Although I am never likely to meet them, let alone know them, I wish the Johnson family well and I hope the are allowed to enjoy having a lovely new baby without media interference.

If they don’t want “media interference” they should stop constantly posting on social media, though her entire pregnancy was kept a complete secret.

I don't think it it does to be honest. People saying I am sure he will be a good dad is not kindness. If in society we don't comment about men who hurt women and children then i think we encourage that behaviour. I don't care about his politics to be honest but I suppose I do care about pretence.

Bet when he started the affair the last thing on his mind was planning another large family. I’m afraid that, having had a husband who left me after having an affair I have no forgiveness for someone that does the same. And that includes the woman who knowingly had an affair with a married man ( whose wife was ill at the time, too).

No it doesn't. It merely puts this birth in the context of the father's life.+.

This baby is growing up in a family, where on one side they have 6 known half siblings, several well over 20 years older than them,

What will probably happen is that as Johnson crosses the bar between middle and old age - He is 60 now - with children young enough to be his grandchildren prattling at his knee. His four children of this marrriage will barely be aware that they have all these half siblings, just as those half siblings are barely aware they once had a father.

Well I think they're a lovely family and I certainly wish them well. Marina Wheeler was Boris' second wife, the first being Allegra Mostyn-Owen, (No children) who has since married again. His other children are grown up and were when Boris actually left Marina, so they were hardly affected in the way younger children can be. Who knows what goes wrong in other peoples marriages? Staying in an unhappy marriage for the sake of the children can be far more damaging than making a clean break. Some can be jealous and spiteful about another's happiness. Good luck to them and I hope they remain happy.

So do you condone that sort of behaviour. For what it’s worth there is no resentment in our extended family and we aren’t hanging onto grudges. Having said that I can’t help but feel for Johnson’s ex wife and the children from that marriage when they have salt rubbed into the wound by front page pictures like this.I don’t celebrate infidelity I’m afraid.

What about the other child or is it children that he doesn’t even recognise !

If Carrie is Boris Johnson’s love of his life, I hope they and their families are happy.

We could all continue to fall in love with other people when we’re married. Especially when we find someone young and attractive compared to our spouses of many years. It’s just that most people choose not to do so and loyalty prevails.

An earlier poster on this thread said we should all move on and forget about Johnson’s past mistakes.

Having (several) affairs when you’re married with children isn’t a mistake.

Men should be called out on this behaviour regardless of whether it’s Boris Johnson or whoever.

For me, it’s got nothing to do with his politics - it’s to do with his behaviour towards his former wives and children. If Keir Starmer behaved like that, I’d call him out on it too!

The baby is beautiful, aren’t they always. I’m interested in what people would think if it was Carrie on her third marriage having also had a number of affairs, just had her ninth child, with three conceived before she was married. Would she be congratulated, or condemned for her fecklessness?

Not at all, I am a child of divorced parents, my father went on to marry more than once.

From experience I know if I had held on to any resentment I would not have had a loving relationship with my father or my half siblings.
