The abuse goes on

I’ve just read in the Daily Mail (you know that newspaper that never reports any news) about the case of a mother from Tower Hamlets who has been selling her 15 year old daughter to a man for sexual abuse for two years!
What kind of a mother does that? And what kind of a vile individual buys sexual services from a child?
Following on from the cases of Sara and Isabella, both in the news this last week, I noticed this case being reported today and I just thought

it never ends, these poor abused children, it never ends

The man got ten years I think, and the mother five years. I suppose both will only do half their sentences.

It is heartbreaking, the person who gave birth and whose job it was to protect her, sold her as a sex slave.

If I hear lessons will be learnt I will scream

If I hear lessons will be learnt I will scream
Me too.

Vile woman.
Vile paedophile.

Both of them deserve far longer sentences.

So the DM does report news then!

petal53 Tue 17-Dec-24 13:53:28

Yes, it does report news love0c but unfortunately this is news no one really wants to hear. It didn’t say anything about where the girl is now. Obviously she’ll be under the care of the Local Authority but whether she’s in foster care, or placed with a suitable family member, it doesn’t say.
Poor child.

What kind of comment is that when a poster has just posted about another horrific story of abuse?

petal53 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:02:34

Incidentally, I’ve looked, but I can’t find anything about this case in The Guardian. It may have been reported in there, but I can’t find it. I only see The Mail and The Guardian and so I don’t know if it’s been reported in other papers. I haven’t seen tv news today so I don’t know if it’s been reported by any mainstream news outlets. What does it say about our society when a hideous crime such as this is barely reported?

I did see in The Guardian that Sharif has been sentenced to 40 years minimum for the murder of Sara, and his wife to 33 years minimum. They deserve that and more!

Bridie22 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:05:05

Starmer really not keen on pensioners is he?
Washing women will not get any payout even though many lost thousands of pounds in pension .

petal53 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:07:00

Just had a quick look, The Mail has reported on the Sharif sentencing too. Actually I misreported slightly, they’ve both got life, but the 40 and 33 years are minimum terms. The uncle got 16 years.

petal53 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:08:22

I think maybe you’re on the wrong thread Bridie. An important subject, but not really suitable for discussion on a thread about child sexual abuse.

Bridie22 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:29:36

Oops so sorry, thought it was the news and politics thread!
Just checked! I did mean it to go on this thread as its news and politics.

It's a thread about another case of child abuse.

Bridie22 Tue 17-Dec-24 14:31:50

I understand that horrific as that is, its still a news and politics thread surely?

ferry23 Tue 17-Dec-24 15:27:25

Bridie you need to start a new thread in the News & politics section, this one is about child abuse.

Allira Tue 17-Dec-24 15:32:17

There are lots of News and Politics threads, not just this one.

Here's the list, you could join in one about WASPI women or start your own.

They have named him, petal53
but not the woman to protect the child's anonymity.

Police think Ferdous Ahmad could have abused other children too.
The sentences are again far too lenient.

Because i found it very sad that the OP could not post without starting with a passive aggressive comment. It is such a sad dreadful story, so why start with a comment like that? I despair, I really do!

I can understand why the OP started her post like she did.

Whenever anyone quotes an article which appears in the Daily Mail posters ridicule the newspaper and those that read it.

love0c Tue 17-Dec-24 15:59:22

I do not understand . Why start a very sad and serious post with ridicule? Hence, my first post. And I stand by it! People need to stop this!

That’s in the hands of those who ridicule newspapers which have different views/opinions to that of their own, and go on to insult the readers of said newspapers.

Bridie22 Tue 17-Dec-24 17:19:57

Thanks Allira, the penny has finally dropped! The old brain cells aren't working today 🙂

valdavi Tue 17-Dec-24 17:31:54

In a particular job I did, last century, I was shocked at the significant numbers of 16 y o mainly boys, turning up needing to get a job as their families had chucked them out & left them to get on with it once their child benefit ceased on them leaving school.
Prior to that, I thought most families cared about their children for life, but that made me realise it's only when they're cute babies & children in some families. I know it's not as bad as prostituting your daughter, but it comes from the same place & it's legal.

petal53 Tue 17-Dec-24 17:32:17

I’m sorry I upset you love0c, but I was hesitant about quoting from the Daily Mail because posters who quote from that paper are often ridiculed and mocked, even told that it’s not a newspaper.

You’re right, this is a serious subject, probably rather lost today because of the publication of the judgement in the Sara Sharif case. But this case is yet another terrible case of abuse. To be honest, it’s beyond my understanding or comprehension. To sell her daughter for abuse is so utterly vile, and I thought it worth a thread despite the terrible case of Sara Sharif in the news again today.

Thank you GrannyGravy for understanding why I posted as I did.
It’s the fear someone will jump down your throat for quoting from that particular paper.

Grunty Tue 17-Dec-24 17:35:41

Really love0c? Considering the sensitivity of the subject, your comment comes unsympathetic, dismissive and diminishing. Not nice.

I was getting out some Christmas stuff today and found some photos of my children when they were pre-school age. My heart overflowed - it really did. Such wondrous times and the absolute unbridled joy at the miracle of bringing a new life into the world.

Haven't we all (well, most of us I'm sure) wished it was us not them when they got hurt, (physically or mentally) itched from chicken pox, broke a limb, fell against the edge of the coffee table, screamed with earache...?

It's totally beyond my comprehension how anyone can torture any child, let alone their own. Or sell them for sex or some kind of slavery.

The judge's summing up today in Sara's case was so wise and poignant. I hope they never get out.
