The last post was from imaround telling us what books have been banned from a Naval Library:

"Over 300 books banned at the US Naval Academy.

Apparently there's no proof that Baron Trump ( don't you just love that name!) was refused a place at Harvard or Columbia but it would explain a great deal if he was. Trump does love revenge it seems to be one of his main motivators along with avarice and the love of power.

Perhaps Donnie thought they would award HIM an honorary degree, but was turned down?

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 24-May-25 13:31:54

How disappointing, foxie: perhaps he was too clever to apply.
He did, however, attend Oxbridge- well, the establishment in Palm Beach Florida calling itself "Oxbridge College". No, really...

Ooops. Apparently the Senate still has to vote on this Bill. So it’s not quite made it into law yet.

Thank goodness for that. I'm sure it won't just slip through unnoticed by eager beaver Democrat lawyers and hopefully to more progressive Republicans who draw the line at what seems to be a fundamental attack on the constitution. It only needs a handful of Republicans to vote against or abstain.

What Trump is not doing is shouting out to Putin that having Ukrainians murdered, bombed and imprisoned on a daily basis is totally unacceptable and should be stopped immediately.

Trump is a coward and wants `Putin to like him.

Wyllow3 Sun 25-May-25 23:06:32

Honestly, just when you think you cant believe anything new

"Young US men are joining Russian churches promising 'absurd levels of manliness"

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c30q5l8d4lro

and many are pro Putin

(also of course womens' duty is to have babies and kitchen......)

Having sent Free Speech people over here on the Abortion issue, and criticising on Free Speech and Social Media in a prominent UK case, and general criticism about our Online Safety Laws for a long time,

The US are going to "Vet " people through Social Media accounts themselves:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy75eenl46eo

Not that they haven't been doing it for ages - their own internal security systems have been doing this for crime for a very long time anyway, and now its possible for them to re-define "Crimes" .

Wyllow3 Wed 28-May-25 14:25:36

More distance/splits between Musk/Trump over the spending bill passed through Congress - the article attributes it to divisions in the Republicans - Musk complains all his DOGE cuts are not getting through - Spending on defence and immigration gone well up so money saved on Doge doesnt get out there for the public as Trump wanted to continue tax cutting...it needs Imaround to explain it properly!

From the Facebook page of The Alt National Park Service
2days ago I quote the post whole and uncut -

"Please read, this is important. Sorry it’s long.
Trump’s move to have Elon Musk step aside wasn’t a retreat. It was a distraction. With Musk’s name out of the headlines, many assumed the controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had quietly ended. It hasn’t. It’s just changed hands.
Enter Peter Thiel, the billionaire founder of Palantir and close ally of Musk. Thiel and his company are now central to Trump’s newest plan: building a massive government-run database on every American.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Trump signed an executive order in March forcing government agencies to share data.
- Palantir, a company with deep ties to the far-right and known for building surveillance tools, has been tapped to lead the effort.
- DOGE has now been granted access to the U.S. Treasury Department.
- Palantir has already received over $113 million in government funds since Trump returned to office, and just secured a new $795 million contract with the Department of Defense. (Follow the money and see where it goes)
Palantir’s software is already being used inside the Department of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and more. The company is now in talks with the IRS and Social Security Administration to expand further. This means personal data, from tax returns to medical records, could soon be compiled in one place, under one administration, with little oversight.
This push began under Musk’s leadership at DOGE. Now it’s Thiel’s turn. And make no mistake, this is about power. With a centralized, government-controlled data system, Trump gains new tools to target critics, intimidate dissenters, and go after immigrants.
They want you to think the threat is gone. But it’s growing, and it’s being handed to people who have no business controlling our lives.
Stay informed. Stay loud. This isn’t over. Stop the billionaire takeover!"

From Reuters -
www.reuters.com/world/us/trumps-sweeping-tax-cut-bill-includes-provision-weaken-court-powers-2025-05-30/

but Alt National Parks FB page says that " . . under reconciliation rules, every provision must have a significant budgetary impact. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this section has none, meaning it, and others like it, will be stripped. So as long as Senate Democrats hold the line, large chunks of this bill that have nothing to do with the budget will be eliminated."

