Is Queen Camilla more poorly than we think?

She wasn’t well enough to attend the Remembrance Service. Now it’s been confirmed that she will not be going to the Royal Variety Performance tonight. (Not that I blame her, I’d duck it too if it was on my itinerary). However these engagements are 3 weeks apart. It got me wondering. I hope she’s okay.

I feel a discussion about the RF wouldn’t be the same without paddyanne’s rather predictable outpourings. I don’t take them at all seriously and a watered down version would be a disappointment. 😂

paddyann never misses a chance to take a swipe at the Royals, regardless of whatever else is happening.

As others have said, don’t read the threads or comment on them if it annoys you.

I love this old clip of Camilla and Charles with Dame Edna at a Royal Variety Performance. C and C in fits. 🤣

Paddyanne isn’t the only one who is hurting at the moment. It doesn’t mean that you have Carte Blanche to be horrible about other people, whether you’ve met them or not.

How unpleasant to say “self inflicted smokers cough”, the insinuation being, I suppose, that she deserves nothing less because she has been a smoker. Such a vicious and unnecessary thing to say. Many of us will have grown up with loved ones who were heavy smokers. Would it be right to say they deserved everything they got as a result of being smokers? Let’s remember that advertising at one time encouraged smoking as being “the thing to do”, that it was “fashionable”.
For goodness sake, even doctors in the early 20th century encouraged it as a way of calming “the nerves”.

You are hurting paddyanne so it’s quite understandable right now that this all seems a nonsense. It’s only a discussion.
Sympathy extended to you and yours.
And I hope your daughter gets a reassuring result.

I second that.

No worship on this thread but a hatefest definitely,

Paddyann you hate a woman you have never met , or was she in the photograph shoot of some of the royal family you took for some years ago ?

Grunty Sat 23-Nov-24 20:43:06

The whole royal worship escapes me it’s all very very strange And yet here you are. Again.

Grunty Sat 23-Nov-24 20:42:01

At least she isn’t taking a valuable NHS appointment with her self inflicted smoker’s chest

I do hope that the author of this little bit of spite is not so much as an ounce overweight, drinks no alcohol, never indulges in anything other than 100% unprocessed food, takes a minimum of 10,000 steps a day and has a BMI no higher than 24.9. If not, I'm afraid I'd have to suspect that you're a rather unpleasant hypocrite.

How odd.

I think most folk have more to worry about than Camilla.whether she’s ill or not has no effect on my life.Weve lost 5 friends in recent weeks have the last funeral next week and daughter waiting for biopsy results .I don’t understand what this thread is about..a woman you don’t know who probably wouldn’t are less about you , The whole royal worship escapes me it’s all very very strange

Yes poor, working class people showing off, not at all attractive.

mae13 Sat 23-Nov-24 20:10:16

Oh, she's probably OK - she's just diplomatically ducking out of the Royal Variety pantomime. And would anybody blame her?
I can imagine her telling Charles "yes, I know I said 'for better or worse' but the Royal Variety is THE absolute limit......"

pascal30 Sat 23-Nov-24 19:48:56

It's a punishing schedule for someone it their mid 70's.. I'm amazed at what she does manage, and with such grace and humour..

Jeanathome Sat 23-Nov-24 19:38:37

I guess, like many of us, she is getting on a bit. Unlike many of us, she has beautiful clothes and a team behind her.

Iam64 Sat 23-Nov-24 19:20:11

I’m not a fervent royalist. I see Camilla as hardworking and having integrity in her current role. I’m confident if she was well enough, she’d be there, even if she’d have preferred a sofa night with a drink and a dog snuggled next to her

Anniebach Sat 23-Nov-24 16:05:50

I doubt she would pull out and pull out on the. Day ?

Ramblingrose22 Sat 23-Nov-24 15:40:40

Could it be that Camilla doesn't fancy any of the acts in the Royal Variety Show......?!

I recall the performers in many a past RVS and thinking hiw glad I was that I could miss it.

Of course, if she is ill I hope she gets better soon.

Kate1949 Sat 23-Nov-24 15:35:41

Well yes Cate.

NotAGran55 Sat 23-Nov-24 15:26:20

Kate1949

I've never understood people referring to the Princess of Wales as Kate. There is no K in her name.

Her dad , Mike, calls her K/Cate.
He did so when he was in our company office on the phone with her.

Aprilgem Sat 23-Nov-24 14:49:40

I hope she gets well soon too. Getting used to her now and like her stylish appearance. She be off to India with King Charles in the New Year.

DH has this horrible virus. The Dr said it’s doing the rounds and could take up to 8 weeks to clear . He had his annual blood tests while he was there and they’ve come back abnormal, so the surgery have booked him another appointment. Never known anything like it.
It might be a while before the Queen feels back to full strength if my DH is anything to go by, he’s younger too 🤞

You can feel better and think it's gone but then get a really annoying tickle in the throat and off you go, coughing and choking again.
Changes in temperature, going in the car, anything seems to start it off.
Royal Variety Performance would definitely be a trigger!

I hope his blood results are just a temporary blip and he feels better soon.
