don’t believe for one minute that you don’t understand that dark humour is a type of coping mechanism for when humans confront appalling horror.

For me the image of what the Israelis were doing surpassed so much of what I’d seen, how do we confront what this world is descending into?

And anybody particularly the police, military, doctors etc use dark humour as a coping mechanism.

We can see it much in evidence on footage of young IDF soldiers - it is shocking in the extreme, but understandable - whilst at the same time difficult to understand

I am not police, military or doctor , I speak my thoughts and views and humour certainly does not mix with tragedy for me ,

No, it could be a sort of Utopia where everyone puts the needs of others before themselves.Where no unprotected woman is ever raped, no goods are stolen and so on and so forth.
Except society doesn’t work like that, especially not in war torn countries.

Pity the poor Gazans who will be faced by the brutal IDF or the brutal Hamas being in charge.

It won’t be hamas, Israel will make sure of that.

But Israelis behaviour will ensure that it is Hamas by any other name.

Now think about this GNs. There is a concept known as 'political expediency'.
If the ONLY way to get a peace deal, ceasefire, hostage return, normality resumed, is to include Hamas in the process, then that could happen. No matter how any of us feel about that. No matter how distasteful the thought.
It doesn't matter what we hope or believe should happen to Hamas.
For example Archbishop Makarios of Cyprus was once labelled a terrorist, and then became an accepted leader, politically.
David Lammy recently shook the hand of the current ruler in Syria, who was said to have once been in ISIS.
'Political expediency' will usually win over morality, belief, hope.

Meanwhile in the GENOCIDE of Gaza,

Penny Mordaunt was fantastic at the Coronation, and has great dress sense.

The last people to be policing the Gazans is the IDF. They've just killed more children today. As my post above showed they have been very active in killing and injuring innocents. The Red Cross are busier than ever with casualties.
Do you really think these are suitable people to "police" the Gazans?

The IDF also shot some of their own soldiers the other year when they were waving a white flag. As usual there was going to be an ‘investigation’. We never hear any more of these ‘ investigations’ .

A reason for antisemitism?

We are not talking about antisemitism here, but while I personally have no prejudice towards all Jews it will have increased given Israels behaviour for the last nearly 3 years.
Israel will never live in peace again, the world has judged what they are doing as totally unacceptable behaviour by what is supposed to be a democratic nation and found it wanting.

Antisemitism is vile and nasty and belongs in the gutter along with those who actively practice it but it does not belong on this thread.

The word antisemitism has been brought up on this thread many times. Usually by just one poster.

Thanks Maremia for reminding is about political expediency . Any behaviour that expedites peace is good behaviour.

following 7/7 London bombing ?

I would like to think there could be peace but have little hope till this government is ousted and that can't be till I think October next year.

We have mentioned the 2026 elections on earlier threads but they do still seem to be too far away.

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with anti-semtism.

This thread is about a powerful state using overpowering and excessive force against a very much weaker opponent.

This thread is about genocide and ethnic cleaning.

If someone starts a thread condemning anti-semitism - 99.99% of posters on this will agree.
