In two days time it will be the anniversary of the Israeli massacre where around 1200 people were murdered and around 300 people were taken hostage.
Today there is a big pro Palestine march him London. Would it have been more respectful and appropriate to have waited till next week or later in the month for this march to take place, especially since the first bombing of Gaza started on 13/10/23 and Israeli troops first entered Gaza on 27/10/23.
Agree 👏👏👏 ,
a Jewish friend reminded me today that in the Jewish religion, no one should rejoice in the fall of an enemy. (Fleurpepper)
Well I can confirm that my Jewish friends continue to rejoice in the fall of the Third Reich
Thank you maddyfour and well expressed.😃
I do get tired of being told by one poster what other Jews are thinking, especially when not Jewish!
I have no idea what thousands of Jewish people are thinking either, but I know what our Jewish Gransnetters say on these threads, and that is that they want the hostages released and antisemitism to stop, since some of those Jewish Gransnetters live here in the UK. They also want Hamas to stop their terror campaign so that there can be peace. One of them lives in Israel and has expressed her fear of the bombs and missiles being fired everyday into Israel. I’m sure many Palestinians feel the same way, they just want to survive. Unfortunately there are still many Hamas supporters among the Palestinians though, otherwise the war would stop.
My Jewish friends in America (I only claim to know one couple that I’m in regular contact with) want the hostages released. They think the world has forgotten the hostages.
When on holiday recently we met a number of Jewish people. We talked to them, and when I realised they were Jewish (because they told me, not because they are any different than myself) I expressed our solidarity with the Jewish people and what they are currently going through, and they thanked me. These people were all American Jewish people. We were on a cruise, as were they.
I have no idea what thousands of Jews are thinking, I give my own views and opinions , I have quoted Lily Ebert but not as someone I know but as a holocaust survivor.
Oh chat away, why would anyone silence you?And how?
It wasn’t BN’s actions that killed more Jews since the holocaust it was hamas and their actions.
You can’t know what 1000’s of their friends think, I’m Jewish and can’t say what so many think. Most are worried about the hostages and the threat of living under a barrage of missiles coming from Lebanon every single day of the last year since the October massacre.Jews here in the UK are resigned to the increased antisemitism, it’s just more of the same.
We all want to live peacefully but that won’t happen by caving in to terrorism.
Hiw on earth can people make sure you are silenced. What on earth do you mean. They might put a different view forward and argue with you, this is not silencing.

May I ask is this your same Jewish friend or do you know two
Jews ?😂
You find this funny? In the circumstances. I have few Jewish friends, in the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and the USA. But they all agree, Netanyahu's actions puts them and their family at risk at never since the Holocaust. THEY have 1000s of friends and acquaintances who feel the same, and live in fear. They have Jewish friends and family all over the world, and in Israel too. They know a lot better than me.
Anyone who believes this 'war' started last October, and will finish when hostages released, is totally naïve (most polite word I can find here).
They also live in fear that there will be NO way back to peace from this. And that Netanyahu will precipitate the world into WW3, most likely.
Will withdraw from this thread, as I am sure some will make sure I am silenced.

I have just had this sent to me by a Jewish friend…
The Israeli population are eternally grateful for the protection that Iron Dome provides. And not only Hamas. Rockets arrive over Israel from all directions. It is surrounded by people who would like to see the while country wiped out.
The people of Israel fight for democracy and its freedom to exist, just as the people of Ukraine do, and we in the Uk are right to help them rather than standing by and looking on as they destroyed.why, oh why do you think?
Some of you truly make me feel sick.
A Jewish friend reminded me today that in the Jewish religion, one should never rejoice in the fall of an enemy.
No rejoicing going on here Fleurpepper, just a recognition that to not support both Israel and the Ukraine in their current struggle for their democratic way of life would be hypocritical.
Maybe the ‘why’ is because some people hold democracy dear to them and value a free and independent life?
I also support the UN in its aid for all the people caught up in the middle. Sadly Hamas didn’t think to build enough shelters to protect their citizens before they launched their big offensive.
If Hamas surrenders and releases the remaining hostages this could be over.
All war is dreadful, Hamas knew their actions on 7/10/23 would have dire consequences, but they carry on regardless.
Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah are terrorists, they are the evil ones!
I doubt you have as many Jewish friends as me Fleurpepper
You say ‘how can a country that is being attacked as Palestine has not retaliate?’ I assume you do know the reason the IDF went into Gaza? Or are you a massacre denier ( yes they do exist sadly).
Israel has to protect itself for the future and there was no other way to do it.

Keep going Israel. It’s not over yet. 🇮🇱
Continue until what? Until the whole Palestinian people are dead and the country fully taken over?
And what then, they will still be surrounded by enemies. Enemies so much more determined because of what we have witnessed since 1948, and a million times more so since October last year. And the appalling attacks on Lebanon.
As a Jewish friend told me- Netanyahu will take us all down with them, not just the Jews, much more at risk now than they have ever been since the Holocaust- but the whole world. Escalation will happen, and when it does, it will be the start of the end, for all- Jews, Palestinians and the whole world.
How can a country that is being attacked as Palestine has been, not retaliate? Why is defence and war only for some? And the release of the hostages will make absolutely NO difference to the conflict- Israel won't stop now, whatever.

This morning I heard Dr Claire Frost interviewed on radio 4 news . She's a British GP volunteering in Gaza, well worth a listen if you don't trust doctors working in Gaza. I've also listened to two episodes of This American Life, one with Israeli hostages who were released after 51 days and the other about a Gazan girl, one of a group of 13 Palestinian school children accepted on the YES programme ( spend one Year in an American school) who arrived in the US in Sept 2023. These are real people talking about real experiences. I've found them very moving accounts but also informative.
My interpretation would be because it is not currently clear whether Netanyahu wants to permanently annex Gaza as part of Israel.
The evidence, under the current war cabinet, of their slowly settling further and further into to the West Bank (with IDF protection) to do just this, means there isn't confidence in Gaza they will be able to re settle their land.

There is no doubt that fires in war are absolutely awful (as they are anywhere.)
No one likes these things happening, it’s horrendous.
Given these terrible things that are happening, why on earth will Hamas not put down their arms, release the hostages, and accept that their people have suffered enough?
Because they’re 🤬( insert your unprintable word here)
Keep going Israel. It’s not over yet. 🇮🇱
At least four people were killed and dozens injured, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
The Hamas run health ministry ! The latest few hostages released, one young girl had been held in the home of a doctor.
There was a post some time ago re a doctor working in Gaza,
he was operating on a little girl, half her face had been blown away and he had to amputate both her legs .without anaesthetic. Truth ?
