 'Gold plated pensions' are often trotted out by those who haven't caught up with the 21st century. The changes made in 2007 certainly reduced the pension value as did the unilateral change to CPI from RPI the Tories made to reduce the value of indexation (while they continued to collect student loan interest at RPI). Private sector salaries were about twice as much as equivalent senior Civil Service ones and, as you say, salaries were frozen for years.

When he was shadow Brexit spokesman apparently, back in September 2019. When there was still no sign of any sort of Brexit deal.

Church attendance alive and well in my part of the country thank you. As for Starmer
"We won't get rid of the fuel allowance," they did,guess on the advice of Reeves advisor who once called pensioners "codgers and they should be taxed more" oh yes Sir Edward Troupe.
Who said , banging his hand on the desk, "we won't stand for corruption or cronyism" we'll he's now our PM, well not mine, I didn't vote for him, so what happens Lord Alli, a big donor to LP, for the pre elction glow up, £16, 200 for "work clothes, £2,485 for glasses, they havent improved his appearance,or his reading skills, gets a pass to no 10, for what reason?? Dressing the PM.
Oh and Ian Corfield 20,00 donation , £5000 to Reeves, got given a job in international investment, now both gone after news broke,

Knspok, I so agree with you. We only get told what the government wants us to know. I absolutely agree that the LP are all about reducing people to the same level and interfering too much. We are too regulated in all kinds of ways.

As you will see from my very next comment, I mistyped the 24, I did mean 14, but tbh there were issues too in the previous govt. No govts are perfect.

He did have some great policies and was actually a socialist (I consider Starmer far more of a centralist, even though I voted for him)

However, under Corbyn the LP lost two GE’s very badly and it’s so ironic these so called red walls voting for Johnson!

I’m claiming nothing. Just putting out the timeline so that people don’t get confused and assume this was a recent speech, made when he was party leader.

With regards to Liz Truss, I just don’t believe she’d had done that, but I do believe there would have been a great shift towards the USA healthcare (or lack of it) system. She seems quite taken with Farage and admires Trump!

That says it all for me.

In fact under Jeremy Corbyn Labour lost one election very badly but lost one very narrowly, increasing their share of the vote and number of seats quite significantly. It’s history now of course, but still only fair to be accurate.
