I found this very disturbing, especially the look on his face with the first one.

Well if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck……..
I think we all know what we have seen here.

From the article Wyllow3 posted:

"On top of that, Musk also recently signaled further support for the far-right when he changed his X username to “Kekius Maximus” and updated his profile to an edited picture of “Pepe the Frog,” a meme that had been co-opted by the alt-right and white supremacists in online spaces such as 4chan. And just a week ago, Musk — who has relentlessly promoted imprisoned far-right extremist Tommy Robinson while injecting himself into British politics — criticized the prison sentencing of a neo-Nazi who helped incited riots in the UK."

When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

Elon Musk is on X as

ElonMusk@elonmusk

I have just checked on X

Oops no picture of a frog either.

I assume he changes his profile when the mood takes him.

Oh dear. I'm finding it hard to believe that anyone would say this was a Nazi salute.

He is indeed, a very unusual character. But please, don't be so predictable. The left do open themselves up to ridicule.

If you can deny Musks support of the AfD, and Austrias Freedom Party, then I think your post can be taken seriously, but until then, people will be sensible to distrust Musk and his actions.

I tend to give credit to reports on mainstream media, rather than a personal opinion from somebody who clearly didn’t watch the immediate reactions of the news anchors in USA Louella12. The world knows what he meant.

You need to believe it- it was deliberate and repeated more than once.

An 'unusual character' well, so are many people. If someone walked down your street doing this would you think they were unusual?

Why is recognising this for what it is predictable?

Why does recognising this make you from the left, and therefore ridiculous?

Please don't defend the indefencible.

I agree. He knew exactly what he was doing. Anyone who has been on Twitter (X) for any length of time will have seen his tweets and know.

I sort of agree Dickens, but it was bizarre.
I think he is not neurotypical, but obviously am diagnosing a stranger on the internet which is not acceptable!

He makes no secret of the fact that he’s on the spectrum and has, in the past, discussed his Asperger’s. It’s therefore likely that some of his social actions/reactions are going to appear ‘bizarre’, to put it mildly!

He supports the AfD a Nazi political party.

So the salute is neither surprising nor innocent.

Musk could be very dangerous if he isn’t reigned in.

Sadly I agree. The richest man on the planet linked up to the POTUS, is dangerous on its own, but when the POTUS is Trump, scary beyond belief!

A visual aid for anyone who is prone to making unwise hand gestures.

foxie48 Tue 21-Jan-25 09:08:44

I've been listening to the rest is history series on Hitler, so many parallels with politics in the US. It's very worrying and Musk's support of far right parties in Europe is only part of it.

That visual aid isn't totally correct. I'm a Londoner, and we hail taxis with our arms raised both high and horizontally.

Some google images of people hailing taxis. Sorry Parsley3 that image is just silly.

Musk's salute however is not, that's very concerning.

And who calls a waiter with their arm aloft?
How rude.

You just put your hand up slightly and try to catch their eye with an expectant look on your face!

Now, are we to believe that Musk was
a) a bit peckish and wanted to order a hamburger
b) thirsty ' watercplease
or
c) had had enough and was hailing a taxi

No. It looked more like his version of Hail to the Chief.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 21-Jan-25 10:30:38

It was a Roman salute

And Musk needs to brush up on world history: America planted the flag on the moon in 1969, and is that not a planet?
Tough Musky, Neil Armstrong beat you to it.

No, the moon is a moon not a planet.
A moon is a satellite of a planet.

Saluto Romano

Wasn't that adopted by the Fascists in Italy then Germany (each slightly modified?).

And during the French Revolution. I think there are some famous French Neo Classical paintings where they all raise their arms when oaths are signed.

You'd find it hard to believe would you, really? For a start, he's a well known supporter of far right extremist parties in Germany and Austria. Ring any bells?

As for the left opening themselves up to ridicule! His "gesture" has been universally noted and condemned by left, right and centre from all over the world. It has nothing to do the left. I assume you're a Tory in which case I doubt very much that your party would endorse in any way Elon Musk's salute. I'm afraid you're on your own with this one Louella.

25Avalon Tue 21-Jan-25 10:49:30

Now he is aware of the concerns raised by this salute why doesn’t he explain it wasn’t a nazi salute, apologise, and confirm he won’t continue doing it ?

Perhaps it's because it was a Nazi salute and he has every intention of continuing to do it?

I don't think the richest man in the US feels any need to explain or apologise to anyone... 🙄
