I had to check that he did really say this but he now knows the truth. His bombing raid was a gamble that has not paid off and he now has to deal with the consequences.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing.”

The man is an absolute disgrace.

Why on this occasion? He is right.

Because they are not the words that should be coming out of a person's mouth. A person who holds one of the highest offices and should be a role model, act with integrity, diplomacy, good humour, decency, wisdom, compassion.

I have just had a quick Google and several sources are reporting that it was Iran that broke the ceasefire first this morning.

Quote from POTUS just now to journalists

You know we have two countries, fighting so hard and for so long they do not know what the fuck they are doing

I guess he is rather angry that his cease fire didn’t hold…

And do you think he is right to be angry? For once, for just the once, I totally agree with him.

Again and again, as soon as some sort of agreement is about to be reached, Israel ensures it can't happen. It startered with the murder of Iksaak Rabin. Again, and again. Netanyahu does not want a deal, and he is dangerous, more dangerous than anyone else on the planet currently.

The irony is that Trump's attack on Iran now means that Iran will definitely build a nuclear weapon.
There is still doubt from experts in the US that there was imminent danger from Iran.
Also Trump acted illegally by not seeking approval from Congress.
By dancing to Netanyahu's tune he has put the whole world in danger and Iran will make sure now that they have a nuclear weapon.

Absolute applause for your take, AGAA4! This is exactly what I was trying to say in a post on this thread.

I could not have put it any clearer. All f-a-c-t-s point to this. Not opinions, thoughts or hopes, just facts. trump completely avoided Congress' approval.

And you better believe Iran will be madly working away to build a bigger and better machine. The attacks have already begun. Next to be struck, the Gulf of Hormuz. Oil folks.

Yes!

They better hurry up with their new nuclear program.
This one that has been destroyed was started in 2006.
Plus they haven’t got to piss in.
Comments from Russia and China are noticeably in their absence.
As for the Gulf of Hormuz, the navel military might that is in that area is awesome.

I don't know about all that. Perhaps you've made an update since this post, as you may have come to learn these strikes were unsuccessful. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-iran-strikes-nuclear-bomb-fordow-b2775494.html

I guess petrol prices will go up once the Strait of Hormuz is closed. That will make everything more expensive for nearly everyone.

He's typed it in capitals so he really means business.

Trump has sent a warning to Israel. Do not drop those bombs in Iran! Send your pilots home!!
Will Netanyahu listen?

Trump's 'War Cabinet' now consists only of people completely loyal to him.
In May, he fired his national security advisor Mike Waltz, dismissed half of the professionals at the National Security Council'
Told reporters that Gabbard, who had managed the inspection, was 'wrong' about the Iranian enrichment status.
He is now being 'advised' by people with no deep knowledge of Iran or the Middle East, for example JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Suzie Wiles, Stephen Miller, Steve Witkoff, a real estate developer, and the 'WAR ROOMS' podcaster Steve Bannon, released last year after being jailed for fraud.
He will be hearing only what he wants to hear.

In that case, very worrying 😳

Human beings have not progressed from settling their differences by killing each other in two millennia.
The only progression is better weapons.
This earth is a beautiful place spoiled by man.
I saw a photo of Israelis on what looked like a very picturesque and peaceful beach.
Wonderful countries ruined by war.

At the time of the Reformation in England, dreadful murders were committed in the name of Christianity. Thankfully at some point, Protestants and Catholics were allowed to co-exist side by side. Obviously Iran Israel is working at a much heightened level of physical warfare and I wonder how much influence the arms trade has in promoting conflict? However as a teenager, I was moved by my visit to a priest’s hiding hole so the torture was very real In Elizabethan England. But we have moved on from that.

The Spanish Inquisition. Persecution of Huguenots on the Continent. Methodists were persecuted in this country. That is not so long ago, relatively speaking.

Totally off topic a family friends house had a priest’s hide hole, with a tunnel which went for 100 metres underground to what is now a pub, previously a Coaching Inn.

I always felt a chill in the house, and really disliked being in it on my own when a teenager.

Thanks GG13, I’m another trying to make sense of my feelings and responses to Israel - Palestine and now Israel - US -Iran. FWIW one of my close friends who happens to be Jewish had his young cousin murdered in the October massacre. A relative visiting from Israel and now trying to return home, reports that anti Netanyahu feelings are reducing in response to fears about Iran.
My friend and his family have always been opposed to Netanyahu and wanted a two state solution

Iam64 I think the two state solution is just a distant dream at the moment.

No one questions Hamas not releasing the Israeli hostages

It was reported that the remains of three hostages were returned last week.

No news of any remaining live hostages, they seem to be forgotten amongst the current bombings.

Trump: I want a Nobel Peace Prize.

Netanyahu: I want to attack Iran.

Trump: Let's do a deal.

And the rest is warfare.

I don’t see how Iran can be stopped from either buying in nuclear weapons or developing its own. I would much rather a world where faiths could work out their differences without bombing the hell out of each other.

Wouldn't we all.

However, it's never going to happen 😥

Anniebach Tue 24-Jun-25 10:08:22

Last Friday a Synagogue in London was broken into, holy books and scrolls destroyed , police said “no indication the attack was antisemitic “ !

My own Jewish friends, GrannyGravy13 are part of Jewish organisations such as Jews for Justice for Palestinians - and one of my friends (who lived in Israel for many years and still has friends there) says there are lots of Jews in Israel who also say "not in my name"

The problem, like many places it seems to me, is much more the leadership than the ordinary people.

Nobody should be afraid to profess their faith though. Nobody should be afraid to walk our streets in peace.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Jun-25 09:55:52

I know that Netanyahu is a problematic leader (to say the least), but I try to put myself in the shoes of a Jewish person living in Israel, surrounded by terrorist groups hiding in plain site in neighbouring countries.

These terrorist have only one aim and that is to annihilate all Jews, of course the Israeli Government (whoever is the leader) are going to pre-empt any aggression.

This does not excuse the actions in Gaza which have gone too far and should cease immediately along with the access of aid and impartial observers from other nations.

One of our close couple friends are `Jewish, they fear showing any signs of their religion in public, no kippah, no Star of David necklace etc. Their main residence is in the U.K., unfortunately they feel the need to spend as much time as allowed in another country at the moment.

Why should Jews have to hide their religion?

Iran’s current regime is abhorrent, it needs the will of the people to overturn it, they will be very brave to do so. I watched Iranians being interviewed last night as they fled across the border, they are fearful of their rulers.

I imagine that any talks with Iran, USA, Israel and neighbouring countries will fraught as they all will want to save face

Apologies for my ramblings, I am trying to organise my thoughts.
