The result will be announced at 11am tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The "turnout" was not high. (Telegraph).

Kemi Badenoch was the favourite last week

"A survey of Tory members by the ConservativeHome website last week suggested, external Badenoch led Jenrick by 55% to 31%, with a further 14% undecided."

As regards discussion had to find an accessible website

Will there be a surprise?

Well they arent going to organise to be the opposition the non conservatives want to see.

She said it’s “time to tell the truth” - meaning they were lying before?

I didn't think that.. I thought it was honest politics from every angle especially calling out Labour and their Bull Dust.

MaizieD Sat 02-Nov-24 12:08:52

She recently said that the purpose of government is to serve business.

It chilled me to the bone. Others may feel differently...

I think it could be wishful thinking that they'll "organise" at all.

we have to be honest – honest about the fact that we made mistakes, honest about the fact that we let standards slip. The time has come to tell the truth.

An honest admission that they got things wrong, shame you omitted her previous words.

Kemi Badenoch is not my choice, but I am willing to give her a go and see what she does/says in the coming weeks.

Indeed eazybee.
Selective quotes don’t tell the truth either.

She may be a breath of fresh air for the Conservative Party as she’s so different from anyone before her.
And hats off to the MP’s and members who selected a black African woman to the top post. They’ve already had an Asian heritage man as PM and a woman in the past.
Labour need to play catch up in this regard as we’ve never had a female or a black person/Asian person or a woman as our leader or PM.

nanna8 Sat 02-Nov-24 12:36:45

I don’t think race or background should even enter into it. Hope she turns out to be good at her job and gives those out of touch people in Parliament a run for their money

Oreo Sat 02-Nov-24 12:42:05

But it does enter in it as it does with any job.For so long there was racial prejudice and thoughts that the general population wouldn’t accept or vote for anybody except a white man.
If anyone other than a white man gets close to a top position think of the obstacles they needed to overcome to get there, which shows how worthy they are of the position.

That’s great easybee; I’ll wait with bated breath for honest Ms Badenoch to explain to the country about all the mistakes they made and the standards they let slip - her words, not mine.

Looking forward to it!

Babs03 Sat 02-Nov-24 12:48:23

Am no fan but am glad that a black woman is leader of the Tory party. Just as I was glad Sunak became PM. My dislike of their politics aside it sends out positive messages to young black people and people of colour.

We have in Wales Oreo. In any case I really don’t think that it comes down to prejudice, when Labour currently have the first female chancellor and the first African heritage foreign secretary. I think and hope that regardless of party it should be down to ability to do the job in hand.
I do think Badenoch will rattle everybody’s cages, both within and outside the Tory party - whether she has the necessary keys is anybody’s guess at this stage.

eazybee Sat 02-Nov-24 12:58:36

If you read articles in the press written by Conservatives you would have seen that the Tory party has been continuously admitting and examining its mistakes since immediately after the Election.

Wyllow3 Sat 02-Nov-24 13:18:48

I haven't seen them in certain newspapers nor here in GM.

BTW, I agree after a summer in the playground to say "Jenrick took an odious step" rather than "the odious Jenrick".

Cabinet appointments are going to be interesting, Jenrick in, but key centrists ruled themselves out.

Wyllow3 Sat 02-Nov-24 13:20:18

Kemi Badenoch will be the Sunday interview with Laura Kuenssberg.

It’s said by some that Badenoch will give Starmer a run for his money at the despatch box.

Hopefully so👍🏻

Wyllow3 Sat 02-Nov-24 13:26:20

Varying predictions on that, since she can be a loose cannon! Time will tell.

I wonder if Suella Braverman, who has gone to ground, will be back?

Visgir1 Sat 02-Nov-24 14:09:24

Casdon... She supported Jenrick, she announced it to her local Constituency.

Wyllow3 Sat 02-Nov-24 14:18:55

This is really good news!

Play the ball not the man. Jenrick an MP with odious ideas.

Yes.
I'd forgotten that was him but that was a very mean and unkind thing to do.

Allira Sat 02-Nov-24 14:36:45

I suppose the big question is, what do we think of her hair?

😂😂😂

Look, no-one is going to live up to Angela's standards but at least she's got more than James Cleverly.

Hair is not everything!
