Good grief. His mother is complicit in these appalling killings if that’s what happened.
I'v read a lot and can't find anywhere that his mother knew he was going to commit murder, I think we have to be careful about sources.
From the BBC website
The court heard today that he said he was "so glad... so happy" the children were dead
Rudakubana repeatedly shouted in court that he is ill, and his lawyer tells the court that Rudakubana hasn't eaten or drunk for some time
On Monday, he also admitted producing ricin, possessing terrorist material, and possessing a knife
.
Frankly I don’t give much for his chances in prison - is that wrong of me?
And if he hasn’t eaten or drunk “for some time “ he may be doing us all a favour 🤬🤬🤬🤬

The knife really is irrelevant. He could have used a kitchen carving knife. He was intent on killing so he’d have found a way. He took a taxi to the venue. 15 minutes drive. The taxi driver said he didn’t speak, then got out of the cab and refused to pay. A small argument ensued. A passer by remonstrated with him saying “pay the taxi driver”. He just said “what you gonna do hey?” And walked off.
It was heartbreaking just to read some of the reported summaries. A few of the families, understandably, asked that not all details be reported. Their pain is unimaginable.
Not in school, poor and uncordinated response from the authorites. Concerns not being taken seriously.
Ring any bells?
Oh my good grief! What that madman did to those children is beyond belief. Their poor parents and the trauma to the ones that survived. I have no words.
He sounds like a seriously disturbed individual who was on the radar long before this attack. The parents had called the police and sought help when their son’s violent/bad behaviour escalated as any parent would but nothing was done.
Angry young men who carry knives and behave erratically should be dealt with swiftly by the authorities. My take on this is that he should have been sectioned long before this tragic attack but am not sure if you can section someone under 18, if not the law on this needs to be changed so that this won’t happen again.
He should have been locked up in a very secure unit. Special schools can’t cope with nutters like this and nor should they. You couldn’t reintegrate him into mainstream schools. Clearly the parents had concerns and did report him but there was no joined up thinking. He was left to fester in that home. If it wasn’t a knife from Amazon, it would have been one from home or elsewhere.

The knife is very relevant because no matter what he might have used, that is what he did use. We shall in due course find out how it came to be in his possession.
We have to agree to disagree then Barleyfields. A knife is a knife.
Every single Southport hostage in jail throughout the country for posting hurty words should be released and pardoned immediately and recieve a public apology from the Prime Minister, in my opinion.
The photos on the bbc website show the chaos and living conditions in their house. Easy enough to hide knives in that environment.
The whole knife debate is rather distracting . Had it been one of those awful zombie knives then yes, it would have been relevant but it wasn't. A kitchen knife can kill. We can't ban kitchen knives.

I can’t believe I read that. You not only support Trump, you sound exactly like him.
That really mirrors Trump who pardoned insurrectionists because they supported him.
The people in prison aren’t hostages, they’re people convicted of serious offences.
The last thing our country needs is ridiculous suggestions abiut releasing rioters and demands our PM should apologise - what for ?

It’s not distracting. Of course he could have used another knife. He could have used his stock of ricin (and killed many more people). The fact is that he used a knife which he had obtained. How he obtained it remains to be explained.
For not releasing information in a timely fashion that could well have de-escalated community tensions.
Again, we best agree to disagree or we just go round in circles.
Well said Iam. I am concerned that a GN poster is adopting Trump’s way of thinking. It is disturbing.

As half of the USA population has adopted Trump's way of thinking it's not that unusual, surely?
We might not agree, we might be worried about what is happening in the States but we can think for ourselves, surely?
No information would have stopped the riots FGT. He murdered little girls and attempted to murder others. He had a brown face. That was all the rioters needed. They would do the same again in possession of all available facts.

Yes you can section someone under 18 if they are deemed to be a danger to self or others babs - the question is whether his behaviour prior to the attacks signalled that level of danger.
Unusual on GN from an established poster I think Allira. And unpleasant.
He didnt just have a brown face did he. He had an al Qaeda pamphlet, and was known to every service in the world.
That wasn’t known to the rioters though.
Did Starmer make the decision, or was it the CPS advising police on the need to avoid any possibility of risking the trial?
Starmer acted in a timely fashion by using the Courts. Community tensions were inflamed by, it seems, deliberate misinformation saying the murder arrived on a small boat. This fed into the anti asylum seeker rage and frustration. Being cross doesn’t give anyone the right to set fire to buildings with people in them, to attack police officers and riot.
That behaviour is down to the rioters, no one else is responsible.
I don't think that many people who have lived through this trauma care what you think about the knife barlyfields.

None of that info was officially released pre riots. He was a dangerous individual. Why the extent of his risk wasn’t identified will be established in the inquiry

That's unpleasant and inflammatory too nor is it strictly true.
The rioters thought he was an immigrant.
