Gaza and Aid

Whilst I accept that we, in the UK, are not getting the full news stories from Gaza, I don’t believe the aid agencies are “lying” or “misrepresenting” the current dire situation of the Palestinian people.

According to various news reports, from several sources, including aid agencies, 40,000 children and babies will die in the near future if they don’t receive the food they need.

This is not an anti-Semitic post, nor am I criticising the Israeli people, nor their army forces. I do not support what Hamas did and do, it was despicable and evil, they are terrorists.

I do, however, blame Netanyahu, for his actions and I genuinely believe he’s acting in his own interests, not that of his people nor the hostages. Surely there are now no longer any hostages still alive? Those no murdered by Hamas have possibly been killed by the relentless fire from Israel.

What is currently occurring in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis.

Two Israeli embassy staff shot dead in Washington DC by a gunman shouting "Free Palestine". A young engaged couple.

Just noting this on here as a bit of a relief from the outwardly anti-Israel posts.

When one calls out the Israeli government, that does NOT mean that one is anti-Israeli.

When I call out the Hamas terrorists does not mean I am anti- Palestinian

I call out the American government, but I’m not anti-American.

I call out the Russian government, but I’m not anti-Russian.

I call out the British government but I’m not anti-British.

I am however anti-genocide, anti-violence, and anti-hate from wherever it emanates.

From a Spectator article this week: 'senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri dismissed the deaths of tens of thousands in Gaza, insisting they were replaceable. ‘These are just the costs,’ he said, calling it a new interpretation of the Quran.'

Really?

Hmm! This individual has an interesting Wiki profile:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_Abu_Zuhri

I don't think he's representative of all Palestinians.

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 10:17:27

That's a strange way to categorise a double murder ferry23.

It was that specific speech that brought out the anti-Hamas Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza, it is reported in the BBC article I posted above. enough was enough!

I thought it might be the speech. He really is an extremist and I'm glad Gazans have reacted.

They are brave, and I hope they succeed, meanwhile was it you Allira, who mentioned air drops? Reminded me that the USA was planning to build a jetty into the sea at Gaza for aid delivery, but that seems to have dropped out of the news.

Why is that?

Oreo Thu 22-May-25 13:35:56

The young couple were extremists, a life in jail for them now.

Oreo Thu 22-May-25 14:08:20

Sorry, multi tasking here, meant to say the young couple were tragically murdered by the extremist, and a life in jail for him now.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-May-25 14:28:42

I suspect that there will be a call for the death penalty.

Iam64 Thu 22-May-25 15:01:50

Well America uses its death penalty and this is the sort of crime we might expect it to be used

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 15:17:23

You said that the news of the murder, of two young people, was 'it was a bit of a relief'. 'Relief' is not a normal way to feel about a murder.

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 15:23:21

Okay, for all of the GNs looking for accurate numbers, from reliable sources, what about the report of 9000 children being treated for malnutrition in Gaza, from Unicef.

Yes, it was me..

Air drops were carried out last year by the RAF.

Today's news:

In response to a question from Zarah Sultana MP (Independent, Coventry South) about how the Ministry of Defence ensures any intelligence shared with Israel complies with international humanitarian law, Defence Minister Luke Pollard stated: “Defence activity with Israel, as with any other State, is subject to rigorous processes to ensure that it is compliant with domestic and international law.”

The responses also clarify the status of RAF airdrops and surveillance missions. Pollard confirmed that the RAF stopped participating in airdrops of humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing operational constraints and the increased viability of land-based delivery routes. However, he added that the UK remains ready to resume support if required, and continues to press Israel to lift restrictions on humanitarian access.

Where are they being treated , how can they be treated if no
medical and food supplies ?

29 children and elderly people have died from malnutrition related disorders. Reuters.

Flour is getting through to bakeries now. They are working hard producing food now.
Hopefully the baby milk will go to the babies who are in hospital first to save their lives.
Sadly there is not nearly enough food.

Lol - you've completely missed the point and completely misunderstood the post.

I said my post offered relief from the constant anti-Israel posts - not that I was relieved about a murder.

I do so hope that this is the beginning of the end of the blockade.

Those mothers must be desperate.

Anniebach Thu 22-May-25 17:09:50

I doubt many elderly people have mothers

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 18:26:01

No ferry 23, you felt 'relief' that because something dreadful has happened to two young people in the States, that would take away the focus from the genocide in Gaza, and we would no longer call out the atrocities of Netanyahu 's army?
Also 'lol' , seriously?

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 18:26:47

Thanks Allira.

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 18:27:49

The anti-genocide posts will stop, when the genocide stops.

What nonsense.

Please don't test me by trying to manipulate what I said and "hidden meanings" behind it.

Trying to skew posts or manipulate words into something that fits your own agenda is too transparent.

Thank you for the tiny bit of good news. Yes, pray baby food gets through.

The world is watching.
