because tragically it is not over.

There are checkpoints in Gaza and Palistinians can’t leave without permission from Israel , and permission is tightly restricted.

They will still be living in Gaza with what is tentatively being proposed. I still haven’t seen any suggestion about where and how people should live in the near future. It’s no good riding your high horse on this, Gaza is in near ruins and will have to be cleared and meanwhile the people have to be housed and fed.It makes sense to have facilities in one place. If anyone has a good and practical idea about how to go about this, I will be all ears.Being emotional won’t cut it

All ears Oreo? See my post of 16.04.

I’d like to ask you why the proposed ‘facilities all in one place’ need to be patrolled by Israeli armed guards, and why Palestinians would not be able to leave the area i.e. locked in? Why is this necessary? I’m all ears!

Pretending it’s for the good of the Palestinians is shameful. It’s ethnic cleansing.

No good riding your high horse on this.

Comment from Prof Amos Goldberg, historian of the Holocaust at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem:

“The defence minister laid out clear plans for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, Goldberg said, and the creation of “a concentration camp or a transit camp for Palestinians before they expel them”.

“It is neither humanitarian nor a city,” he said of Katz’s planned holding area for Palestinians.

“A city is a place where you have possibilities of work, of earning money, of making connections and freedom of movement.

“There are hospitals, schools, universities and offices. This is not what they have in mind. It will not be a livable place, just as the ‘safe areas’ are unliveable now.”

Is he lying?

Why are people looking for food being shot?

Please don't tell me Hamas is hiding in their clothing or shoes?

silverlining48 Wed 09-Jul-25 22:09:09

More than 100 Gazans were killed today. 60 killed yesterday,, same thing happens every day. Often starving people waiting for food. Or rockets aimed at what’s left of the buildings where families try to exist. Nearly 60,000dead so far,

No report of Israeli civilian deaths, today or any day since 7 October 2023. It can’t be a war if only one side has all the weaponry.

When will this horror end?

I don’t have any horses, high or low.
A city can’t just be magically created right now to house the Gazan people complete with jobs!
What can be quickly created is an encampment, with regular aid coming in and help.
It hasn’t happened yet and may not do, it’s a proposal.
Of course it’s for the benefit of Palestinians, if Israel wanted to it could eventually pull out and do nothing at all for the people there.

Deaths are notified by Hamas , you trust this ?

Why would the ‘encampment’ need to be patrolled by armed guards? Why would the Palestinians located in it be imprisoned i.e. not allowed to leave? If encampments could be created quickly, why not create them within existing Gazan communities and allow regular aid in there, rather than imposing the forced relocation of hundreds of thousands of people?

Of course it’s for the benefit of Palestinians, if Israel wanted to it could eventually pull out and do nothing at all for the people there

If Israel wanted to do something for the Palestinians it could stop bombing them, pull out of Gaza and allow in the tons of aid that it’s been blocking.

Is Professor Amos Goldberg lying? 20.37

If Hamas had any thought for the people who voted them into
power they would pull out of Gaza

Oreo Wed 09-Jul-25 22:48:21

Prof Goldberg is one man.
If genocide had been the aim then the IDF is very incompetent as there are two million people now in Gaza.
If the people are all in one place then the towns can be inspected and levelled where it needs to be done for safety reasons, tunnels filled in.If Gazans were living in tents here and there randomly then nothing could get done.

Oh, right, yes, the Israeli government has always been extremely mindful of the safety and well-being of Palestinians - I forgot!

Maybe you're just not aware.

Not many genocidal warmongers would stop hostilities for 3 days in order to vaccinate babies and young children.

Or throw leaflets telling the citizens to move due to impending warfare.

All this talk is just playing into Hamas's hands. They don't care about their citizens being killed. Obviously due to the tunnels under hospitals, schools etc etc

They want to eliminate Israel. And the useful idiots in the west are playing into their hands. They want to turn the west against Israel.

It appears to be working

What utter tosh.

Tell me what internment camp was set up for the benefit of people of Berlin or Dresden?

The only ones I remember are the ones with “work is freedom” over the gates, and those people weren’t allowed out either !

Your words are chilling and frankly should never have been uttered.

Do you understand the depths to which you are allowing yourself to be dragged?

Oreo Thu 10-Jul-25 07:48:40

Harking back to WW2 again Whitewavemark2
Your words on this subject are not only tosh but naive in the extreme and as said above are doing the work of hamas by blinding pro Palestinians in the West to the truth of the matter.
You or anyone else still haven’t said their own ideas as to how and where 2 million people should live while the rubble of towns are levelled and the tunnels filled in.They have to be somewhere! In one place means aid can get there easily.

Certainly amongst older people on here it is, and probably with impressionable younger people.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:22:31

Mmm - how do you normally describe an open air area from which you cannot leave, have no means of employment, are totally reliant on your guards for food water etc?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:26:33

Regarding me harking back to WW2

It is called learning from history

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:27:26

Oh and can you tell me who reduced Gaza to rubble?

Oreo Thu 10-Jul-25 08:28:26

There is no employment there, or so little it makes no difference.
Clan control would operate without armed guards, it is already happening but turned a blind eye to or actively encouraged at the moment as they are against hamas.
Gazans are already reliant on Israel for food aid and water coming in.
Forget sentiment and ideology and think about the logistics and practical matters.

Oreo Thu 10-Jul-25 08:30:12

Whitewavemark2

Oh and can you tell me who reduced Gaza to rubble?

Silly question, and I don’t go in for point scoring.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:37:02

It seems to me that the Israeli government is now intent on ridding Gaza entirely of Palestinians, and to do so ratchet up the pressure, starvation, killings and horror to drive them out if Gaza to god knows where.

If this isn’t ethnic cleansing amounting to genocide I’m unclear what is.

The obscenity of naming this enclosure a Humanitarian City by the very people who have been inflicting untold horror on the people they now claim that they want to treat humanly is beyond irony.

Oreo Thu 10-Jul-25 08:40:26

Loads of emotional rhetoric but still no practical suggestions as to how two million people can be housed and fed while keeping a lid on the clans and racketeering.

Loads of emotional rhetoric but still no practical suggestions as to how two million people can be housed and fed while keeping a lid on the clans and racketeering.

But that is total gaslighting.

The proposal is that there is a 60 break in the violence, whereupon a “city” will be built to house 600000 people. After which presumably the violence will continue.

What utter nonsense.
