I don't think that many people who have lived through this trauma care what you think about the knife barlyfields.
They would doubtless wish that he hadn’t obtained it.
From the BBC website
The court heard today that he said he was "so glad... so happy" the children were dead
Rudakubana repeatedly shouted in court that he is ill, and his lawyer tells the court that Rudakubana hasn't eaten or drunk for some time
On Monday, he also admitted producing ricin, possessing terrorist material, and possessing a knife
.
Frankly I don’t give much for his chances in prison - is that wrong of me?
And if he hasn’t eaten or drunk “for some time “ he may be doing us all a favour 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Unusual on GN from an established poster I think Allira. And unpleasant.
Well, as you are a new poster I'm puzzled as to how you know what is unusual and what is not.
Two that to my daughter in law. Who witnessed this. Tell that to the children's grandparents. Friends if my grandchildren. Tell that to friends and neighbours of my children.

Oh stop stirring.
And less of the “brown face” nonsense if you don’t mind.
It’s insulting to be honest.
The only way to stop this is to bring in the death penalty for people who use a knife to kill someone.
It is now so commonplace that drastic action must be taken.
Primrose 53 Totally agree, something has to change in this country and fast, we cannot go on like this. We've become a wishy washy nation, too soft bellied and it will happen over and over again if nothing is done.
I hate to say it, but there are a number of people here who seem to condone prisoner on prisoner attacks. All violent acts are wrong whether in prison or in the outside world, and the perpetrators should be punished. Lynch mobs or the equivalent are not the answer.
No i agree it absolutely isnt but to be honest at the same time I think that backlash is completely understandable, I am not sure how much pressure you can put on people before it explodes.
The knife doesn't matter. He bought it on Amazon.

Something funny going on, I think a number of posters have changed their names and one poster is posting under two names!
Are the parents of Rudakubana being investigated now?
Surely they too were complicit as they knew he was ordering knives and other items such as the seeds to make ricin.
They cannot have been so stupid that they did not know. His mother signed for one of the knives when it was delivered, so it was reported.

We have to agree to disagree then Barleyfields. A knife is a knife.
Every single Southport hostage in jail throughout the country for posting hurty words should be released and pardoned immediately and recieve a public apology from the Prime Minister, in my opinion.
Allira, this is what I thought was not usual for a GN poster. I have lurked long enough before posting to know that this is an established poster.
And Sago, whoever you think might be posting under two names it isn’t me.

I hope they will be investigated. It seems very unlikely that they were unaware of their son’s interest in violence.

Why?
The family of the Southport attacker have been moved to a "secret location" by police for their own protection, leaders at the church his father attended say.

Church? Christians?

Probably they are in a secret location in order to avoid the possibility of more riots.
I really hope they are being investigated because they cannot have been unaware.
I think it was said at one point that they are Christians because people assumed the killer was a Moslem.
The parents probably got the response that authorities could do nothing unless he had actually committed an offence. That’s the usual response, sadly. It needs to change. I hope this evil young man is put into a secure mental health unit, he shouldn’t be allowed to be in a normal prison community. I would guess he won’t survive much longer anyway.

I knew they were Christian. It was the contrast between their behaviour and the Bishop of Washington.
What I meant by the ? was is that how Christians would behave? Knowing your child collected dangerous knives, seeing the knives just lying around in the house, knowing he was having parcels of seeds delivered to neighbours then saying parcels would be delivered to their own house in future?
Not how any decent parent would behave, Christian or not.
It’s not my idea of the behaviour of any decent parent, of any faith or none. Doubtless we will hear a lot more when the inquiry takes place, if not before. I can’t help feeling that from what I have heard, and I don’t know what the real truth is, they share his guilt and I would hope they recognise their part in this tragedy.
We need to bring back the mental institutions. Care in the Community hasn't been the complete answer.
This boy and the one who murdered the 2 young students and the caretaker in Nottingham were well known to the authorities' for their extreme and concerning behaviours but everyone passed the buck and in the end nobody does anything. Keep people like this locked away 24/7 in a secure unit under medication because they should not have the opportunity to walk out streets.

Did Starmer make the decision, or was it the CPS advising police on the need to avoid any possibility of risking the trial?
Starmer acted in a timely fashion by using the Courts. Community tensions were inflamed by, it seems, deliberate misinformation saying the murder arrived on a small boat. This fed into the anti asylum seeker rage and frustration. Being cross doesn’t give anyone the right to set fire to buildings with people in them, to attack police officers and riot.
That behaviour is down to the rioters, no one else is responsible.
CPS, official statement by DPP, 22nd Jan, not he subject of releasing information.
www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/dpps-response-questions-around-release-information-relating-trial-axel-rudakubana
"Stephen Parkinson, Director of Public Prosecutions said: "Questions have been raised as to why certain information about the Southport case could not be made public earlier. The position taken by the police and the Government on disclosure of information reflected the advice given by the CPS, which was accepted by them. It is important that it is understood why our advice needed to be given.
"In short, releasing that information earlier would have put the trial at risk. As has now become apparent, until Axel Rudakubana pleaded guilty on Monday to all offences with which he was charged, the CPS had been preparing for a full trial. No defence had been served, and so there was the potential that all evidence would be challenged.
"Public reporting of significant information before the conclusion of the trial, including about the actions of the Axel Rudakubana on the day and some elements of his past history would have posed a serious risk to the integrity of the trial and risked undermining justice for the victims and their families.
Delivering justice for the victims and their families was and remains our absolute priority and we could not and would not have been prepared to agree to anything to put that at risk."

This really is absolutely unbelievable. "hurty words"
How can posts like this be permitted?
Absolutely shocked to read FGT referring to the rioters who broke the law as the Southport hostages.
Genuinely disgusting!
I’m not reporting the post because other posters should be able to read what FGT thinks!
