The Guardian reports that Trump says all Palestinians should move out of Gaza

Last night, Trump:

"President Donald Trump on Monday urged Israel to cancel its ceasefire deal with Hamas and “let all hell break out” if Hamas does not return hostages still being held in Gaza by noon on Saturday.

Earlier Monday, Hamas threatened to postpone the next hostage release scheduled to take place on Saturday “until further notice,” accusing Israel of breaking the ceasefire deal.

“As far as I’m concerned, if all of the hostages aren’t returned by Saturday at 12 o’clock – I think it’s an appropriate time – I would say, cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office after signing executive actions.

“I’d say they ought to be returned by 12 o’clock on Saturday, and if they’re not returned – all of them, not in drips and drabs, not two and one and three and four and two. Saturday at 12 o’clock, and after that, I would say, all hell is going to break out.”

Pressed on what “all hell” might entail in Gaza, Trump said, “You’ll find out, and they’ll find out — Hamas will find out what I mean.”

“I’m speaking for myself. Israel can override it, but from myself, Saturday at 12 o’clock, and if they’re not – they’re not here, all hell is going to break out,” he added.

"He said explicitly in an interview this weekend that Palestinians would not have a right to return to Gaza under his plan to take US ownership of the strip and rebuild it.

“No, they wouldn’t,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News when asked whether the Palestinians would have a right to return. “Because they will have much better housing. Much better – in other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.”

Trump’s assertion that Palestinians wouldn’t be entitled to return to Gaza is certain to deepen international opposition to the proposal, which drew outcry when he first announced it last week at a news conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Also on Monday — one day before meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah at the White House — Trump suggested that he could withhold aid from Jordan and Egypt if they do not accept new Palestinian refugees."

"He added during his interview on Fox — taped on Saturday but aired Monday morning — that it would take years before anyone could consider living in Gaza given the destruction of the war.

Trump told Fox his plan was to “own” Gaza.

“We’ll build safe communities a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is and in the meantime, I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land,” he said."

Allira, no I didn't. I worked in the medical field and the engineering field and later education and history. All translations are a compromise of sort. A contract has to be 100% accurate, whereas poetry at the other end, must consider form. This is all totally irrelevant to this thread.

Allira your post reflects exactly what I heard on the BBC News, in the last half hour. Israel have responded by saying they have not breached the ceasefire.

I hope that this turns out to be a hiccup and the rest of the hostages can be released. The condition of the ones released on Saturday gives serious cause for concern about the ones still in captivity.

As a professional translator in my younger days, multiple translations of the same text can become nothing more than Chinese Whispers- especially if some choose to put different emphasis/spin on it. The best example is the story of Adam and Eve. As said, irrelevant to what is happening in Gaza.

A member of my family is a professional translator but, of course, with the very technical work she translates, it has to be absolutely precise. Poetic licence would not be desirable!!

As a quick diversion, there are about 30 main Christian denominations, and probably about 100X more. All with different wordings in the Bible and different interpretations- the variety is huge.

But of course nothing to do with Jews or Muslims in the modern concept- or the subject of this thread.

Trump has confirmed

'Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump repeated his plan to take over Gaza.

"I'm committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as US rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it," he said, while travelling to the Super Bowl.

Trump added that he thinks "it's a big mistake to allow people, the Palestinians... to go back another time".

"It's a demolition site. It'll be reclaimed. It'll be levelled out, fixed up. There won't be anybody there," Trump said, adding that they will build "beautiful sites" on the land.

"People can come from all over the world and live there, but we're going to take care of the Palestinians."

This is scary and really serious. And what on earth does he mean by 'we're going to take care of the Palestinians?.

I gave you links to some atrocities perpetrated by the IDF- but your response if 'it is a report from their side, so can't be verified or trusted' - knowing full well that it is Israel who will NOT allow reporters to report!

I also gave a link from the Israel side, with several ex IDF serving soldiers, describing some of the atrocities they took part in- but I suppose you don't trust those either. Women and children have been repeatedly beaten, tortured, raped- for a lot longer than October 7th by the IDF, in total impunity. Babies too. It has been going on for decades, more. But you refuse to even begin to accept that this is the case.

No-one has replied however.

If

a) two State solution no longer possible/feasible or even desired

and

b) Palestinians should not be forced off their land, for all sorts of reasons, including legal and humane, as it would mean the final ethnic cleansing of a people who have already had some of their land wrongly confiscated in 1948, with more and more taken, forcibly and illegally, and have lost all they had in the last 2 years.

Then what will happen. And I said 'where do we go from there' because like it or not, believe it or not- we are all involved, adn it will affect us all. If the Palestinians are forced to leave so that Netanyahu and Trump can share it- all Hell will let lose in world. And we will be there too.

As for the books confiscated in the bookstore in Jerusalem, they were ancient and clerical books, on the history of Palestine and the Palestinian people, not Hamas propaganda.
