Experts, including Jewish people, have called the events in Gaza a genocide. It's unfolding before our eyes.

Jews are allegedly calling it genocide? American Jews ,European Jews ? Must be your many Jewish friends , several
posters have many Jewish friends , earlier this year a poster from Israel joined us, she was a Jew, sadly she didn’t stay with
the threads on Gaza, there is one regular poster who is a Jew

nanna8 Fri 11-Jul-25 07:32:24

I don’t blame her not staying and it is a pity because she was actually there and could shed light on things we only hear secondhand or third hand.

She was told a poster here knew more than she did , same happened when she tried to join the discussions last year

What she knew or didn't know would depend totally on what media she used, just like everyone here. Her opinions would also be coloured by her political views, just like everyone here. So, she's, of course, absolutely free to share her views and insights but to expect anyone to accept them as more valid than anyone else's is unrealistic. I've got friends in America, without exception they all voted Democrat but I know if I asked one friend's husband I would hear a completely different view on Trump and his policies as he's a staunch MAGA man!

Groan, not Trump again

to expect anyone to accept them as more valid than anyone else's is unrealistic of course it is foxie and those of us who fear what this so called Humanitarian City will be in reality, may not have a viable alternative Oreo, but that doesn't mean that we, or anyone else, should blindly believe that Israel has a care for the Palestinians when all evidence to date, shows the exact opposite.

No, she was in Israel, not Gaza, so relied on the media and official announcements, just like anybody else. Her posts weren't objective and unbiassed.

All I know is that there is a lot of anti Semitism here where I live. Nothing whatsoever to do with Gaza, that is just an excuse. Synagogue have been attacked and burnt with children inside and foul graffiti has been spread around. Disgusting. As for describing the awful events as genocide that is ridiculous in a war situation.

How is it ridiculous? The word "genocide" was coined during the Second World War to describe what was happening in Europe. It couldn't have been much more of a "war situation" than that.

Smileless2012 Fri 11-Jul-25 09:28:14

And are those doing so expecting their posts to be regarded as more valid than others Annie?

Bombing of Dresden was genocide ?

AnnieB where are you getting your own 'objective and unbiased' views from?

It would be nice to have them even regarded as just as valid.

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 09:38:45

For those of you who reject the label of 'GENOCIDE' for the atrocities and war crimes that are still occurring in Gaza, perhaps you would care to share with us your definition of those anti-humanitarian, cruel and murderous events?

Where are your own objective and unbiased views from?
We all have our own views on Gaza and it would be nice if a bit of civility prevailed on here instead of snippy comments and downright rude ones at times.

Maremia Fri 11-Jul-25 09:43:13

Just asking as a Point of Information, nann8, as you appear to be witnessing a specific situation,
have these appalling anti-semitic attacks stayed at the same frequency, or have they increased since the publicity and discussions about the killings in Gaza have been in mainstream news outlets?

A poster living in Israel shared “I don’t support the PM” ,
also “I have spoken to released hostages , I have spoken to IDF”,
Reply to her was “I know the truth “

Who claimed they are?

How is stating that "Jews say it's genocide" not objective and biased? Clearly, some Jews are claiming it's genocide, so it's a statement of fact. Whether or not what is happening in Gaza is genocide (and don't forget that it's only a word) would be up to international courts to decide.

Oreo Fri 11-Jul-25 09:48:39

They increased here in the UK from right after the terrible events of October 23 and kept right on going to the present day.
It doesn’t take much in any case for the antisemites to come out of the woodwork.

Bombing of Dresden was genocide ?

It was an appalling and unnecessary act, but I doubt if it would have met the criteria for genocide, as it was only targeting a small section of the population.

I am happy to share with you Oreo, as to where I find information about what is happening to the people of Gaza. I am getting my information mainly from the BBC, the Guardian, Byline Times, posts on Facebook from a great variety of Aid and Church agencies, from the variably sourced MSM articles on my computer, from sources about the history of the area, which were recommended to me by Posters on these GAZA threads, including books, research articles, quotes from Israeli Politicians that have been presented on these threads, research about the concept of AMALAK, dictionary definitions of GENOCIDE and others.
Thanks by the way to Posters who responded to my requests for enlightenment. One particular Poster, who shall not be named, suggested I find out for myself,
well Reader, I did.

Have you ever met a non-Muslim antisemite? I have. One was my godmother. She was involved in neo-Nazi groups and when my mother died, I found some of the photographic evidence. Ironically, of course, they hated Muslims too. Those groups are still active in the UK and some of them are behind antisemitic attacks, including online trolling.
