Trump and his drug addled friend Musk are not rational reasonable people and we should not waste our time trying to work out the whys and wherefores of their conduct.

Just start ignoring them. help Canada and Mexico sell their goods elsewhewre and avoid trading with the US ourselves.

On Monday, Doug Ford Ontario Premier, threatened to cut off the exported electricity to the US. Seems like this could be a reality.

So now the stock market in the US is in free fall again.
Can’t homeland security arrest Trump as a danger to the nation.

On a slightly more optimistic note, the US is once more supplying intelligence to Ukraine after talks in Saudi today.

Trump is erratic, a bully, and utterly negative unless you are in favour. It's tragic after people like Obama who tried to care about medical care and believed in working with allies instead of against, perpetually in conflict, with them. You cannot respect a man like him, who choses to rule by fear unless you are a buddy (and watch your back, anyway).

Apparently the increase in tariffs on Canadian Steel etc won't be happening, however he's imposed a 25% tariff on British steel as from now. I presume he's very unhappy with King Charles meeting Zelensky before him.

The 25% tariff on steel and aluminium is being applied globally by POTUS Trumps administration not just the U.K.

So Trump is playing the EU at its own protectionism racket with tariffs. Von der Leyen has nothing to complain about. The EU has got away with it for decades.

Canada has a number of FTAs, and it has products that the entire world needs - not just the USA. So it can extend its FTAs and begin to look elsewhere for customers which wouldn’t be too hard I would have thought.

So although it would take time and effort Canada can quite easily survive without the USA and its tariffs.

Contracts are constantly renegotiated, that’s how a free market operates?

Trump seems to equate VAT with tariffs - yet the US has its own purchase taxes. He is singularly thick.
