Breaking news Diss hotel refuses to take single men boat people
(346 Posts)Good news.
Park Hotel at Diss, Norfolk have just announced they will not accommodate single men illegal immigrants.
There were protests at the hotel a few nights ago because locals do not want this small town invaded. It was peaceful until the pro migrant groups turned up who donāt even live there.
Anyway, well done the Park Hotel. šš

They are all asylum seekers Primrose not illegal immigrants.
Don`t delude yourself because you want to live in a comfortable delusional bubble.
Those young men are illegal and most are just migrants and certainly not asylum seekers.Home Office statistics show that 75% of 'illegal' immigrants are successful in their asylum claims.
Thank you for using statistical evidence to support the facts. This is needed now more than ever.
Feelings are not facts. Fears are not facts. "Othering" people are not facts, either.
I'm happy to look over any fact-based evidence. I don't have time for anything else, having seen what is happening to my home of origin in the USA.
Unless folks are game to see that sort of things in the streets of this country, I suggest digging hard for the facts.
As for this hotel, if we don't have the ability to make them change their stance, at least we all have all the information we each need to know if we will be using or recommending their services in the future.

But the statistics given are not those on the gov uk website MissRedd.
Just under half (49%) of claims which received an initial decision in the year ending March 2025 were granted.) Not 75%.
And what then happened to the other 50%?

The Park Hotel has a contract to house families only apparently. They do not want to change that contract which would entail moving the families who have been there 2 years to another location . The number of hotels in use has halved in the last year. Thatās still no excuse for āprotestorsā to attack the police or cause damage.
Well I certainly don't want them in a house near me. In a town nearby one of our premier hotels has them and they wander round aimlessly with nothing to do.

Sarnia The story about the Skegness Hotel owner was on my local news at the time. Good for him for having morals. It doesn't matter what we call these people we don't need them taking resources from people who have paid taxes all their lives when then have contributed nothing. It is disgraceful our pensioners were cold last winter, our homeless people rely on wonderful charities and our schools and NHS are at breaking point. You only need to watch the news to see most crime is commited by these migrants, yet the politically correct do-gooders refuse to accept this.
My feelings entirely.
Those not applying for asylum through the proper channels should be turned right around and sent back straight away to the last country they came from, usually France.
Many of the countries these migrants have crossed on their way to the UK are perfectly safe but many of them don't want to stay there because Britain is a softer touch.

Genuine asylum seekers I have sympathy for. However, I feel that the vast majority entering here illegally are not genuine asylum seekers at all, but looking for a comfortable life here with a roof over their heads and benefits to get them going. We are far too soft and they know it.
Iāll get shot down in flames for saying these things, but so many have come here illegally and should be deported. We would, if it was us entering other countries illegally. People coming through the proper channels, and properly assessed are welcome here.

Your car washes.
Numerous restaurants.
Looking after those pretty plants.
Delivering your drug of choice.
Delivering take away meals.
Night time cleaning.
Then we have the nasty bastards who keep the working girls in check.
Ziplock - you won't be shot down in flames because most sensible people agree with you.
Granygravy, no we wonāt. Watched a YouTube clip of a ājust eatā delivery guy sitting on the pavement, going through the bag & scooping out food from each container, he resealed & put back in the bag š¤®

Eh? Are you claiming that they're not seeking asylum?
They're asylum seekers.

How can people come through "proper channels" when there aren't any proper channels for those fleeing persecution?
Ziplok....I agree 100%

How many people have been waiting years for social housing in this country? They live in B&Bs, disgusting private accommodation running with mould, overcrowding relative's homes, many living on the streets yet the government are thinking of using empty properties for migrants to use?
What the hell is this country coming to? No doubt these long empty houses will be refurbished and made brand spanking new with new kitchens and bathrooms etc for these people to live comfortably in at great expense. When are we going to put our own people first?
We don't know who these, mostly, young men are, what they've done in their own countries or what they bring into our country.
We've had multiple cases of foreign looking men sitting around our beach front trying to chat up young girls out enjoying the beach. One said he was the young girl's brother when someone challenged him, which certainly was not the case, he was chased off by locals.
We're going to get lots more of this till we stop being the soft touch of Europe and make the UK undesirable to come here. I doubt the French are giving out £50 top ups for 'essentials' each week
I helped a young, local couple to get social housing. It took 4 years to get something which was a flat. I have heard of people waiting 10 years.
Starmer reckons there is plenty of empty accommodation but when asked he couldnāt say WHERE. He is living in cloud cuckoo land if he believes what he says.
There is no way locals around here will accept illegal immigrants being housed before them. It is very wrong to even consider doing so.

They are not fleeing persecution they are fleeing France which is a safe country.

'Not all asylum applications are successful. In 2024, 53% were refused at initial decision (not counting withdrawals).'
commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn01403/
When an application is refused at initial decision, it may be appealed. By June 2024, around a third of applications lodged in 2023 had a known outcome and, of these, around a third had been refused'
So nearly half of all applications are granted. Of the other 53%, nearly two-thirds were granted on appeal.
The term 'illegal immigrant' should only apply to those who have been refused at appeal stage, and disappeared. The others are asylum seekers.
My town centre is being regenerated, lots of building work under way, new long term flats. Local businesses opening up, new Restaurants, it going to look great. It's been a long time in the planning, but now underway.
In the last few day, we have been informed that 37 asylum/illegal immigrants will be placed in some of the brand new flats, slap band in the middle of the town.
Apparently the Home Office sent out an email to the council, asking that they needed the accommodation but didn't get a reply. Some how the email went to a unknown Contractor so they assumed it was systems go.
Unsure how the Council found out, but the local community is furious.
Luckily we have a very controversial MP who got the word out, haranguing the council, she's a no holds barred MP, she has all her parties Councillors backing her.
Just heard today that The Home Office are putting it on hold at the moment for further consideration.
These new homes we were all told at one of the regular meets, are for young families definitely not single men. This town is beening designed around families, totally unsuitable for these men.
Reading a report of this incident, it seems the Tommy Robinson mob were the ones to cause the problems not the people in the hotel. These protesters are just out to cause mayhem and spread false information, mob frenzy.

Plus I have the cynical feeling that lots of the claims were granted to get the huge backlog down.š¤
Which incident? I grant you it's happening a lot, but Diss is in Norfolk, Epping is in Essex.
I'm sick to death of people saying "they're fleeing persecution" when the majority of them travel thousands of miles through 'safe' countries to get to the UK
You can't get much more safe than France yet day after day they make the trip over to our country, and why is that? I wonder....
It's because we're the softest touch in Europe

Thatās true but there were plenty of concerned and angry local residents.
In this case there was no false info, an African man from the hotel had been arrested earlier in the week.

It wears thin doesnāt it?
Fleeing persecution sounds good, except they arenāt at all.
