The world’s most successful business man wants to support Reform. The Tories and Labour will be bricking it.

I have come to the conclusion that some people have little or no self awareness.

Lol, you're the only one who read (or at least acknowledged) my ramble on elon.

~Thank you

Ok, well I just don't think anyone should be dying because they couldn't afford insulin (something that costs cents to make), just for an obscenely rich person to just become richer.

That's a very American problem.

Then you need to campaign for Americans to stop demonising the national health schemes normal in European countries as "socialist death lists" and to start instead looking at the aims and policies of those schemes. No-one dies because they can't afford insulin in Europe, or because a hospiatal rejects them because they have no health insurance or their skin is the wrong colour. These national initiatives are not just a last-ditch attempt to treat the very poor, either, they are for the whole community, who are the biggest resource the country has.

I'm not at all sure why you think I need to take instruction from you, or why you expect America, a so far democratic country, to take instruction from me.

Perhaps I should be flattered that you think I have that power but as an average British citizen I simply don't. Neither, I would guess, do you.

I think you missed my (instant) follow-up post at 12:47:48 yesterday to the one you quote, where I clarified it by saying "To Dropped-Out, not to PoliticsNerd"

Are there rules or an etiquette for chatting, or do we tolerate those who are unconventional about what chatting is

Elegran Fri 27-Dec-24 14:21:14

There are "Guidelines" but how they are applied varies according to whether a post has been reported or ignored by other posters, and who is monitoring those reports. As a general rule, it takes at least one report about a post to bring it to the attention of GNHQ, and they may or may not take action after they have inspected it.

You can report anything which breaks guidelines, but it is MN/GN who decide the guidelines.

Yes DroppedOut, I remember that incident. After calling the hero a pedophile, Musk quickly backtracked, saying it didn't mean that in his native country, and that everyone calling him out, mis-understood him. I have seen nothing since then to admire.
Apparently the possible spat with Greenland is because Musk needs the rare minerals to found there.

So much for the champion of free speech and doing the right thing for America.

After several people, both MAGA and Democrats, pushed back on X after Musk and Ramaswamy said they need to import tech workers over hiring Americans, he has removed their check marks, removed their subscribers, and in some cases given them suspensions on X. Because they pushed back and said that America First means hiring American workers over immigrants.

There were over 141,000 tech workers laid off in the US in 2024. They are struggling to find jobs in the tech sector.

Musk wants to import H1B workers because they work longer hours and less pay than American workers do. He says it is because of their culture that they need to be prioritized over US workers, who he called mediocre at first, then later used the slur for differently abled people.

I hope that MAGA turns on him and Trump divests him from power before Jan 20th.

Maremia: I wondered about the Greenland threat. But it makes sense since he has already threatened Canada, Mexico, the UK and now Panama.

I know the government in Panama is seizing Trump hotels for tax evasion, so I thought that was it. Along with the resources in Greenland and Canada. But now I wonder if this is bigger then that.

Musk may be pushing for the valuable minerals, but I think Trump has his eyes on the effects on NATO if he controls from Greenland to the Panama canal. Especially since he holds Putin in such high regards.

Or maybe it is a different reason all together. It is not normal to destabilize the relationships of our closest allies though.

It's expensive for UK firms to pay the tariffs through the Panama Canal as well. Trump is sabre/rattling.
