Gaza and Aid

Whilst I accept that we, in the UK, are not getting the full news stories from Gaza, I don’t believe the aid agencies are “lying” or “misrepresenting” the current dire situation of the Palestinian people.

According to various news reports, from several sources, including aid agencies, 40,000 children and babies will die in the near future if they don’t receive the food they need.

This is not an anti-Semitic post, nor am I criticising the Israeli people, nor their army forces. I do not support what Hamas did and do, it was despicable and evil, they are terrorists.

I do, however, blame Netanyahu, for his actions and I genuinely believe he’s acting in his own interests, not that of his people nor the hostages. Surely there are now no longer any hostages still alive? Those no murdered by Hamas have possibly been killed by the relentless fire from Israel.

What is currently occurring in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis.

They don’t need to relate their blame of hamas to anyone, it just has to be there in their minds.

Maremia Wed 21-May-25 18:08:45

Great, we are in agreement, no conditions, get that aid to those children asap.

Thank you ferry23 , I thank God the figure is incorrect

As do I. It’s us really important to have facts verified and evidenced.

It needs to be fostered not crushed, feed people now. This is something I cant understand, surely it's in Israels interests to show Hamas isnt the only option.

Whst would happen if the UN sent helicopters and carried out aid drops over Gaza, I wonder?
This is done in places where there have been disasters.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 21-May-25 20:05:57

I suspect that they would be violating some international law. Israel is the occupying force and therefore calls the shots. I guess it is possible that it might be shot down, just as the Israel killed the aid workers.

Allira Wed 21-May-25 20:08:08

Why can't we just do this again?

raf.mod.uk/news/articles/uk-participates-in-largest-international-aid-drop-into-gaza1/

Politics? Changes in government?

Allira Wed 21-May-25 20:09:10

X post but it does relate to yours, Whirewave.

Allira Wed 21-May-25 20:09:41

Sorry - Whitewave

Whitewavemark2 Wed 21-May-25 20:12:57

The Israelis are very careless about who they shoot at. Diplomats in the West Bank were part of an incident yesterday.

They are very good at shooting and killing innocent children, innocent civilians, innocent journalists, innocent aid workers, innocent doctors, innocent nurses, and even their own hostages.

But not apparently shooting and killing Hamas.

Oreo Wed 21-May-25 20:25:09

Your anti Israel bias is showing again Whitewavemark2 am sure hamas supporters everywhere will be heartened by those words.
There have been thousands of hamas killed by the IDF but it isn’t easy as they hide behind civilians in schools, hospitals and down in their tunnels. But their days are numbered now.

I was paraphrasing a newsnight interview - so are you saying that the bbc is anti-Israeli?

Oreo Wed 21-May-25 20:39:14

Did the BBC say every word that you wrote just now? I really doubt that.

Oreo Wed 21-May-25 20:40:07

Never mind ‘ paraphrasing’ did they say all those exact words or not?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 21-May-25 21:08:34

Did the BBC say every word that you wrote just now? I really doubt that.

“You’ve killed tens of thousands of civilians. You kill paramedics, you’ve killed journalists. You’ve even killed your own hostages. But not apparently all the Hamas fighters.”

BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire tells Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon, amid rising criticism for Israel’s genocide from non-U.S. Western countries.

OK? I assume you do know what paraphrasing means? I did so because I had read Derbyshires’ question earlier today, and I couldn’t immediately find it so “paraphrased” her. The meanings of my text is exactly the same.

Maremia Wed 21-May-25 21:49:22

Victoria Derbyshire is a journalist I admire, for her firm unwavering questioning.

Wyllow3 Wed 21-May-25 21:59:15

5 out of 7 newspapers including the Times and the FT asked the same questions this morning.

Meanwhile how did we miss this?

BBC reports

Anti-Hamas protests in southern Gaza enter third day
Yes - pictures and report from 2 hours ago
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cyvmmr154v2o

yet Israel is bombing the area where protests are taking place. FGS its a chance to make peace!

That isn’t what you wrote and even paraphrasing ( yes I do know what it means) it isn’t really the same.
Even so, one BBC presenter isn’t the whole BBC.
Derbyshire was being deliberately provoking saying ‘but not apparently all the hamas fighters. Thousands of them have been shot or captured but what army can guarantee that every single one has been got?
In any case of course the BBC are biased about Israel, it shines through all the time.

Oreo Wed 21-May-25 22:11:57

No Wyllow3 it isn’t a chance to make peace. It isn’t about civilians as they have no power in this but turning against hamas is good for the future of Gaza.

Wyllow3 Thu 22-May-25 00:11:05

Bombing and starving civilians who are turning against Hamas is productive and just?

No, it’s not!

Maremia Thu 22-May-25 08:25:33

Not following what your point is Oreo. Do you feel that questions should not be asked about the continued bombing and starving of civilians in Gaza, including too many children?

ferry23 Thu 22-May-25 08:48:17

Two Israeli embassy staff shot dead in Washington DC by a gunman shouting "Free Palestine". A young engaged couple.

Just noting this on here as a bit of a relief from the outwardly anti-Israel posts.

Grantanow Thu 22-May-25 08:51:03

From a Spectator article this week: 'senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri dismissed the deaths of tens of thousands in Gaza, insisting they were replaceable. ‘These are just the costs,’ he said, calling it a new interpretation of the Quran.'

Really?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-May-25 09:12:37

Footage of what I suspect to be the extreme settlers trying to stop the aid entering Gaza.

How can they live with themselves.
