Sago, as I have posted before, the judiciary in Britain is independent of the government, unlike the USA .

I read that the woman she had the argument with is also going to court in due course.

Not sure where your info is from Sarnia but she did not blame being drunk and she didn't only get a fine from a "dozy" magistrate.

Her lawyer Hannah Kelly said: “ It was one push and one punch, and she accepts the injury. There's no attempt to blame here, she does not minimise her behaviour or blame alcohol.

District Judge Ian Barnes sentenced Cleary to a 12-month community order with 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days for the offences.

He also fined her £160 and ordered her to pay £300 in compensation to PC Lowe and £50 to the pub for the damage and mess she caused.

He told her: "That punch was used against an emergency worker, a police officer just doing their job, and I have seen the injury. They have a nasty lump to their head afterwards.

'You were also making comments in the police station, suggesting perhaps there was little remorse. But I expect that was in drink, and I suspect on reflection you have different views.

You were a lady of good character and that is relevant. You have also pleaded guilty so you are entitled to full credit for that.''

The judge also imposed a licensed premises exclusion order forbidding her from going to the Penny Black pub for 12 months.

You have to actually say nasty things online to be jailed. Doing nasty things doesn’t count.

Lucy Cleary, a single mother of 3, walked free from court after been charged with assaulting a policewoman. The Police had been called because this woman was throwing chairs and glasses around the Weatherspoons pub where she had been drinking. No mention of where her 3 children were but good to see she isn't wasting her state handouts. According to witnesses she 'rained blows' on the female officer but when she appeared in court she argued that she had 'only' hit the officer once. The dozy magistrate accepted her version of accounts and that her being drunk had been the cause of all the trouble. She was let off with a fine and community order.
