Please count me amongst so many LP members I know who never would have dreamt of chanting that!

Such hypocrisy, members of the Labour Party chanting
that yet Rosie Duffield chose to stand as a Labour MP less than
3 months ago.

Starmer launched his election campaign in the county of Kent. At that time Kent had one elected Labour MP, Rosie Duffield Can anyone suggest a reason why the leader of the Labour party would not invite the only elected Labour MP to that launch? Especially when he'd made a great show of having photos taken for the media only weeks earlier welcoming Nadia Elphicke the Conservative MP for Dover when she crossed the floor. Must have made Rosie feel so valued and respected eh?

She she refused to attend the hustings

I resigned my membership of the LP partly because of their stance on trans tights taking precedence over women's rights. I am not pretending anything.

I admire RD's stance on that, but I don't think that doing one good thing makes doing other less good things ok, whether that is by a politician or anyone else.

RD refused to attend hustings over fears for her personal safety.

Starmer launched his election camopaign on 23rd May in Kent. Rosie Duffield announced on 14th June she was cancelling attending hustings because of the death threats she'd received. Starmer must have amazing powers to see into the future if that was his justification, or maybe as someone who finally got to "99.9% of women don't have a penis" he just feels intimidated by her superior biological knowledge.

On 20 January 2023, Duffield wrote a column in which she stated that being a member of the Labour Party is like being in an "abusive relationship" and that she feels the party has a "woman problem" after she was criticised for voicing her opposition to the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon's Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill.[64][65]

Yet still stood for Labour in 2024

Not going to defend Starmer's amazing foresight, or are you withdrawing that as the reason he decided the only elected Labour MP in Kent was not welcome at his election launch?

I actually am not sure how I feel about her resignation but I do understand it, it's probably how I feel, I voted for them a few weeks ago, I dont know if I would vote for them tomorrow if there was an election, I had many doubts on election day, maybe there just reaches a tipping point when the doubts boil over.

Would we vote for any party if we knew what they were actually going to be like in power? I nearly voted for the Conservatives once over two promises neither of which they kept. Here in the NE the Conservative won many years ago by promising to dual parts of the A1 which still haven’t been done.

She said Labour was abusive over a year earlier yet her tipping point didn’t come for nearly 3 months after she was elected to
stand for Labour . So different to Ruth Smeeth who stood down only months before a general election

I and my 2 sons were once nearly killed or at the very least seriously injured on the A1 towards Alnwick, I still dont know how I avoided the car. I dont think I will see it dualled in my lifetime.

‘A £290m plan to part-dual the A1 north of Newcastle will help to rebalance the economy of the North East, prime minister David Cameron has said.
The pledge to upgrade a 13-mile stretch to Ellingham, near Alnwick, and create additional passing lanes, was widely welcomed by business leaders.
The proposal is part of a £15bn "roads revolution" for England announced by the coalition.
But Labour said the proposals were re-announcements of earlier promises.
Other schemes given the go-ahead in the North East include improvements to the A1 Gateshead Western Bypass and studies into the possible dualling of the A66 and A69 cross-Pennine routes.
Mr Cameron, who confirmed the improvements during a brief trip to Cramlington in Northumberland, said: "This has a lot to do with the fact that I want to see a rebalanced economy.

"This is one of the premium exporting regions of our economy and it needs a modern road, rail and port infrastructure and I think this announcement will bring with it jobs and prosperity for the North East."
Liberal Democrat MP for Berwick, Sir Alan Beith, who has long campaigned for the A1 to be dualled, added: "This will send a strong message that we are open for business in Northumberland and that the world doesn't stop at Newcastle."
Alan Fergusson, boss of Northumberland-based haulier Fergusons Transport, said: "Obviously we would have liked the dualling all the way to Scotland, but we have still been given fantastic news.
"We have been campaigning for this for years and we have got a result."
But Michael Dugher MP, Labour's Shadow Transport Secretary, said: "This is just yet another re-announcement on promised road improvements.
"The government has 'announced' plans for road investment at least three times since 2013 and no additional money has been announced.
"Local roads have been completely ignored under this government. Maintenance investment in local roads has declined in real terms from 2010 to 2014’.
I think Alan Bleith lost his seat to Ann Marie Trevellyan ( sp) because of that promise. And he was a really good constituency MP.

MayBee70 but we have lost previously approved funding for our local hospital and I read in the newsletter from the newly elected Labour mp that the funds were not in place. The previous Conservative mp said they were. Do we call the fraud squad to investigate the missing money?

If there are no funds now then I presume a previous hopeful commitment was no longer available.

But how does one search for this kind of "promised" funding unless it was earmarked in writing in some document?