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Jun-25 21:20:56

Your first post is chilling indeed if it comes to be

"Thiel and his company are now central to Trump’s newest plan: building a massive government-run database on every American"

I read on this

"Privacy advocates, student unions, and labor rights organizations are among those who have sued to stop Trump’s data collection efforts"

There surely must be those on the right have strong concerns about privacy?

Thiel supported donated $15 million to Vance's 2022 senate election campaign and has been connected with him and donating to him for various things since 2011.

If Trump is removed from office, Vance will take his place.

This administration is a plutocracy.

Elegran Mon 02-Jun-25 22:03:31

Trump is a disposable front man (whatever he thinks is his role as POTUS) who is the battering ram to break the defences built into the US constitution against a hostile takeover bid from inside the government. It is predictable that he could be removed, by legal means or violence, but before he goes he could destroy so much that the billionaires have no problem keeping a controlling influence on the country, using a mixture of surveillance technology, AI and deepfake, and practically unlimited money.

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 03-Jun-25 07:47:21

Chilling but possible, Elegran.

MaizieD Tue 03-Jun-25 09:49:22

..but before he goes he could destroy so much that the billionaires have no problem keeping a controlling influence on the country, using a mixture of surveillance technology, AI and deepfake, and practically unlimited money.

This is why we should be working to prevent people acquiring so much money in the first place, not, admiring those who accumulate such wealth.

Wanted to stop by and drop this article about The Warren Report laying out Musks time in the federal government.

I will have to try and dig up the report itself, but don't have time right now.

This is an archived paywall free version.

Wyllow3 Wed 04-Jun-25 00:17:52

I'll read it tomorrow.

right now - end of the bromance..

"Elon Musk calls Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ tax bill a ‘disgusting abomination’
The former head of Doge said the ‘outrageous’ tax bill will cause the deficit to grow to $2.5tn"

No comment. Unprintable.

imaround Wed 04-Jun-25 05:16:05

If we have to live with it, we may as well find it hilarious when they fight amongst themselves.

lafergar Thu 05-Jun-25 14:30:48

See Trump has pulled up the drawbridge. What a moron.

Wyllow3 Thu 05-Jun-25 15:17:47

Yes, he's used the excuse of an attack in Colorado of a man who was Muslim to ban a whole raft of Muslim countries (with of course special entry for the Favoured Few (aka rich?) fgs, he's just done this saga deal with Saudi Arabia!

And the irony is that the man was actually Egyptian, which isnt on the banned list

Very cruel for Afghans who backed the US when they were there, although of course its OK to check out they aren't terrorists but they'd do that anyway,

And its criminal and ignorance about banning people from Myanmar (ex-Burma) where there is a real fight by democratic supporters against military tyranny

and the majority of the population are Buddhist and early protests were Buddhist monks

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 05-Jun-25 16:31:49

I understand that Mr Trump has some business links with Egypt.... surely not the reason that Egyptians are not on the naughty list?

Aely Sun 08-Jun-25 18:41:18

How can a supposed adult and politician in such a position as Trump possibly think that calling the Governor of California, (Mr Newsom), Mr Newscum is acceptable language! How old is he? Six?

Also, I am very concerned about Trump sending the National Guard into Los Angeles without a request. Is Trump trying to find an excuse to depose the elected California government?

As for warning Musk of "serious Consequences" if he supports rivals to Republicans - is this against the constitution? Surely an American citizen has the right to support whoever he chooses to?

imaround Tue 10-Jun-25 23:29:38

While we are distracted with LA, Trump reversed Biden area guidelines that hospitals treat women who need emergency abortions, even in states where abortion is legal.

This means that hospitals can refuse to treat pregnant women who need an abortion for medical reasons, such as miscarriage.

The article lists the names of the women who have already died because they couldn't get lifesaving care during a miscarriage. It also lists the women who have been arrested after miscarrying.

Lots more women are going to die now.

imaround Wed 11-Jun-25 05:32:20

Remember, back when California was on fire, and the Trump supporters, even on this thread, said that Trump needs to get into office so he can get the money to the states better, faster and bigger than Biden did?

He lied. Again. As usual.

www.reuters.com/business/environment/trump-says-fema-be-wound-down-after-hurricane-season-2025-06-10/

Guess what happens if the White House gets to distribute funds? He already said he won't send money to blue states.
