Good. I should think so too - no matter what his duplicitous solicitor tried to tell us on a televised appearance!
Sentencing mid January.

I would have trial after trial until the jury had watched every moment of the violence of those men and had been told by the judge that they cannot go against evidence because they don’t like the police or they share the same religion or culture of those thugs.Otherwise they will be in contempt of court.

The defence solicitor is the same solicitor that is defending Nicola Sturgeon

But if useless information on a Friday night

How could these thugs who attacked the Police afford expensive representation??

No idea, but it was the jury who didn't convict. The people's decision. Sorry, but if you don't like the jury system, maybe you should vote for a party which wants to get rid of it. Unfortunately, juries are an integral part of democracy.

When out of four officers you are the last one standing any action necessary to control the situation including kicking the violent ones in the head is to me acceptable.

Were you a fly on the wall in the jury room? You have no idea why the jury decided as it did and a judge certainly never has the right to make up the jury's mind for it.

In that case you get what has just happened…that the jury decided it’s quite ok to attack police, even policewomen if you don’t agree with why they are attempting to arrest you.And any amount of violence against police is ok too.
The country has to throw the book at any violence against the police and some years ago that’s what would have happened.
You just didn’t get juries who agreed to turn a blind eye to that sort of charge, and it’s on film too.But now we do it’s time to allow judges to decide a case themselves, and magistrates for some offences.Either that or draw the juries from further away in the country geographically.

This, in the Manchester area will ensure Reform UK win that by election next month in Makerfield. I’d put money on it.

Don't forget that the jury almost certainly lived in Greater Manchester and are voters.

Apologies! It was Liverpool Crown Court, not Manchester.

The one who punched the policewomen was found guilty and is about to be sentenced.

Calm down and watch the relevant video.

Oreo Fri 29-May-26 22:10:31

But the other brother has got off scot free.

So?

He wasn't found guilty.

Oreo Fri 29-May-26 22:11:36

Calm down yourself.
I have watched it and both brothers were violent thugs.

twaddle Fri 29-May-26 22:11:50

Watch the relevant video.

It’s outrageous FGT2 but that’s what things have come to, another part of broken Britain.

I wondered that FGT.

What has Farage done now?
I read he was being investigated for interfering in some way.

Oreo Fri 29-May-26 22:19:52

I have one or two ideas Primrose 😉

There is a certain irony in a group of Gransnetters failing to reach a consensus on this, given the discussion is about two juries failing to reach a consensus on this.

Only if twaddle was a juror😄
I think most people would be very unhappy that one of these violent men has walked free with no charges.

twaddle Fri 29-May-26 22:32:45

If you watch the video, it's obvious that the younger brother (the one in blue) was the one who threw the most punches, including punching the two female police officers. He has been found guilty.

It is less clear what the older brother did. He was at a machine (a ticket machine?) and was approached by the police, who touched him. There had already been an altercation of some sort in Costa (?), which is why he was approached by the police. Tensions were high. The "evidence" does not show the older brother punching a police officer, which is why the jury (quite rightly) couldn't decide he was guilty.

Oreo Fri 29-May-26 22:32:47

Especially since it was caught on camera.

Oreo Fri 29-May-26 22:33:30

It does show it actually as I have seen it.

How dare you? I know the law. The evidence wan't clear that he was guilty.

It wasn't.

Anyway, it’s of no practical use to complain, it’s done now but is a sign of our times that juries don’t see much wrong in punching the police.
