Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

Apologies for the fat thumb errors.

Can you remember when he said she was distracting him at PMQs by crossing her legs? 🤔

It was all in the best possible taste grin

I thought itcwas 19 year old who still went to Ibiza nit 43 year olds. May have been there with her young sons, hope they weren't embarassed by mum's antics.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 14:53:51

No, I don't.

ronib Mon 02-Sept-24 14:51:47

MissAdventure well you seem to be spending quite some time demonstrating just how little you do know about her. Don’t you read the news? Housing targets were announced by AR. Surely that’s important?

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 14:49:02

ronib

You serious MissAdventure ? Not very sure what to say …. 1.5 million new homes are urgently needed. AR is tasked to see their supply. Or is she?

I've no idea, as I don't spend hours ruminating about her, and imaginary news pertaining to her.

For anyone looking down on AR for her perceived 'lack of education', just remember the disaster of a PM that was Boris Johnson, and the extremely elite education he was privileged to have.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 14:40:24

I don't find anyone on here holding back on their holidays, in case someone else can't afford it, and neither did boris and co

I’m sorry but when Starmer is telling us how bad life is going to get and removing the Winter fuel payment from thousands who really need it; I find her out in Ibiza paying 84.00 entrance fee drinking vodka and paying 11.00 for a bottle of water out of touch with what is going on in this country at present.

I doubt if she paid to enter the club. She was probably on the list

Grantanow Mon 02-Sept-24 14:38:00

What a boring story. Politician at dance. Better concentrate on Larry the Cat for a good story.

Poor woman is as entitled to a holiday as anyone else. And can spend her money on what she wants, whether or not some others can't afford to do that.

I would be interested in who took the video. AR must have agreed to put the video out there. So she must have imagined it would mostly do her image good. The only thing, lots of people in this country cannot afford to go holiday, let alone going abroad. I think she should have had this holiday but not put the video out there. It's a bit cruel to those struggling.

Denise Van Outen put up the video.

Were they both Dancing in the Moonlight?

This is just the right-wing press desperate to denigrate a labour politician. Bit pathetic, really.

Absolutely

Many have commented "at her age". She's 44 for goodness' sake! Not exactly young anymore.

She's the new Dianne Abbott and it is so boring...

Oh come on, Dianna Abbott's IQ isn't in triple figures any longer, Angela Raynor is bright and sassy. And I'm not a Labour voter.

You said it yourself OP this is a non-news thread.

Why the heck should the woman not enjoy herself on holiday?

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 14:18:02

I'd let angela worry about that.
She is far more qualified than any of us could ever hope to be. smile

ronib Mon 02-Sept-24 14:15:51

Casdon how is the house building programme? Something like 45k houses should have been built by now to get to the magic housing target set by AR.

Casdon Mon 02-Sept-24 13:59:50

Angela Rayner makes a feature of her poor upbringing. Snobbery is cited; there is certainly plenty of inverted snobbery on this thread.
The assumption that:
There is some snobbery about northerners from some. If they haven't lost their accent then they are looked down upon.........
..... resentment from some that she has "overstepped" boundaries and not stayed in "her place", as they see it....it unsettles them.
Nonsense.
My parents came from Manchester, left school at 14 and had accents all their lives. Never held them or their families back.
What horrifies 'some people', is Angela Rayner's ignorance, lack of education, and the fact that she has no intention of remedying it.
There is no comparison other than hair colour between her and the well-educated, intelligent and ferociously hard working Barbara Castle; she is nothing like 'Red Ellen' (MP for Jarrow) who also came from a very impoverished background but fought tirelessly to improve her education, ending her career as Minister for Education 1945. John Prescott had few educational qualifications but studied at Ruskin College and Hull University; John McDonnell studied A levels at night school then for a degree from Brunel University. There are many more.
Rayner has gained her prominence in Parliament purely due to the influence of the Unions, not by her abilities and at present Starmer cannot upset them.

Do you think that those of us with degrees and higher educational qualifications are more capable of doing a good job than others who don’t eazybee?

I’m well educated academically myself, but I still really don’t believe that means I would be a better politician, I think a government which has people from a wide variety of backgrounds, with different experiences and qualifications, is best placed to serve the different needs of the electorate. Angela Rayner has different experiences and qualifications, not none. For example, from the BSL website:
‘Did you know that new Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner learnt British Sign Language (BSL) while studying at college? She has been a great advocate of BSL, helping to raise awareness of the language and the fact it is the main form of communication for a number of people who are deaf.’ Her experience is in championing the underdog - not many high ranking politicians can say they have a background and experience that enables them to do that.

^I wonder how hung over AR is today and how prepared she is for the working week ahead?’

Be a bloody bad hangover to lasted since last Wednesday or Thursday.

(The video was originally posted at 4am on Thursday, but there’s nothing to say it was live)
