R.I.P. Virginia..this is a tragedy for her family and friends and people she has supported over the years who never received justice over assault claims…
Hand your head in shame ANDREW

There was a lawyer on r4 this morning who had represented many of Epstein and Maxwells victims, but not Virginia. She said sometimes people will offer lower payments just to get someone off their backs, but huge payments like the amount Andrew paid ( over 10 millions I believe) are quite different because she implied no innocent person would pay so much.
Andrew made a terrible mistake agreeing to a tv interview, he did not come out from it well. He was an embarrassment to himself his family and the nation and has paid a price of sorts.

Anniebach Mon 28-Apr-25 13:31:05

The amount was undisclosed, his tv interview was toe-curling,
such ego

RosieandherMaw Mon 28-Apr-25 13:38:38

Paying money to perhaps avoid humiliation - money "does give power and influence to those who possess it". He skated

Andrew was indeed on thin ice. hmm

Was the late Queen not involved in the decision? how many would have been involved in the decision?

Anniebach
Many named but one was summoned , he was British
Your post was a bit cryptic for me Annibachgrin, do you think he was targeted because of his nationality, and/or his status, whilst other offenders were bypassed?

Why a grin?

Why the grin? ...

To mark my embarrassment at my failure for not understanding the thrust of your post.
I was hoping the emoji would soften what I thought might be an intrusive question from me?

No subtext intended, only that I was at fault for not getting the gist first time.

Hope this explains my post? smile

Sorry Namsnanny I saw the word and was puzzled .
I wonder if Andrew was the sacrifice, he remained silent after
his ghastly interview, what ego, if he had gone to court who else would have been called, he is no loss as a royal , was it wiser to pay up ?

It does seem that Andrew managed to dodge quite a few bullets and was extremely lucky that our late Queen was non-confrontational and a firm believer in retaining the dignity and mystique of the Royal Family.

Not sure he would have got away quite so lightly if his brother had been King back then, and pretty certain that with the next generation down he would have got a boot on his backside and landed up in a hut somewhere on the Falkland Islands!

I would guess she probably had to sign some kind of non-disclosure agreement when they paid her off, but even so
I can't imagine him having any remorse about her tragic death now he knows she won't ever be able to speak again.

His vastly over-inflated ego seems to be the only thing that drives him.

Anniebach Mon 28-Apr-25 15:38:31

Another view on this , was he told a young girl so wanted to
meet him, I think he wouldn’t have a problem not believing this, at Maxwells house, at a nightclub, pose for photographs,
would there be a any talk of her being paid when she could sleep ,with a prince , the nightclub and photograph doesn’t
fit with a dark secret ?

No problem. 👍
Yes I agree he is egotistical and suffers with an entitlement problem. He is his own worst enemy.
Bearing in mind we now know Epstein was setting people up to blackmail later on, I do wonder if that was the original plan for him.

Anniebach Mon 28-Apr-25 15:58:35

Thank you Namsnanny the photograph Andrew and Maxwell with Virginia, Epstein took it , why did she keep it
or did she keep it !

Iam64 Mon 28-Apr-25 16:06:31

Anniebach, so far as I’m aware, Victoria Guide didn’t sue Prince Andrew, she filed a civil suit in New York alleging Epstein trafficked her, including to Prince Andrew. They settled out of Court and he paid her an astronomical amount which most people conclude confirmed he had a case to answer
Who knows why other rich, powerful men who travelled on Epsteins plane to his holiday island haven’t been prosecute or subject to civil proceedings. I suspect the lack of prosecutions is on large part down to Epstein death along with the legal complexity of prosecuting these kind of cases
I suspect we can all name one very powerful man who was a frequent flier

Anniebach Mon 28-Apr-25 16:23:47

Strange only one photograph, if Virginia herself kept it was she fond of it or did she think it would come in useful or was someone leading her

Parsley3 Mon 28-Apr-25 17:05:46

Who knows how many photos there are but the one with Andrew makes the news because of who he is. Perhaps she kept many photos but the UK press know that the British public wouldn't be interested in publishing a photo of her with an unknown American. VG'S motivation for anything she has done is beside the point now that she has taken her own life. R.I.P.

Annie I’m sure you don’t mean to put responsibility on Victoria Guiffe for the abuse she suffered. You’ve acknowledged the arrogance Prince Andrew showed in the disastrous interview. I struggle to understand whether you simply don’t believe what she claims, whether you see Andrew as a victim here

Rest in peace Victoria Guiffe, a courageous fighter for the abused and exploited. I hope her children find some peace

Anniebach Mon 28-Apr-25 18:03:55

Iam I have always spoken of the horrific life she lived, my thoughts on the photograph does question why one photograph, visits to an island , plane journeys, visitors to
Epstein’s house, only Andrew, yet many well known men spoken of.
Why can it not be she was used through her life so why not in the Andrew visits to Maxwell , this isn’t saying he didn’t sleep with her.

Iam64 Mon 28-Apr-25 19:37:16

Thanks for clarifying Annie. I posted a response but the gremlins ate it.

Iam TikTok, Emily Maitlis has given a very caring tribute to
Virginia

She was in her teens when she was recruited by Epstein. However, it was only in recent years that her time as a prostitute was made public. She had married and had children and presumably lived a normal life until her marriage broke down.
Therefore I don't think her suicide can be blamed solely on that period of her life. The lies she told about the 'accident' in which she suffered 'fatal' injuries shows that her mind was disturbed. It was probably an accumulation of things, including the lack of sympathy she received by many people.

Iam64 Thu 15-May-25 17:15:15

She did not work as a prostitute. She was groomed, trafficked and sexually abused and exploited
