Trump in fighting mood

President elect Trump was in fighting mood yesterday with his promise that 'all hell will break loose' should Hamas not return the remaining hostages before his inauguration.
He also wants to take by force if necessary, Greenland and the Panama Canal.
Oh and the little matter of changing the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Strap in everyone, we're in for a bumpy ride.

Trumps "fighting mood" is just Trump the Man Baby having one of his routine brattish tantrums, and I should imagine Musk is right in the firing line.

I hope.

Trumps extreme way of setting policy aims doesn’t bother me, because it won’t happen, he’s no more going to take over Canada than move the White House to the moon.

It’s his way of negotiating, other leaders know that, he didn’t start a war or do any thing extreme last time he was president, this time he aims to end 2 wars.

David49 I admire your confidence. Trump going into this presidency is very different to the Trump who went into the Presidency last time. He is less rational, and far more willing to disregard all accepted norms the get what he wants.

We may manage to come out of the next four years safely, but I wouldn't want to bet on it.

I am curious to know how Trump negotiates with Putin over Ukraine as we all know that Trump is going to stop the war. So war should be over very soon?

“Accepted norms” yes he threatens to break them but others blatantly break them China, Russia, Israel and others. In Trumps position I would talk tough too we will see what his actions are soon enough.

The man is crazy.

What exactly is Trump's 'position' that he needs to talk tough about?

Is the US seriously threatened in any way?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jan-25 13:00:52

I imagine that POTUS Trump’s ego has been sorely dented by unguarded and deliberate slurs aimed at him by politicians and media worldwide since his last tenure of the Whitehouse.

His response is to come out fighting

I doubt very much if all, or even any of his threats will be carried through

knspol Thu 09-Jan-25 13:07:23

Trump and Musk in partnership does not bear thinking about. Hopefully Musk will turn his back on Trump at the first disagreement and the bromance will be over and then just one
fantasist in charge of what is probably the most influential nation in the world.

GrauntyHelen Thu 09-Jan-25 13:19:02

He really needs a nice quilted jacket that buckles up the back !

I hope so, certainly agree it's true to an extent. the politics of far leaves a lot to be desired. And yes, the sooner the bromance breaks up the better, what will Musk do with himself then.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jan-25 13:41:23

Wyllow3 hopefully Elon Musk will concentrate on his electric vehicles, space programs and satellites.

All of which could be beneficial to mankind…

Meanwhile, Trump is blaming Newsom (governor of California) for the terrible wildfires. Unbelievable. (short video)

Trump is a narcissist. They like to appear omnipotent. He's high on power and speaking like a dictator. He and Musk are a very unpleasant duo!

Wyllow3 Thu 09-Jan-25 13:47:21

Perhaps Musk could turn his mind to producing clean energy as well as just electric vehicles.

Apparently there has been $millions reallocated to the homeless of LA which would (could?) have gone to the Fire Department. Less Fire Department personnel.

This is being given as the reason for some fire hydrants to be empty (not sure how the US system works) and fire crews have been using swimming pools as a source for water.

The above was discussed on ITV breakfast news this morning.

suelld Thu 09-Jan-25 14:01:12

WHY oh WHY are the Trump voters unable to see what kind of a corrupt, immoral, and quite frankly ill-educated eejit he is? Power and money rule the US ( and most other places) and political expediency are reasons for the brighter Trump voters to support him… but I will never understand how the people voting for him cannot see that he LIES and twists the truth every time he opens that horrible pouty little mouth.
Most of the voters appear to have believed he will lower grocery prices and will rid the US of the darker coloured immigrants ( he, and they, seem not to be worried by the lighter skinned immigrants)…. Well they got what they wished for … now wait and see….!

As far as I understand it this is the same s* throwing that Trump did over the last hurricane disaster.
The monies were not diverted but completely seperate funds.
The water for the fire hydrants is apparently stored is massive water tanks but this particular urban fire with the added Santa Ana winds just grew too fast and furious that these water tanks were emptied and not able to be replenished quickly enough.
It does sound an odd system, and definitely needs looking at, but in this case it basically grew out of hand so quickly that all the usual fire fighting tools were overridden. The water filled fire fighting planes couldn’t fly because off the ferocious winds, and it became ‘ a perfect storm’.

Unpleasant is an understatement …Downright corrupt and NASTY! To use a favourite Trump word. Have you noticed how anyone who disagrees with him ot dares to oppose him is called ‘NASTY’ .

Wyllow3 Thu 09-Jan-25 14:25:31

It certainly appear clear that even had the hydrants been full, it was so overwhelming that it would have made little difference. But what it does show is that in a situation where choices have to be made between huge scale homelessness and fire protection, the decisions to cut hugely on budgets is going to make the most vulnerable more so.

Oldbat1 Thu 09-Jan-25 14:26:42

Trump or Putin is there a difference?? They are both mad and extremely dangerous.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jan-25 14:30:25

suelld please do not shoot the messenger (me) I only posted something which was discussed on the news this morning.

Lots of interesting posts, but can no-one tell me what are the threats to Trump that make it necessary for him to 'talk tough'?

Perhaps David can, as if he were in Trump's position (i.e about to become one of the most powerful people in the world) he'd talk tough too?

rocketship Thu 09-Jan-25 14:55:47

As a Canadian I can tell you that we have been extremely offended by the USA president elect's words!

He is another Putin and Hitler with his expansionist rhetoric.

Unfortunately, many USAers are ignorant of anything outside their country. Over the many years they have been sold a bill of false goods... that they are the greatest, smartest, most wonderful country in the world. They only excel in two areas...one of the largest military machines and the largest number of people in their prisons.
You can check the statistics on their poor level of healthcare, education, etc. etc. compared to other western countries.

The crazy billionaire Musk is pulling the strings, I think planning to take over all the western countries in the long run. He's already been interferring by commenting on the politics of other countries including the UK.

Buckle up!! The USA is going to hell in a handcart~~ We can only hope he doesn't take the rest of us along with him!!
