A woman of integrity.

👏👏👏

A woman with principles.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 28-Sept-24 21:06:35

Yes good for her.

nightowl Sat 28-Sept-24 21:23:15

A brave MP who has principles and is willing to act on them even at personal cost. I don’t agree with her on everything but I wish there were more of her ilk.

Rekarie Sat 28-Sept-24 21:30:39

She sure does have principles.

Well done to her.

NanKate Sat 28-Sept-24 21:31:49

I agree sparklefizz well done to RD 👍

Smileless2012 Sat 28-Sept-24 21:37:00

Well she certainly didn't hold back in her letter of resignation did she. Well done RD.

LovesBach Sat 28-Sept-24 21:39:19

I wish her every success as an Independent MP. She deserves it - she has been brave.

ronib Sat 28-Sept-24 21:41:52

Do you suppose KS read the resignation letter? Do we know what his response is?
I hope more will follow RD’s lead.

M0nica Sat 28-Sept-24 22:07:10

No place for a woman (or man) of principle in any political party these days.

Bridie22 Sat 28-Sept-24 22:17:00

Well said Rosie, good to see a politician with principles.👏

Spinnaker Sat 28-Sept-24 22:39:53

Let's hope this is just the beginning of his downfall 🤞

maddyfour Sat 28-Sept-24 23:06:12

She’s very brave and followed her conscience. Well done to her for that. Not many would.

Kate1949 Sat 28-Sept-24 23:12:20

Well done Rosie

She could see the rot setting in

nanna8 Sun 29-Sept-24 01:48:44

I just read about this - good for her. Starmer should resign and join the Tories. He is not a true Labour man. The country needs people like her- we could do with some, too.

ronib Sun 29-Sept-24 04:20:58

nanna8. What are you thinking? Do you want to ensure the conservatives never make a political recovery?
I am inclined to agree with RD that KS doesn’t have the right political experience for the top job. Out of his depth completely? In fact it’s felt like this from the start. Or maybe the actual role of prime minister is just too overwhelming and needs to be changed in some way? If you read RD’s resignation letter, the clues are there.

Rosie Duffield has the backbone that the PM should have. But he's too busy helping his Chancellor kick pensioners in the teeth and doing an inventory of all the glittery freebies from well-to-do sycophants.

Who will expect Sir Keir to run things for THEIR lucrative benefit in return.

It's plain enough - we have a PM who can, shamefully, be bought by the rich.

escaped Sun 29-Sept-24 06:25:13

I guess it had to be said by someone with principles in the party. Good for her.

I was saddened to read that no interest had been shown by the Labour party in her constituents (Kent) for over 7 years, how must they feel? Also, reading her say that Starmer has no "understanding", just confirms what most posters are saying on the 8 page thread on GN.

Lomo123 Sun 29-Sept-24 06:32:23

👏👏👏. Well said RD. Indeed a woman of principle.

TerriBull Sun 29-Sept-24 07:07:40

Sometimes we're inclined to forget that not every MP is a self serving career politician and there are those who go out on a limb for their principles. RD had already been shunned by some party members and blanked by KS for her stance on Women only places, whilst, he, prevaricated on whether a woman could have a penis or not before the election, which gave us a snapshot of what may come down the line. Well done Rosie Duffield on your resignation for all the reasons you gave in your letter, our country needs brave people like you to set standards that we should expect from a party leader, but time and time again let us down.

Anniebach Sun 29-Sept-24 07:15:08

Standing as a Labour Party candidate was brave ?

karmalady Sun 29-Sept-24 07:23:23

Good for Rosie, she has uplifted my spirits, a woman of principle.

BevSec Sun 29-Sept-24 07:36:08

Just read the letter, every word true. Well done Rosie.
