Reform UK candidate who praised Hitler and Assad put in charge of vetting

"Jack Aaron, whose past comments on controversial leaders led to widespread criticism, is now overseeing candidate selection"

"A Reform UK general election candidate who said Hitler was “brilliant” at inspiring people and described Bashar al-Assad as “gentle by nature” is now in charge of the party’s vetting process.

Jack Aaron’s comments about the Nazi leader and Syrian dictator came to light last year when he stood for Reform in the Welwyn Hatfield constituency. He also claimed Vladimir Putin’s use of force in Ukraine was “legitimate”.

Aaron made the comments as part of a pseudoscientific theory of personality types. He is the president of the self-styled World Socionics Society – a group promoting the idea that there are 16 personality types.

However, while he was one of many Reform candidates whose comments caused controversy and led to many being sacked, he is now head of vetting at Reform UK"

A year ago, at election time, The Telegraph also commented on him

"Reform UK candidate defends Hitler remarks
Jack Aaron made comments about Nazi dictator as he promoted socionics, described by critics as pseudo-scientific theory"

Not a surprise.

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Mar-25 12:27:55

I was surprised, as in how bizarre can you get when you are trying to revive public opinion? Surely out of all the supporters someone with credibility and a clean record was available.

That’s going to end well, then.

Obviously people who don't believe in eugenics would never support Hitler mum2three. That includes the vast majority of the population I imagine.

Ludicrous!

How you could even begin to think like this is quite shocking!

What we actually have, in the main, is understanding that some (a very few in the great scheme of things) men AND woman feel the need to live their lives as a different gender to their biological birth gender, white people have actually been responsible for quite a lot of wrongs over the centuries, having any kind of mental health issue is not “being happy all the time”, and despite everything most of us do walk the streets everyday and are still here to tell the tale.

However grim things might feel in this country, we are still so much better off than so many other countries and no, I’d never ever support Hitler! (Or Putin or Trump or Farage!)

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Mar-25 13:59:40

An extraordinary cruel ignorance of the suffering real serious MH conditions cause - and Hitler would have rounded those up and murdered them.

As cossy says on the others - we are in a time when some cultural norms are being challenged, but that's not bad of and in itself.

Trying to recap my History lessons, to figure out what one poster believes Hitler was correct about? Nope, nothing comes to mind, but feel free to elucidate.

As a friend of mine says, Wow just Wow.

Where to start with this nonsense?

Oh, forget it.

Maremia Sun 16-Mar-25 14:19:26

Well, Reform hasn't actually recruited many 'candidates' who are above reproach, have they?

Iam64 Sun 16-Mar-25 14:19:59

mum2three - you’ve surpassed yourself here. Absolute nonsense

AGAA4 Sun 16-Mar-25 14:28:30

Hitler wanted to get rid of anyone who was not perfect in his eyes.
He did cause the deaths of many children with disabilities who were taken from their parents to centres where they were left to starve or killed off. How anyone can think that Hitler did anything good is beyond me.
He murdered thousands of people which can never be forgotten.

Anniebach Sun 16-Mar-25 14:32:49

Surely a member of Reform would praise Hitler , death ovens etc, to be free of a section of society would appeal , perhaps when they are in government the new anthem will be
‘Tomorrow Belongs To Me’

Iam64 Sun 16-Mar-25 14:38:15

That gave me the chills Anniebach. Hopefully, Reform is falling apart and there’s no chance they could ever be our government

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Mar-25 14:41:47

Just googling around it, Reform seem pretty inept in selecting their "Vetting advisors".

Around the time of their last election they appointed one Colin Bloom to vet candidates..

On Nigel Farages Facebook pages June 18th he complained:

"Reform paid a vetting company £144k to carry out candidate checks. Not a single piece of work was delivered.

Colin Bloom has links to the Tory party & has very serious questions to answer.

Lawyers have been instructed. We do not rule out police action"

You couldn't make it up.

Let’s 🙏 they all disappear back into the black holes.

Nasty bunch

Well if they rid of anyone they don’t like or who don’t support them there won’t be many left!

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Mar-25 14:56:58

We don't know yet when the Runcorn by -election is - I hope the voters are made aware of this appointment, also wondering what difference the split in the party will make, as Rupert Lowe was popular and perceived to have been treated badly.

Labour has selected local teacher and councillor Karen Shore, Reform hasn't named a candidate yet but no doubt Aaron will be on the job.

Oreo Sun 16-Mar-25 15:00:02

Wyllow3 a comma after the word Assad would have made your OP make more sense😁I thought Assad had been assigned a new job.
It’s Reform innit? There are certainly some rum ones.

glasshalffullagain Sun 16-Mar-25 15:04:07

Let's worry about a comma. I think not.

People on here openly supporting Hitler. Great.

Oreo Sun 16-Mar-25 15:07:01

Am not in the least worried thanks, just thought it was amusing my thinking that Assad had been given a job.
Lighten up.

Oreo Sun 16-Mar-25 15:07:31

Who supports Hitler?
