Yvette Cooper gets minced

Did anybody else see the video of Yvette Cooper in a Morrisons store handing out mince pies today?

It was hilarious because a local female resident could not resist going over and telling her what she thought of her and the Labour party.

She has just been on GB News talking about how very disappointed she has been and that she has always been a Labour voter. She told YC exactly what she thought in a very restrained way. She also said Yvette was making out she was donating mince pies but Morrisons donated them. She also ignored a homeless man who always sits outside the supermarket and did not offer him one.

This smart shopper told her exactly what she thought about the way Waspi ladies have been treated, how they keep on about a massive black hole yet they are giving more than that away to foreign countries for climate research, illegal immigrants, Ukraine, etc etc. she ended by saying she should be handing out blankets to freezing pensioners not mince pies.

She was just a 52 year old Mum but she was great!
Good on her I say.

So very narrow minded brains never thinking beyond this small sinking island

Sinking does tend to focus the mind. 🤔

I think YC, like any seasoned MP is well used to meeting people who disagree with her politics just as she'll meet people who don't. At least she's out in her constituency talking to people.

MaizieD Tue 24-Dec-24 08:56:18

ronib.

Britain hasn't been self sufficient in food since the 19th century. At which time the population was tiny in comparison with today. Why do you think our navy spent much time guarding convoys of food imports in WW2? And this was despite the fact that farms were producing as intensively as they knew how and huge numbers of the population were 'digging for victory. But we still had rationing and apparently nobody saw a banana for years..
A moment or two of reflection might bring to your mind a list of common foods which can't be grown in meaningful quantities in the UK. Like... 🍌 😒

Monica so we are dependent on the rest of the world for food? I thought British farmers were capable of producing food here well at least until Labour won power.
You do realise that the Uk is responsible for only a tiny fraction of global warming? We’re impoverishing ourselves and for what?
The Uk needs to adjust. Its days of Rule Britannia are well over.

WE produce, some of our food, but not all. That has been the case since the mid19th century.

It matters not whether we produce a tiny fraction of global warming or all of it, in fact our proportion of it is falling fast because of all we are doing to reduce it, someone has to lead the world in the efforts to reduce climate change.

In the past Brtain used to be proud to be a world leader in any field of reseaarch and endeavour. I see no reason why we need to relegate ourselves to the position of also-rans in everything, just because our power has diminished.

Just a couple of facts:

Yvette Cooper has given out mince pies in her constituency for the past 20 twenty years.

The woman who confronted her is a well known supporter of Reform UK PLC, who has recently been sending Ms Cooper a series of ‘unpleasant’ emails.

Anyway, Happy Christmas Primrose - peace to you and yours!

And where is your proof of this? She was on TV last night and was a very ordinary Mum who says she has always voted Labour. No mention of supporting Reform or sending nasty emails were mentioned.

She is like me, not much of a techie, so she didn’t even realise her phone was recording after she had taken a photo, hence why the heads were cut off.

She does remind me of Brenda from Bristol in the way she was not afraid to have her say. Nothing wrong with that!

MaizieD Tue 24-Dec-24 09:01:35

Oh, I'm sorry, lizziedripping, I had missed your post about Yvette Cooper handing out mince pies for 20 years. It seemed like a really odd thing to start doing...

So what? This woman has every right to email Cooper expressing her views, and you have no idea what details were in her ‘unpleasant’ emails. As for being a Reform supporter nothing wrong with that.

Completely agree with Primrose on this.

I won’t believe claims made against this woman until we see evidence and even then, it’s her choice who she now supports.

Oh, well said, MOnica. 😃👏👏👏

What an awful thread! So we should ignore wars in Europe, climate change and the misery of illegal immigrants! Let's just think of our little island and ignore the rest of the world and our collective future!

I agree.

The misery of the illegal migrants? Most have roofs over their heads- they are sorted as soon as they land.
The ones housed in the hotels near here have their windows wide opened as the rooms are too hot. They have nice padded jackets, phones, some have fancy headphones, they look well fed.
They look well looked after around here.

I would have liked to see KS handing out mince pies & maybe blankets ha- now that would have made good viewing!

However, you’re quite willing to start a spiteful thread only reported on very selected media about a politician who has freely given her time to meet her constituents face to face and willingly take the brickbats. How sad.

ronib Tue 24-Dec-24 09:16:41

China certainly isn’t going to stop polluting our planet just because the Uk is showing the way. We rely on China for our manufacturing so maybe that needs to stop. The hypocrisy is staggering.

My fingers are itching to reply with one way the UK is sinking but it is the festive season. Let's be nice.

Since she does it every year and has for 20 years (which the O/P failed to mention) and the woman who came in was clearly up for a media stunt - straight to GB news of course (wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't planned) -

I think spiteful is exactly the right word

Why couldn't YC be actually allowed to meet constituents without this one person spoiling it with her stunt?
Disgusted. Sh completely ruined what was a regular and positive occasion.

And no, I wouldn't approve of it against a politician I disagree with. time of year, appropriate time and place.

The Daily Mail has suggested that the voter is a "very active" Reform UK supporter who has previously barraged the Home Secretary with abusive emails

Nannato2 so nothing. I don’t care who this woman supports - I was simply relaying what has been reported.

Merry Christmas🎄

How did this "ordinary mum" find her accidentally filmed footage on tv?

Handing out mince pies in a supermarket seems like a very odd thing for any MP to do.

I thought that too.
Especially since it is reported that Morrisons supplied the mince pies.

That made me laugh too🤭

Most politicians do these sort of stunts, in this case handing out mince pies to the great unwashed. Are we supposed to be grateful?
I think they would be better off sticking to their political surgeries and simply doing their jobs by putting things right for their constituents. And yes if they’re doing something like standing around in a supermarket the public have a right to have their say, but it should be done without any aggression.

petal53 Tue 24-Dec-24 10:20:39

How does anybody know what kind of emails were sent by this lady to YC, or indeed even if any emails were sent at all?
How anyone on GN can possibly claim that this lady has sent emails, or unpleasant emails, to YC is simply unsubstantiated gossip.
I don’t believe any politician would discuss the emails they’ve received (if they even know about them) with members of GN or any member of the public.

petal53 Tue 24-Dec-24 10:22:39

only reported on very selected media

It was reported on ITV main news last night!

Oreo Tue 24-Dec-24 10:23:00

I agree Petal53 it would be very unprofessional to do that.

Thank you Lizziedrip.

"The Daily Mail has suggested that the voter is a "very active" Reform UK supporter who has previously barraged the Home Secretary with abusive emails "

This whole thing has "pre planned media stunt" behind it.
