The world’s most successful business man wants to support Reform. The Tories and Labour will be bricking it.

ronib Thu 19-Dec-24 11:02:42

But David49 100 seats for Reform under a pr system is still nowhere near enough to be in power. I don’t understand the hysteria.

The left leaning GNs, on the whole, are no less tolerant than anyone else on here.

I think that remark about being “tolerant” to others has been taken out of context.

I truly believe we should all be tolerant of others unless their views, beliefs and actions are illegal or very extreme.

I do not wish to see Musk involved with our country, Parliament or politics. If Reform wish to ally themselves with him, that’s their choice. I’m not, nor will ever be, a Reform supporter.

I guess it might make them more influential.

ronib Thu 19-Dec-24 11:20:03

Cossy I think Labour benefits from Reform splitting the Conservative vote. So Labour will go through to win in 2029 by default and not by merit. Tough on the voters but….

Allira Thu 19-Dec-24 11:23:40

An artists impression of Trump. New style old boy network

You have to be kidding me 😂😂😂

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Dec-24 11:31:48

Yup, for real, I think it's a younger air brushed portrait of Trump. Who else, at mar -o -laga

Galaxy Thu 19-Dec-24 11:35:49

Well murder and paedophilia are illegal if that is any help.
Tolerating different political views is slightly different. I dont really know what else to say.

RosiesMaw2 Thu 19-Dec-24 12:09:53

Going back to OP

Sheer provocation from FGT2- how very unpleasant
I don't agree that starting a thread which stimulates discussion- and, given the context, is likely to prove controversial, necessarily equates to
sheer provocation or very unpleasant.
Disagree by all means with OP but there is no need to get nasty.

MaizieD Thu 19-Dec-24 12:39:50

Good God. I was questioning Galaxy's philosophy of 'tolerance'. Not particularly in relation to Gnet or pointing at any posters. I was wondering how far she took her tolerance of different thinking. I assume she doesn't apply it specifically to Gnet and in no other circumstances.

That was at the last election, how many Labour voters would now vote for them.

Having Musk on board will massively get the young vote I feel.

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Dec-24 13:01:42

Interesting, why do you think he will get the young vote onto Reform? They are more media savvy about media manipulation and how it works? What is it about Musk's politics that attracts the young?

My GC love everything about what he does, Tesla the whole spaceX thing. I bet most hang off his every word.

Casdon Thu 19-Dec-24 13:13:57

Mine don’t. They have left X, which is losing users at a dramatic rate.

However it’s not our own children and grandchildren who determine the influence of social media platforms, it’s the millions, not the single figures that matter.

Admittedly I've not read all this thread- however apparently Musky predicted, around the time of the southport riots, that there would be a civil war in the UK. Personally I think he should look closer to home before he comments....
However I have been shocked by the support of Reform on GN - but now understand how Brexit happened and Boris got elected. I wonder if there is a connection?

Look at how Tesla are developing a mobile phone that will rival Apple iPhones but instead of using mobile networks it is allegedly will use starlink Musks own satellite internet so no mobile blackspots.

The above will be a game changer that most young people will want. Musk is using his money to create things that people want so his reach will be vast

I think Labour in the things they are saying have realised this, it will be interesting to see what they can do about it.

Musk is already deep in civil problems as he attempts to stop paying some federal wages (he's coming up against the Senate) and he is already targeting government workers by name as he recommends mass firings www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/elon-musk-mass-firing-department-of-government-efficiency-b2653471.html

I think matters close to home will catch up with him soon and furthermore, it will give us in the UK a chance to see what Reform might come up with following Trump/Musk policies.

There are bound to be some Reform supporters on GN, statistically alone

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Dec-24 13:41:21

It will be a bizarre day when people elect politicians in on the basis of the latest gadgets available.

Surely our young people can see further than that.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 19-Dec-24 13:44:04

imaround, thank you. Please keep posting.
I fear Mr Musk sees himself as omnipotent and all - knowing ( a bit like God, only with more money) so just needs everyone to do as he says. ...or else.
I find him very alarming and am surprised that others do not.

Like I say above only time will tell..

These are the same young that have elevated Andrew Tate to great heights.

I follow musk a bit since I drive a Tesla so keep a track of goings on. He has employed some of the greatest software engineers about so I am sure data mining will be child's play

Talking to GC and many young people here and around Europe in the Tesla I can say the kids have an appreciation of him that can't be underestimated.

Delila Thu 19-Dec-24 14:00:36

I think Musk has Trump & Farage in the palm of his hand - useful idiots.

It’s not a question of being “In Power” a small extreme party holding the balance of power that’s the issue.
We see this in Israel and other countries in Europe minority parties having far more power than they deserve.

Galaxy Thu 19-Dec-24 15:01:45

Is it an extreme party? It has some problematic people in it but so do other small parties. I vote labour but I don't underestimate reform particularly in my neck of the woods (red wall constituency).

imaround Thu 19-Dec-24 15:06:56

Why would I need to start my own post? I am being respectful and I am posting pertinent information regarding the OP.

What is happening in the US with Musk is real and it is coming to your shores. You all are in a unique position to be knowledgeable and stop it before it starts.

Galaxy Thu 19-Dec-24 15:07:43

Oh and to answer your question Maizie about what views I tolerate, I think most views should be expressed in a free society, because the alternative (suppression of views) is worse.
The fact that I am on another thread saying only fans should be banned may be a slight contradiction to this but I am not perfectsmile
