Honestly, end of? 🙏
Good Morning Thursday 7th May 2026
Are you irritating in RL? (light hearted)
Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.
Honestly, end of? 🙏
Seems quite obvious the witch hunt here is directed at anyone who dares to not follow the party line. Please note that upto a point this country has some limited freedoms of opinion and for me, I am sick and tired of hearing about black holes which are a complete fabrication of Reeves and Starmer. And guess what? I am allowed to have this opinion. I am surprised that AR is spouting the same propaganda and using it against pensioners. End of ….
It's bloody depressing to see how the working class is really perceived by some.
I think we are all getting tired of the constant moaning about Angela Rayner and hope for an end to it.
So is the constant criticism of Rayner, particularly when it's for half baked "facts"
Well the government of the day is giving a lot of people severe depression Wwm2
ronib
Conservative Woman was a main critic of the Conservatives in government. The quote from Virginia Woolf is worth reading
‘There’s a kind of sadness that comes from knowing too much, from seeing the world as it truly is.’
Woolf was writing about her severe depression - not about the government of the day!!
Correct facts are always useful when discussing a subject I always think.

If that had been Yvette Cooper or any politician seen to be drinking vodka all night, the criticism would be the same. Also in a very expensive nightclub with drugs available. If Keir Starmer is wanting to stop smoking in pub gardens, he won’t have strong grounds for trying to curb excessive drinking and drug taking will he if senior politicians don’t set a good example?
Oh, please give it up, you are beginning to sound a bit obsessed about AR! Drugs available? Well, this may come as a shock to you, but recreational drugs are available everywhere, not just Ibiza clubs, there are no grounds at all to suggest there was excessive drinking, or drug taking by AR, in fact, given the witch hunt that is taking place on GN, I think we can safely assume that had AR partaken of anything in excess, then there would be many people delighted to share the news.
Looking straight at the camera, thoroughly briefed, a little humour, professionaly attired.
In sharp contrast to some.
Thanks Wyllow.
Grenfell, right to buy, WFA, dancing. Whether you agree with her positions or not, she is clearly on top of her brief, and wider party policy.
Its most ly on government policy (she aquits herself well imo), the "dancing in Ibiza" bit is from 9 min onwards.
We should have a "myth and fantasy" forum on gransnet.
Siope, I cant make your link work?
this might

yes it is hypocritical because she did benefit from it but is now apparently happy promoting a policy preventing others from doing the same
Except she isn’t, and I provided a link to her saying so 25 minutes before you posted. Here it is again:
Angela Rayner (from 3.33) being clear that Labour do not plan on scrapping Right to Buy (which I think is a shame) but may, subject to consultation, bring back the much less heavily discounted scheme that she bought her house under.

“Police in the UK have been contacted over reports of cocaine use in the British Parliament, the Associated Press reported on Monday.
"The accounts of drug misuse in Parliament given to the Sunday Times are deeply concerning -- and I will be raising them as a priority with the Metropolitan Police this week," House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle said in a statement. "I expect to see full and effective enforcement of the law."
Hoyle contacted the police following a Sunday Times report that pointed to the use of illegal drugs in Parliament buildings.
‘Drug detection wipes found traces of cocaine in 11 out of 12 bathrooms tested on the premises, according the report, including a lavatory close to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's office. The bathrooms tested included some only accessible to those who hold parliamentary passes, including lawmakers, staffers, and journalists”
Maybe she should avoid going to the House of Commons too, then
No wonder you’re anxious ronib, if you’re reading articles like the one linked by Parsley.
eazybee, I accept we will never agree about Angela Rayner. You don’t accept her parents ‘encouraged her to go clubbing at 14 to the detriment of her school work.’ My impression is her father was missing for long periods. Her mother needed a career - Angela. It seems Angela’s Education wasn’t high on her parents agenda
What also impressed me was her willingness to talk about her difficult background without blame or self pity.
Since she first came to public notice she has done nothing but promote her difficult background, rightly or wrongly at the expense of her parents. I don't believe they encouraged her to go out clubbing when she was 14 and 15 to the detriment of her school work.
Neither..... is there anything wrong or hypocritical in buying a house under existing legislation, and then coming, over a period of years and as the disastrous effects of that policy become clearer, to realise that it needs to change.
Yes it is hypocritical because she did benefit from it but is now apparently happy promoting a policy preventing others from doing the same.

She talks about Grenfell before that, the WFA afterwards, and even touches on the furore around her dancing.

This is the article written from the point of view of someone who feels hard done by and sees Reform as the answer. Conservative Woman might have to think of changing its name.
It is not the truth ronib, it’s pure speculation designed to further inflame the fears of ‘conservative woman’. If you’re allowing yourself to get upset by speculation you will lose the ability to rationalise, it’s far better to avoid it until there are actual facts from the government about their intentions.
Casdon article in Conservative Woman about Labour and spite. I hope it is untrue but changes to threshold so now paying from £125k and not £250k.

I have just read that stamp duty is changing so buying a property will become even more expensive. Good start. Not.
Where did you read that ronib, was it in the article in the Telegraph where James Cleverly, Tory leadership hopeful, is saying if he was PM he would abolish it?
The point about Angela Rayner is the endless criticism usually focusses on her northern accent, clothing etc rather than policies. Johnson Sunak Truss May etc - all criticised for policies
Mollygo
^I think she's going to be condemned / criticised wherever she goes. By someone or other.^
No wonder she fits very well on GN then.
Well she can join the like of May, Truss, Sunak, Boris, all pecked over on here by the some GN, with great relish.. What's good enough for them, good enough for her, don't you think??
