A woman of integrity.

1600 C&A stores worldwide. None in the UK.

Casdon Sun 29-Sept-24 22:20:52

It does Rosie51, it’s a Dutch brand I think, no longer available in the UK but it is in Europe, which is why I thought it would be suitable. Man at Primark doesn’t have the same kudos somehow.

Anniebach and obviously different views on the meaning of lies and truth.

Thanks for the apology for the fatuous comment does my niece have dementia, when I'd stated she's a midwife......oh hold on, of course there wasn't one. My niece lives a mile or so from me, involving a minimal drive, not a 300 mile round trip. Didn't we all condemn Dominic Cummings for driving from London to Durham because it breached the rules? That Johnson saw fit to manufacture a series of lies to cover for him didn't make it right.

Stephen didn’t lie, he spoke openly of his visit to his parents, did RD speak openly of her meeting with her man friend?
Big difference, mother with dementia and spending time with a lover, well there is for me

You obviously can’t see the need to see parents were safe yet you can for a tired midwife we are not going to agree on this

Rosie51 Sun 29-Sept-24 22:32:44

My dad had a suit from C&A, he wore it to my wedding as he couldn't afford a new one. I loved him and was proud of him. He was Labour through and through. I don't think he'd like aspects of present day politics at all, even including aspects of Labour.
I don't venture into Primark, but from what I read it's definitely a step down quality wise from C&A as was.

ronib Sun 29-Sept-24 22:33:31

Matt Hancock also spent time with his lover. So did a few other people….

Grantanow Sun 29-Sept-24 22:36:00

Why does anyone need glasses costing £2500?

nightowl Sun 29-Sept-24 22:36:06

Another thread becoming personal, this is the reason I decided long ago to stop posting on the political threads, it’s unpleasant and unnecessary. Whether we approve of Rosie Duffield having a married lover is not the point at issue - of course we’re all so perfect here - and digs at other people’s loved ones are out of order.

I’ll leave you to it.

Anniebach Sun 29-Sept-24 22:39:13

Rosie Duffield and her affairs are of no interest to me, I spoke of it because she had been given a position in parliament by Starmer, yet now says he has a problem with women

MayBee70 Mon 30-Sept-24 01:24:48

Having just read her letter it just seems like a personal attack on Starmer and disgruntlement that he had risen through the ranks without being on the back benches. I also don’t understand why she’s blaming him for child poverty after 14 years of Conservative government.

Anniebach Mon 30-Sept-24 02:05:05

It was a personal attack, explains why she is applauded here.

nanna8 Mon 30-Sept-24 02:49:26

This is getting nasty now. Not worth any more comments, no one will change their minds, clearly . It is either Saint Keir or dodgy Keir Harmer. Personally I think the latter and that it was a mistake to put him forward as PM. Time will tell no doubt.

Anniebach Mon 30-Sept-24 02:58:37

It has been nasty from the beginning of the thread

Galaxy Mon 30-Sept-24 05:54:48

Not in my opinion it hasnt. It's been comments on quite an important news story.

M0nica Mon 30-Sept-24 06:40:13

Let those who are without sin throw the first stone.

Allsorts Mon 30-Sept-24 06:55:47

I think its KS and co greedy acceptance of freebies and total disregard for public opinion and weldare which she's on about. She has integrity and is better off out of it and keeping her principles. If you're not like them you wouldn't last long with the sharks.

Parsley3 Mon 30-Sept-24 11:02:19

I am sick of the stories of nepotism, rule breaking, sleaze, greed, spin doctoring, lies and behaviour unbecoming that has gone on for years now. Therefore, I am not surprised that there is little tolerance for a new government being perceived as going down the same route. Duffield is having her 15 minutes of fame just now but next week the media will have some other story hitting the headlines to stir up public dissent.

MelAnt2 Mon 30-Sept-24 11:25:23

I so admire RD, and I’m so disappointed with KS. It was all so exciting to contemplate having a change of government, who would do something about our public services, but it looks like he is not competent enough to be PM. Of course they totally mishandled the winter fuel payment cancellation whilst accepting freebies.

albertina Mon 30-Sept-24 11:40:30

After the waves of disappointment that have hit me over the Labour party recently, this is a breath of fresh air. Thank you Rosie.

Wheniwasyourage Mon 30-Sept-24 11:41:19

I have only skimmed the full thread, so someone might already have said this; if so, I apologise.

Many people, me included, thought that a Labour government would be a very welcome change after 14 years of the appalling Tories. I am still glad that we have a Labour government, but very disappointed in the apparently frequent freebies, not to mention the threat of further austerity instead of some proper investment to grow the economy. Let alone the two-child cap and the WFP.

However - if RD is also disappointed in what has been happening so far, I think that she is right to resign the whip. Her constituents may well have voted for the LP manifesto, or to get rid of the Tories, or as a personal vote. If she is a believer in the previous values of the LP, including the manifesto, can't she still be representing her constituents as much as she did before? Therefore, no by-election required.

Twig14 Mon 30-Sept-24 11:45:11

Very well done. Need more like her.

Anniebach Mon 30-Sept-24 11:45:13

Her constituents voted for a Labour MP. If she resigned and stood again as an independent that would be fair to her and the
constituents

Did he mishandle the riots, too? What else has he proved to be incompetent with?

Very interesting article about Duffield from the area she represents - the people who actually know her as their MP. It was written in June 2024 so it’s not ‘sour grapes’ about her resignation.

Shines a different light on the ‘holier than though’ Ms Duffield!

Just read Rosie Duffield's resignation letter. Well said. That told him! Also just read your link LizzyDrip and as far as I'm concerned it only confirms her honesty. Criticising a person of principles with a moral compass is interesting LizzyDrip, no wonder you back that man.

TheWeirdo Mon 30-Sept-24 12:13:02

Rosie for PM is what I say!

nanna8 Mon 30-Sept-24 12:14:17

Didn’t take long, did it ?
