Disgraced comedian charged with oral rape and sexual assault following Metropolitan Police investigation.

No wonder in the interim he ‘found religion’.

Horrible man, sleazy at best. Full of himself.

I think Andrew Sachs died never getting over that prank by Brand & Ross.
Johnathan Ross was just as bad getting involved, I think he was suspended from tv for a while, whilst RB was banned indefinitely. I can’t stand either of them, both sleazy characters.

I wonder why some think he won't get a fair trial. Do you not think the jurors will honour the oath they take to reach a verdict "according to the evidence" ? The judge will issue guidelines as to the thresholds to be met for a guilty verdict. It's far more likely he'd be acquitted than wrongly convicted.

M0nica Sat 05-Apr-25 10:20:45

I can see absolutely no reason why he should not have a fair trial. He is not a likeable man and many clearly do nto like him, including me, but that does not preclude him having a fair trial.

Just the look of that freak makes me vomit! Huge beady staring eyes, overly scruffy/messy hair and beard...

I can't think of her name but there was a woman reporter some years ago who was sent to interview him, this was mostly before anyone knew what he was really like and he bombarded her with countless emails and calls demanding she sleeps with him. Apparently she did go on a ''date'' with him once but found him to be vile and predatory and pestering. He demanded her address, which she wouldn't give. She was receiving a constant bombardment from him. He had her professional email and phone number but someone gave him her personal ones without her knowledge or permission and it was from there he was pestering her.

The ONLY good thing about him is he genuinely loves animals and when his dog was taken ill, he was half way around the world on a plane and he sent the vet his card details for the bills and as soon as the plane landed he immediately got a return plane back to England and rushed to the vet to be with his beloved dog. Good on him for that but as for his attitude to women he's sheer evil!

I agree with you Ziggy. Some members of my family have been to see him live. They said he didn't get laugh by making fun of other people like some comedians. Some of the comments on here are unbelievable, especially about his appearance. Yes the Andrew Sachs episode was terrible but Ross sat back and let Brand take the flack

Why that Joanthan Ross is back on TV is beyond me.

The violin advert was funny though!

Kandinsky Sat 05-Apr-25 11:56:07

I like him.
He was different & funny.
Thought he was very good looking in his younger days and I’m sure he had 100’s ( if not 1000’s ) of women throwing themselves at him.
After the Cliff Richard incident I presume people are innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Just couldn’t stand him - is he the one with the wild hair and related in sone way to that lovely ‘Manuel’ from Fawlty Towers ? Apologies if I’ve got it all wrong ….

No, he is not related to Andrew Sachs at all.

He, and the equally revolting Jonathan Ross, were accused of making prank calls to Andrew Sachs, leaving lewd messages and vile comments about Andrew Sachs's granddaughter, with whom Brand was (inexplicably) having a relationship.

Not that he’s quite as repellent as Brand, but I can’t stand Jonathan Ross either, especially after that vile incident. Why Classic FM have given him a Saturday night slot I will never understand.

Yes some comments on here are unbelievable, thought for a minute I'd been transported back to the 70s playground.
"A freak" how rude!!!

If, and I repeat IF he's a rapist then he deserves to be punished but let's not have trial by social media, please

Mt61 Sat 05-Apr-25 12:25:27

Absolutely Allira. Can’t bare him. I don’t want to imagine what that poor fellow went through, listening to the vile talk from this pair. Did someone else on that radio station not also take the fall? Can’t remember who employed JR for his tv show but I would not have touched him with a barge pole after that. Dispicable pair 😩

True Anniebach.

Allira Sat 05-Apr-25 12:40:54

The jury has to put that all aside, however difficult.

sodapop Sat 05-Apr-25 12:47:52

I don't like trial by media either but live by the sword die by the sword

My sensible adult children liked him so he must have appealed to them in some way. His popularity passed me by but then lots of things do. It has taken a long time for this to come to court despite all the publicity of some years ago and I am glad that I won't have to make any decisions about his guilt or innocence.

Aber57 Sat 05-Apr-25 14:05:28

I wonder how friendly Mr Jonathan Ross is with him now.

But how do they feel about him now.?

Parsley3 Sat 05-Apr-25 17:59:09

MOnica He has blotted his copybook with them now. It is disconcerting how a popular figure can reel sensible people in while being a rank bad yin all along.

Anniebach Sat 05-Apr-25 18:39:24

They think he is guilty ?

Iam64 Sat 05-Apr-25 19:02:59

I’m clear that fair trials are essential.
Let’s stay grounded in reality.

‘ the distressing truth is that if you are raped in Britain today, your chances of seeing justice are slim ‘. (victims Commissioner)

Dr Vera Baird said in her annual report in 2020 that we are witnessing the effective decriminalisation of rape.

Saunders Law - Virtually all victims are denied justice: Here is the roadmap to failure. Since 2016-2017 the number of rapes reported has increased by 67% from 42,059 to 70,330. In 2021-2022 onky 3.2% of those were prosecuted (2,223). For those prosecuted, the conviction rate in 2022 was 62%l. …. The total reports include historical allegations which are usually harder to prove. But the broad indication is that, during 2021-2022 of the 70,330 rapes reported to police only 1,378 led to conviction. This is a conviction rate of less than 2%

The fact Brand is being charged does not mean he’s guilty. It does indicate a thorough investigation by police, reviewed by CPS which suggests these skilled investigators think the Court needs to consider the evidence

Parsley3 Sat 05-Apr-25 19:15:57

Anniebach

They think he is guilty ?

If you mean my children, they have not mentioned him for a long time and I doubt if they are following this at all.

He's not related, but the connection is that Brand had slept with Andrew Sachs' granddaughter and phoned him about it.

I remember when the allegations were first made about Brand, and how many people on here insisted that the women were out for what they could get, because he is famous and they were too scared to speak up at the time of the assaults. I hope Brand gets his comeuppance, and that the whole sorry story serves to encourage women to take no notice of the sniping and come forward when they are assaulted by people like him.

Hear, hear!

valdavi Sat 05-Apr-25 19:29:16

I agree Monica but when someone high profile is actually charged - chances are he will be found guilty. (OJ being a big exception but that was the USA where what you can pay means more than facts)

NanKate Sat 05-Apr-25 21:11:29

Last year RB and a friend were walking around my local Waitrose with a large Alsatian. He wasn’t buying anything just laughing with his mate. I complained the next time I was in the store about the dog but I got virtually nowhere. I was told it was ok to bring in an assistance dog, whatever that is.

I think he is thoroughly obnoxious.

Finally the man from OneCan who came to talk to our WI said RB gave very generously to this charity.
