Today it’s Memorial Day for MLK in the US overshadowed by the TRUMP Inauguration … wonder what he would think of US politics …

Barron doesn’t look all there to me. 🤔

Barron looks a bit awkward but given he was probably the tallest person in the room, he could have anxiety… a friend’s daughter is over 6ft and she is painfully shy in public and actually says she wishes she wasn’t so tall…

Yes, I had a friend who was 6'8" and he always looked uncomfortable.

My DGN is just about 6' and she seems happy with it, full of confidence.

Claremont, you need to be fair. To think that in such a short time the CBI and Bank of England have expressed concern about Rachel's budget is incredible! Her budget is not for growth. She's been told by folk who know far more about this than most.

We know that the western world has had a lot to cope with. Covid. Ukraine.

At the start of this year we were at the top of the G7 in recovery. Now we're bottom.

And just one reminder. I worked in the NHS during Tony Blair years. He was pushing for privatisation and utilising private healthcare for many procedures. The 4 hour wait in A&E was a sham . After 4 hours we just moved patients elsewhere. And did you ever read the brilliant book, This Is Going To Hurt, by Dr. Adam Kay? Turned into a tv series. About the horrors of life as a junior doctor. The hours they worked. The suicide of one of his colleagues. About the hell that existed then as well as now. He resigned eventually. Who was in charge? Labour. So please, no fantasies or rewriting of history.

Back to our government now. Abysmal. And the horrendous juvenile tweets that our present government/mayor of London tweeted about Trump? Appalling.

. I really don't think the Trump family like each other, Baron seems very stressed to put it mildly. The whole thing was chaotic and full of gaffs. However Trumps supporters love him.
Trump saying God saved him so he could save America was met with applause.

Trump is doing what he feels is best for America.
It’s now up to Starmer and Lammy to do their best for us.

Oh I see- bow and take the knee- become vassals of the USA- and all in the name of Sovereignty- like 'your' famous Brexit- blackmailed by Trump.

Don't forget Keir And Rachel have continued to trash the UK economy, Claremont We can't pick and choose according to our preferred party.

Well anyone who denies that they inherited an impossible situation- a trashed economy, and trashed public services, NHS, education, social services, transport and all utilities, etc, and a very weak pound and massive debt repayment. They have had a few months- Tories destroy the lot in 14 years. So at least be fair here!

We shall all have to wait and see won’t we? Trump has been planning for a long time. He’s good to go.

Good to go for what - colonisation by force- destroying the UKs economy, and EU, further destroying any hope of countering climate change, attacks on essential foreign workers.

Will you be happy when he applies huge import tarifs on any UK exports- further destroying the UK economy already trashed by Truss and Brexit. Will you, really?

Oops ! Trump forgot to put his hand on the bible ! Melania was late to the podium . Chaos has only just begun !

Why does the world and his wife have to be so close to the action?

Bringing on the VP’s children, Mrs Vance had to pick up the thumb sucking daughter, bet she was heavy as she soon put her back down so she could gaze adoringly at her DH as he was sworn in.

Donald was half way through his oath before Melania could get near him with the Bible, there were so many family members pushing to get to the front.

Not necessary, it looked a real scrum,

A male commentator mused on whether this could be the foundation of a dynasty - first Donald Snr, then Donald Jnr then Barron.
I certainly hope that does not happen but did comment "What about Ivanka? Are Americans so against having a woman President that they cannot entertain the thought?".

But not yet. Push back will of course come in 2026.
But for now? It’s Trump’s first 100 days and it’ll be stellar!

Somebody’s not thinking straight . Things do not happen that quickly . Trump has already backed down on bringing the price of eggs ( groceries ) down !

Galaxy Mon 20-Jan-25 19:51:18

Calling me names doesnt work Syracute. Instead of diving deeper into the identity politics which failed them the Democrats might be better looking at why they lost to a man such as Trump. There is no sign of that happening at the moment.

Sea of white = and on they go with their divisive identity politics - its working brilliantly in terms of winning elections I must say.

My point was, in case you did not understand , was there were hardly any people of color !
If you see nothing wrong with that then you really are from a different era . I will remind you Trump won but just with a 1.5 percent advantage . He will get push back .

A real scrum ..I don’t think so.. have you been to many rugby games?

Syracute Mon 20-Jan-25 19:23:30

So did anybody see Trump addressing some of his followers off the cuff where he went on a deranged talk about how much her feet ached and she was not going to be able to stand much longer ( poor dear ! ) Completely Wacko !! Also to note : former VP ‘s Pence wife was also not in attendance . His off the teleprompter talk was very unhinged … no surprise there !!!
