It ends tomorrow.

Rachel Reeves is just standing up now (noon) to deliver her speech.

There was ‘booing’ from the audience earlier about non discussion of the WFA.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 23-Sept-24 14:55:40

Did they? Blimey.

eazybee Mon 23-Sept-24 15:03:19

Well, what has he done so far?
Added to the mysterious £22 billion black hole that The Treasury won't allow to be investigated.
Very large pay rises to train drivers and junior doctors, being £9 billion of the £22 billion hole.
Removed the winter fuel Allowance from pensioners.
Set up the national wealth fund . Which is?
Set up GB Energy? To be funded by energy bill increases.
Set up new planning framework to 'encourage swifter construction of essential national infrastructure and more homebuilding' that is , remove essential planning restrictions and allow ugly homes to be built on green belt.
Started recruitment of additional police officers and teachers.
Really?
Meanwhile, Starmer and his team have made themselves contemptible because of their greed for 'gifts' and their lies about their true purpose.

I suggest you start reading Whitewavemark’s First 100 Days thread eazybee. I think she’s been away, but no doubt will be back on the task soon. Unlike your post, she is reporting what’s actually happening without a spin, and it’s been very helpful.

Actually eazybee when you look at what’s been achieved in two months it is going well. There’s a lot of noise around the edges, but the actual business of government is happening despite that. Lots of people, including lots of Gransnetters have their eyes on the small balls not the big ones, which is their choice of course.

🤣🤣

I’m looking at Starmer, but I hadn’t noticed the size.

Love this one. Of course in the real story none of the yes-men had the nerve to tell the emperor that he was looking like a fool walking about in his knickers. Only when an innocent child piped up did the "people" begin to see the truth.

Kid standing up “I voted for change”. He’s being manhandled by security out of the room.

RR: “This is NOT a party of protest”.

Oh dear.

Yes from pictures, looks like this young man was possibly assaulted. Freedom of speech being stamped by those who only want you to spout from their ideology. Shame on Reeves.

I happened to be in the room when my husband had her on the radio, we both agreed she was well worth listening to and agreed with many of her comments, I wish I could remember them all.

Sharon or Rachel?

😂
Going well? Unfortunately not.

It depends what you measure - public opinion and popularity, or decisions made and actions taken.

Let me think, 🤔 actually both!

TerriBull Mon 23-Sept-24 20:37:04

Sharon that's to Oreo

Annma Tue 24-Sept-24 12:28:46

Iagree that Sharon Graham is impressive and actually “gets it” with regards to ordinary people who are generally trying their best to keep going The government need to listen to her.

orly Tue 24-Sept-24 12:49:17

What a so pro-feminist rant at the start of her speech! At times Keir Starmer looked like he was thinking "What have I done unleashing all these go by women on the electorate?". Many of the males attendees in the audience also looked peeved.

I think Eazybee is actually the one to have got it spot on.I don’t need a 100 days thread with copy and paste from The Guardian coming at me every day.We can all do our own reading on what the new government is up to.

Opinions vary though Oreo, and the pieces about what is happening come from a variety of sources, which, as many people don’t source their information that way, is helpful - or should I say, I find it so.

Oreo Tue 24-Sept-24 13:55:05

Glad you enjoy it Casdon somebody has to.

Mojack26 Tue 24-Sept-24 14:22:05

We pay it already

Mollygo Tue 24-Sept-24 14:24:09

A variety of sources is excellent. I’ve seen that used before with the additional comment -*which applies whoever you support* that you can choose which sources you quote or believe.

Dragged out by his neck and his head "accidentally" banged against the wall.

Listening to her on the radio might have been fine, Terribull but watching her expressions and body language she looked mightily pleased with herself and very smug.

She has her eye on promotion imo.

Cut and paste from one newspaper is not a variety of sources though.

I might look at the despised Daily Mail, the Independent and The Guardian.

The original posts are mainly from the Guardian and the BBC, but there are further links to all the major discussion points, I just checked the last thread. I read all sorts if a topic interests me, but I don’t think many people do. Reuters is one of the best.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 24-Sept-24 15:11:35

Oops!

Slip of the tongue apparently by Starmer this afternoon. He said ‘sausages’ instead of ‘hostages’.

Wyllow3 Tue 24-Sept-24 15:13:56

Posters could follow the BCC I player ongoing report on Starmer's key speech to see what he actually does say on a number of these issues? You can dip in and out of the summary and key points.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c05glg08712t

I except there will be an overall summary at the end, but he addresses issues raised above.
