The other filled up very swiftly - so I assume a need for it’s continuation.

Even Republicans are worried.

The USA seems to lack a mechanism for dealing with a President who is clearly unfit for purpose. At least our Prime Ministers have to go when they can no longer count on the support of the House of Commons. It's just a pity that the HoC, along with party members, are so bad at choosing their successors.

Rhe US does, in fact, have a mechanism. What we are lacking is people who are willing to use it.

Wyllow3 Sat 05-Apr-25 23:26:54

Its true we have the mechanism, like removing BJ, but his own party was enough against him at that point.

Alt-national Parks is estimating total crowds around the country at 3.1 million protestors.

If you don't follow ANP on Social Media, I highly encourage it. Started by rogue Park Rangers during Trumps first term, they have now built a group of of 20,000 mostly now fired Federal employees who are reporting from an inside position.

I think what happens from here depends on what the Stock Market does Monday. If it continies to fall it won't go well for him.

Interestingly enough, the first lawsuit against his tariffs was filed by Conservatives. And Conservatives in Congress are starting to file bills to reign him in.

The only people who can effectively bring him down is MAGA. And they are not happy with him right now. There number of them who regret thier vote right now is rising. There are starting to be entire websites dedicated to those who are leaving MAGA.

And, if our first mechanism to remove him fails, we also have a 2nd. Though no one wants it to get to that.

Trump voters ARE attending protests today apparently.

I was wondering if any would be, though I am surprised they admit it.

We are on a cruise ship just now and bumped into some Americans. All avid Trump supporters! They’re still out there….

Thank you for all your posts imaround. It's good to here what you are hearing directly.

Yes they are nanna8. There will always be some who think his actions are wonderful. Luckily, they are in the minority, though rather loud unfortunately.

Here is the Alt-National Park Service story. I knew they started during Trumps first term, but forgot it was because Trump tried to stifle communication.

I cant wait to read the book of how Park Rangers saved the United States. smile

I just found an Alt-Smithsonian account.

Here is a starter pack (list) of all the Alt accounts on Bluesky

This has a good video of today's protests from. Various cities.

Numbers now estimated at 5 million nationwide. I still have no idea how they estimate it.

Good news! 4 more Republicans have joined Chuck Grassley in sponsoring his bill to take away Trumps unlimited Executive Order powers.

I know we aren't going down without a fight. (As a figure of speech, not a threat). We are waking up and starting to organize. Don't give up on us yet dear world. We're just getting started. thanks

Very positive news, imaround. I suppose Mr Trump was too busy playing golf to notice?

It only takes a few more but its issue based not anti Trump as such I presume.

All this reminds me very much of how the Remainers organised events after the referendum to overturn what they didn’t vote for.

Brilliant. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. Well done Sir.

He is excellent. He has to be a contender for a future democrat leader.

He speaks so clearly and uses an apparently small example of what Trump/Musk are doing stand for the suffering undoubtedly millions will experience as time goes on.

(The phrase, "death by a thousand cuts" springs to mind.)

I've listened to longer speeches by him and he comes across as authoritative, clear, well informed, but also compassionate.

ayse Sun 06-Apr-25 14:53:57

Well, I hope the USA public against Trump manage to contain the problem and resolve it. However, whatever happens this is a wake up call to western style democracies not to rely on one major power.

I have never really trusted the USA (WMD) springs to mind. They were very backward at coming forward in WW1 and WW2. So glad we didn’t get involved with Vietnam.

I think Trump et al will be buying up shares to enrich themselves and making thousands of people poorer at the same time.

Apparently worth 3.4 billion, remains an empathatic man.

Good to have robust opposition. Always.
Checks & balances are very important.

16 people have already died from flooding in the south. I hope his response is better then it has been. I am not even sure if FEMA still exists and if it does, what shape it is in.
